We have former exchange students who are family now (1999 & 2000) from Vienna and near Cologne that we visit every 2-3 years, and have added other places onto our itineraries - the girls visit us with their families as well. Spent a week in London in 2018 - what a hopping place!

None to my knowledge - mostly write-ups by bbc, mirror, daily mail that I see. Not sure how I came across it but likely one of those. I followed poor Star’s case on here so came back to follow up on Lucy Letby. I was late to the Murdaugh case - boy, the courts in SC didn’t waste any time - sentenced day after conviction after a July indictment. Back to Lucy - sure they will catch on after conviction & do a documentary like on Cullen. The US does love some true crime, many say too much so. I get that but am also fascinated by the psyche of criminals like these. I majored in psychology for a few years before switching. I know I will never truly understand them or how they cross that line. It is just horrifying, isn’t it?

On page 2 of thread 1 on websleuths of the Murdaugh trial. Funny cause I read the surname as sounding like murder. Talk about living up to their name.

I'm late to the Murdaugh case but started watching the Netflix documentary this weekend.
Only 3 episodes but it's covers not only the boat crash, the shooting of the Mother and son, the killing of the sons male lover and now I'm on the last episode it has moved onto the housekeepers death.
It's interesting. Sorry I edited to put the content of the documentary in a spoiler warning as although I know it's real life and there has been a trial etc. people may not be aware of all the death and tragedy... dunno if that was the right thing to do

Absolutely mind blowing - Alex insured his house, a month later the house keeper of 20 years trips and falls then dies, he instructs an insurance payout to her family ( via his own company) of 4.3 millions and they never even knew …. I have the same problem and it is why I was happy to take on the wiki because I would have driven myself nuts remembering I had seen something somewhere but struggle to go back and find it. It was bad enough trying to do that with the trials for Star and Arthur but they were only around 6-8 weeks and far less complex.
I’m glad people find it useful.
I see where your jurors aren’t allowed to speak about the case afterward? Here, everyone wants to serve on well-known trials and then cash in with talk shows and books. I kind of like your way best but do like seeing real footage & photos from trials. Drawings of Letby look so sickening - they do capture a rather predatory gleam in her eyes, though.

I don’t know why we bother with court artists. They rarely look like the person they are meant to portray. The Mail podcast spoke to the artist that draws Lucy and she said they are not allowed to draw in court. They can only make notes and then they have to leave and draw from memory. I think that’s why they don’t look that great. I suppose they are good if you consider it’s from memory but just don’t know what the point is? How much are we spending of uk tax money every year for rubbish drawings? (Not the artist’s fault, I’m sure they are talented)

I was camp unsure at first but since the trail started back this year and with the evidence over the last week I am definitely in the guilty camp now, although I will listen to defence with an open mind.
I looked on the NHS website to find out exactly what hypothyroidism is. (Under active thyroid) Only speculating but for me this is compelling.
From the NHS website - pregnancy complications…
“If an underactive thyroid is not treated during pregnancy, there's a risk of problems occurring. These include:
* pre-eclampsia – which can cause high blood pressure and fluid retention in the mother and growth problems in the baby
* anaemia in the mother
* an underactive thyroid in the baby
* birth defects
* bleeding after birth
* problems with the baby's physical and mental development
* premature birth or a low birthweight
* stillbirth or miscarriage
These problems can usually be avoided with treatment under the guidance of a specialist in hormone disorders (an endocrinologist). Therefore, tell a GP if you have an underactive thyroid and you're pregnant or trying to get pregnant.”
Along with fertility problems I wonder if Lucy has been pregnant in the past and possibly suffered a miscarriage? (Maybe on more than one occasion)
Women with hypothyroidism have decreased fertility, and if they conceive, they have increased the risk of abortion.
The complications bleeding, anemia, abruption placenta, issues with mental & physical developments of the baby, possibility of small or premature baby or the chance of birth defects. I feel as though she tried to inflict this on other babies too because she couldn’t have her own perfect child, IMO.
