I’ve mentioned before when I was a witness in court & you get the defence barrister questioning you, its their job & they will chat bollocks, if you have half a brain you know what they’re getting at 20 mins before they get to it. It’s their job & even if they look like an absolute twat they don’t care.
Can’t knock him for trying.

In my experience I was half like fuck me am I the one on trial here?

I was also shaking like a mofo, if there had happened to be a court artist, I’d have had wriggle vibration lines around me:LOL:

A serial killer operating in a hospital. Almost the perfect set up. No CCTV on patients (victims). The guarantee that consumables (the weapon if you like) that are discarded after use and probably incinerated soon after. Add to that, the chosen victim type being the ultimate in vulnerability; babies that can’t tell anyone anything, other than scream in pain. It’s almost perfect 😢 doing so many in one year in the same crime scene was her only expiry reason.

Also why would any of them risk their medical licence by lying under oath? All those years of studying and graft to throw it all away?

Sorry if I missed something does anyone know why she tried to walk out when the doctor gave his name the other week?
Not yet, but there’s been speculation on here (that I’m inclined to agree with) that he is a possible romantic connection to her, whether that was just in her head, or whether they were in some kind of relationship. Nobody really knows yet. But it’s the first time we have heard of any real emotion from her in court, and as far as I can remember all he’d done was state his name which makes me think it’s a romantic connection rather than she’s realised she’s done for at this point, as others had suggested. If he’d given any evidence, never mind particularly incriminating, then I could maybe believe it was to do with her knowing she was done for, but as it was only his name I just can only see it being for one reason.

I also think this is bad for LL as the jury have seen her sit there and watch mothers weeping and heard some pretty brutal evidence against her with no reaction, then suddenly a doctor gives his name and she gets up and tries to walk out and cries. Well if I was on the jury that would be very telling tbh no emotion for the poor suffering babies and mothers, but for a doctor just stating there name. I think it’s both chilling and cold

Oh confirmation by the mail online it’s the same doctor that made her cry!!

In the messages, Letby's colleague suggested she was 'flirty' with a doctor working on the unit at the time. Letby repeatedly denied having a crush on the doctor or flirting with him.
Letby responded with 'cry laughing' emojis when it was suggested the paediatrician would like her to 'go commando'.
The medic being discussed by the pair first gave evidence at Letby's trial a fortnight ago, addressing the jury from behind a screen.
On that occasion the neonatal nurse became visibly distressed and appeared to make an attempt to leave the dock via a side door in the glass-panelled dock.

She composed herself and returned to her seat following a hushed conversation with a female security officer. She continued to wipe tears from her eyes as the doctor continued with his evidence.

Sorry I'm a bit new to the thread, why do you call her beige?
It's a bit mean girl based on her decor, the way she dresses and the way she speaks (in text). I wouldn't usually condone the low blows but she is on trial for murder so if guilty she deserves it and if innocent then at least its not the worst thing being said about her 😂 also keeps the thread light now and then.

Finally almost caught up with the wiki, just have Thursday and Friday to add but ran out of space on page 9 so waiting for a page 10 to be set up.

Can tell how little reporting we get now compared to earlier babies. I used to only be able to fit one, almost two babies per page but page 9 I have almost four babies on! (Will need to move the twins L & M to the new page as can’t quite fit the last of their evidence).

I don’t know, I wouldn’t put much weight on how they communicate. Me and my boyfriend have been together years and living together and we use Snapchat to message. I’m around Lucy’s age.
Married nearly ten years. Mostly communicate in passive aggressive sighs 🤣

Pretty miraculous that he guessed he left it 2-3 minutes before checking on LL because of that niggle he had about her and then all those years later the actual evidence of the swipe data and the collapse record shows it was exactly that. With LL confirming there was no alarms sounding at the time, so Dr J having no reason to pop back in, it’s pretty solid confirmation that his version is correct.

I am not convinced this was a two sided thing. Don’t forget LL is the master of manipulation and lies. Her message to him was a response to a question saying ‘hope I can help’ and she then hinted to her colleague she had had romantic messages from him. Reading the wiki and seeing she sent a whole lot of clinical information to - I assume - him which is noted to not be anywhere in the notes suggests why he is keeping anonymous. He could well have been in some trouble with governing bodies re her messaging him these details since this all came out.

I wonder if she felt like she could trust him and he may know more that could really throw her under the bus… 🤔

I’m waiting for the people who believe she’s a scapegoat to suggest that he’s part of the set up and he planted the test results and handover sheets etc under her bed. He probably wrote her confession too 🙄
He'd really be taking one for the team, getting into her beige bed and trying to act like he's into it when surrounded by 'live laugh love' signs just to plant something under her bed 🤢😂 poor bloke.

Perfect (at the time) cover up for Lucy, having a student nurse with her. The opening statement said she was designated nurse these two babies. So if the parents are correct and she wasn’t around much then what was she doing?

Dr Gibbs getting snappy with Lucy makes me wonder if he made an association by that point as he had seen quite a few of these babies collapses.
when there’s a resuscitation process going on there should be a member of staff allocated just to scribe events over that time - there should be a strict timeline of what happened, what’s given, along with the exact times. That person doesn’t do anything else at that time to ensure the events are clearly documented and clear for reference of the person running the resuscitation. To me he’s absolutely right to want to know exactly how much has been given and could be a coincidence that it happened to be LL he asked - or could be interpreted to show her concentration was elsewhere, or that she was trying to negatively influence treatment. It definitely shows the chaotic nature of things though.
ETA - but yes, maybe he’s absolutely exasperated by it always being her around any problem. Todays reporting makes it sound so harrowing for everyone there

Even if the student messed up it's LLs responsibility as the student is under her supervision. I find it fucking weird they are messaging eachother all the time when they are off. I don't want to hear about work thank,s I don't want to know what admissions we have had I wait until shift to find out . Maybe I'm hard as nails.

It makes me snigger how many I see claiming the Dr is ‘sweet’ - if the messages were reversed it’d be carnage about how suffocating she was. They’re perhaps even drippier than LL’s messages - constant ‘are you ok’s’, take my car, eat my chocolate, snuggle this little baby, get some sleep bla bla. Maybe there was some raunchier messages elsewhere but this reads completely drippy to me, he’s also a Matalan shopper 100%.

If anything I hope this puts to bed the conspiracy theorists saying poor wee Lucy is just the victim of senior leaders pointing fingers at her for their incompetence. If anything it seems senior managers actively helped her kill more babies by rejecting the very real concerns of staff.

I'm struggling with this case recently. I'm still a believer that she's guilty, but I'm amazed the prosecution brought forward a charge where the only evidence is that a doctor walked in and found her standing in the general vicinity of a baby who needed help. There's literally nothing there. I suspect they know that though and it's just a way of boosting Dr J's credibility as a witness, because it allowed him to talk about her being reported to higher ups which was quite a revelation.

But then the text messages...I find it hard to imagine that such a beige person is a criminal mastermind. It's the first glimpse of her personality and it turns out she's just not that interesting.

Important to remember though - evidence has to be approved. You can't read out her flirty texts for no reason, you need to justify why that's relevant to the charges against her. The fact that the court has allowed this, and Ben Myers isn't going ballistic, does suggest there's going to be something very interesting in those messages.
That wasn’t his evidence though, or the only evidence? He said she was stood over the baby watching her, the monitor showed the baby was desaturating and the alarm was not sounding. Lucy’s own responses in the police interview confirmed the alarm wasn’t sounding and she said she would have waited to see if the baby would self correct. Other witnesses confirmed the episode occurred and that also you wouldn’t leave a baby of that age to self correct and that the alarm should have gone off. It’s not purely his word. His account is made credible by other witnesses and evidence and even Lucy herself.

OK, yes, I see what you mean.
I just can’t fathom a reason for her just standing there, alarms off, not checking the tube, using suction, trying to stimulate the baby, getting help, listening for air entry, whatever.
it makes me feel ill the thought of her doing nothing. My son always used to forget to breath and was quite reliant on morphine. at the bare minimum they used to tickle him. Also the day he went into respiratory arrest and had to get the emergency buzzer his nurse was crying afterwards and when we saw her again she remembered him and said how horrible it was.

In the 5 months in hosp I only ever saw the emergency buzzer go off twice so I just cannot see how it was so normal for so much to stuff to go wrong. The nurses reaction to my son didn’t make me think it was that common either.
