I've just been reading one fb post and worries me....one, a nurse...saying "trust me, she's not guilty " and others agreeing with her!🙄
What on earth??
I just hope the members of the jury don't have that mindset!!
It’s crazy I’m all for being open minded I was at the start but I do think gui now . but to say not guikty and no reason why is insane actually worrying . You can’t even have rational conversations because you get attacked by multiple people . I made a comment earlier on a Facebook post and within five minutes 12 people got aggressive with me for saying she’s guilty .

im sorry but it’s not a coincidence that all these babies are either passing away or collapsing whilst in her care .🤷🏻‍♀️

The thread closed before I had time to answer!
Mmm, I don’t know. There has been no mention of internal bleeding, which could pool and show on x-ray. All the blood seems, at this point, to be coming out through vomiting or aspirate. It seems to have been fresh blood too, so no time to sit in the stomach and become darker. I’m surmising though. These babies have very delicate veins so easily damaged.
The horrendous crying seems suspect, and just heartbreaking too, and the baby had fresh and dried-in blood rounds it mouth, but while all this was happening she was sitting at the computer 🤷‍♀️
I think she forgot, or didn’t realise mum was coming down at 9pm and she’s been caught out. In a normal situation, you’d want a patient to look nice and settled and care done if you knew a parent was coming, not in the sense of trying to hide something, but to reassure them.

Flipping heck!!
If LL is guilty...why on earth did the CONSULTANT " agree with the coroner"/ she " thought he had NEC"..could LL have been stopped right here if that's the case?
I've been wondering all week why one wasn't carried out...she's a consultant for heaven's sake, I'm no expert but she's just said NEC wouldn't present in this way..surely a consultant wouldn't have needed to have to realise this later down the line?
It sounds pretty basic to me???
Am I missing something??

I can see your way of thinking with the searches, I really can. I just find it hard to accept as straight up evidence of wrong doing just because I can think of a few reasons for it being done without malice. Ultimately I agree that why not just say then?! I think I’m in the FBI sometimes with the stalks I do 😂 but I’d bet I’d remember them all and why I searched them. perhaps if I’d searched someone once a few year back I may not remember, but she didn’t search once did she. I hope you can see the way I think (which you don’t have to agree or think my way) but for me, I’m trying to find the innocent explanation as innocent until proven guilty and in my mind she isn’t bang to rights with it.
I think she’s said said doesn’t remember because she panicked. Didn’t want to have to sit and try explain she’s nosey and wanted to see if they posted stuff about the baby (makes you sound morbid) and she felt that answer wouldn’t go in her favour. In her head she’s knows she’s innocent so didn’t think that lie would ever bite her in the ass and this would all blow over soon. Now it’s a lie she’s having to keep up as prosecution will use it against her as much as they can. She’s lied, she’s shown herself to be capable of lying, what else is she capable of lying about… that kinda stuff. Happened with FS In the star trial.
I obvs read here and know that isn’t your view, just wanted to offer up an alternative, or show the way I can make it make sense
Morning! Thanks for your response, I will try to also explain how I feel and hope you (and everyone) will know I am just sharing my opinion and how I see things rather than saying anyone else is wrong etc. Probably going to end up a ramble, so if there are people that think my points dominate or don’t like how I post- please kindly put me on ignore now! I am also going to probably have to use examples of things I’ve heard here to make my points- not trying to sneer or imply anything by that - just trying to show what I see differently. Full fella disclaimer sorry- boring but trying to make it clear I don’t come here to upset people!

I also see your views on the Facebook thing, however I don’t have any justification for Letby’s. I do not have an innocent answer for why she’s done it. To me, following an innocent until proven guilty stance (I admire that!) doesn’t mean giving letby potential innocent explanations outside of what I know about the case. If I do that all the way along, if I create scenes of her innocence like hysterical and nervous, without knowing that to be the case- how will I factually interpret what I am currently hearing.

I also don’t view anything much in isolation, so if I only knew Wayne Cousins bought a bag of rubble (@Tofino stealing your example) but I gave him reasons for doing so outside of what I’d heard about the case -eg he’s doing up his patio or he’s helping a friend with building work when nobody not even Wayne has said this himself (yes I know he pleaded G just using the example)- I wouldn’t interpret the evidence I am hearing properly imo. Of course because his murder of Sarah is more typical murder, I would later hear about the crime scene and go ah ok yes. But this isn’t typical murder. It is however, extremely typical for this type of crime and evidence so to me the note is wholly significant as it is really the only wham bam moment you can expect in this kind of crime - an admission is one of the only things that can convict Health care serial killers. I appreciate the note now she’s retracted those words is not a confession legally speaking. It is though, a huge piece of evidence for me.

There are many high profile cases where I haven’t though innocent until proven guilty (I have not been on the jury for any of them so that is fine!) this is because I’ve heard and seen what I needed to already- I’ve brought it up before but a lady that decapitated her neighbour recently pleaded not guilty and yes I formed an opinion already because it was obvious.

However, this crime is not a typical murder. The victims are difficult as so vulnerable, the murder scene is sterile, the physical evidence is disposed, the murder is using means that are wholly untypical for murder (except the poisoning really) but look completely normal in the setting they are committed in (nobody suspects a nurse hanging a TPN bag or using a line to kill) there will be no dna, no cctv as there is in a lot of typical murders. What we are hearing is strong strong strong evidence for this kind of crime imo - it has almost every feature. That’s what is more important to me than the red flags - a)I do see quite a few of them and b) there are many on there that we wouldn’t know yet like mental health, relationship problems etc. But I do see many features of these crimes in the case here.

I also agree that the Facebook evidence is not straight up evidence of wrong doing, this case doesn’t pin on them. However, it is how the police even come to know this about Letby that is what interests me. The Facebook activity is only found out after she’s already linked to all these events not what is used to say she is linked to them, she is there.

The hospital is having a huge rise in cpr near deaths and deaths (however you think that came about), the consultants and other staff will have begun realising Letby is on shift for many of these events- they can not prove this at this time they can only see that link and pattern as it goes on (this is how many SK in hospital get found out) they can raise concerns that are not believed (it sounds like this happened early on), eventually somebody takes steps to try and see if that truly unbelievable suspicion could be true or negligence on her part etc, they take steps to change what appears to be a pattern and see if it continues, there are still too many unexplainable events and deaths of patients not expected to die (this is key understanding, yes preemie babies are vulnerable but they rarely go into sudden cardiac arrest near death situations without warning because of equipment and high level obs, even if there are rare events that could cause sudden events they are too often happening for the statistical picture as a whole but also for one person to be there for all) and doctors see more worrying behaviour (such as her standing over babies desaturating etc.) two investigations into the hospital show that the rise is not down to hospital failures, statistically Letby is factually there and giving treatment before too many of these events to not warrant suspicions. Police involvement - other evidence found.

Everything else, Facebook searches, parent accounts, witness accounts, medical expert evidence of foul play, toxicology experts evidence, the contents of her house search are all found after knowing the bits before. And yes that is why I go on about bad luck.. sorry! Because she is implicated in being there for all of this ‘awful run’ and ‘unexplained and shocking’ deaths and then to top it off, all of the rest of this picture just happens to be there- searches, parent accounts, note, contradiction in her notes to others, text evidence etc etc! And it isn’t that I wouldn’t consider the validity of the witnesses or what they say or validity of evidence but if I am to question allllll of them and suspect alllll of them and allll that big picture - I have to consider why they would lie, how they could misremember, why they would break the law and prejudice a case, why air is there indicative of trauma, why huge amounts of insulin are there - if I can see no logical reason for any of that then I have to decide whether I think that they do all give me evidence to show her guilt or not.

To me, finding innocent reasons for little individual things that haven’t been provided to me, destroy the big picture of things I know so far, if defence provide them then i’ll consider them but I wouldn’t let potential innocent explanations I could come up with myself cloud anything that could be there already. I do not see searching people conclusive of murder, I do see repeated and linking babies to search before known link and at strange times and then not giving a reason utterly suspicious. IMO there is not a possibility that she did not know why she was searching them or why she took such an interest in them - I believe that she absolutely COULD explain and she is choosing not to. I definitely see suspicious evidence in her texts and I can totally see why others do not- they’re subjective. But I see what she has to gain by giving interesting answers, conflict of what she says in texts to police interview (worst day of her life, detail about parents grief- sudden lack of memory of it all in police interview), conflict and convenience in what she remembers and doesn’t.
Now if the defence comes up with something special, I will change my mind! I just cannot see how all of it can be explained all at once - yes I know they’re separate charges but you absolutely have to take in the pattern and likelihood in these cases just as you did with BA and Charles Cullen. If the victims were not so vulnerable to this kind of crime, there would be no difficulty at all convicting Letby IMO.

That's an interesting stance because by proxy, they were a team, therefore potentially decisions that were made by the team could have led to the disastrous outcomes? It's not that they are on trial per se, but they are part of a much bigger picture so they can't just all be assumed to completely innocent/without any part to play?
Should Dr Shipman and all of his colleagues have been tried? They missed many things - 250 suspicious deaths to be precise.

Oh goodness I'm so sorry to have asked something that has brought that up for you - that wasn't my intention at all. It sounds very traumatising, I'm very sorry you all had to go through that.

I go round so many things in my head sometimes I come back on myself. So now I'm questioning well why is she admitting it now? Well of course because she *has* to. She's a witness in a trial. But until this point she hasn't. And that doesn't sit right with me. She surely would have known at the time that it wasn't NEC? But instead of speaking up she let it go? I'm just musing out loud really.
It's fine! I'm happy to explain it, just may not always make sense😅, which begs the question how NEC could be given as a cause of death when the first diagnostic tool used is the X-ray and it was totally clear. So it doesn't add up for Baby E and not only was they failed by LL once again the hospital too.

If she had enough time to write a note for baby F just after the mum left after 9pm, why didn’t she write her retrospective note for baby E until gone 4am? Baby F was fine at that time so it does seem a bit odd she had time to update their notes in real time, but not the baby that was screaming and bleeding.

There are bound to be parents following the trial that had a baby in NICU during her working years that have been reminded of small odd occurrences with her. Maybe they found her to be uncomfortable too and have since reported it.. They always say it doesn’t matter how small your information is as it builds a picture.

I’m assuming that is why the Hummingbird line of enquires is still open for people to submit further information.

To be fair from what we have heard some of the care was sub-optimal. Whether it was the cause or whether it allowed a serial killer to get away with it, it undoubtedly had an effect. The reports from the time and from the investigation following also outline there were fundamental issues- especially around staffing and having the correct skill mix. I do think part of the reason the nhs is in shambles is because there's always a resistance to acknowledge its failing and make the much needed changes. Again, I love the premise of the nhs, and the vast majority of workers work ridiculously hard against crappy conditions.

I know. I believe mum 100%. If I’d come in and my baby was screaming horrendously and had blood round it’s mouth I would not be forgetting it.
No offence to the poor mum (or any young person!, old bat here) but I get the feeling she might be quite young and obviously trusting, what a horrendous experience with your first children.
When my daughter was in NICU her lungs collapsed and there was a lot of blood (I didn’t see), but my little brother had made her a card and it was next to her incubator and there was blood splatters on it and that is one thing I vividly remember (my daughter is nearly 7), so I agree, you would not forget the blood around the precious baby’s face.
I always knew exact times I’d go and see her aswell.

My head is in the shed today!!!
Please....i forget who are the ones with nicu experience on here so apologies, but please help me out😢
I know nothing about neonatal care, literally nothing.
I've just been reading the only sensible thread I've seen on one of the FB group and an experienced nicu nurse has been posting for the past couple of days around baby E.
She was convinced yesterday that baby E was developing NEC, given his blood gas readings and high blood sugar of over 18 ...I know this is high blood sugar in an adult never mind a premature baby, but didn't get the significance of it until she's explained it.
I don't know why, but I didn't realise NEC could cause the symptoms of the " crash" as with baby E. I knew it was dangerous/life threatening.. but..didn't know it could cause bleeding like this?
I've looked at statements on wiki from medical experts and they don't mention NEC

Is she talking shit? Have the medics missed the signs of NEC, could this have caused the major bleed in baby E?
I need educating, my head has gone completely!!
One of my twins had NEC. She didn't have high blood sugars nor a unexpected crash like Baby E. She didn't bleed. All she had was dirty aspirates through her NG tube from undigested milk and a tummy that was so swollen she looked pregnant herself. She was uncomfortable and screaming in pain.

I think in cases like this, where there is no fingerprint, DNA, damning CCTV, it is about building a picture of all the info available. “Coincidences”, conflicting accounts, LL being the one consistent presence, parents having upsetting encounters, and babies having unusual medical symptoms and crashes without wanting all add to the picture. They’re not asking for the jury to convict her on the basis of one mum’s account. It’s on the basis of it all together and the probability of all of these being simple unfortunate coincidences..

Just to say again the problem is not about a misunderstanding of timings between what the mother says happened at 9 or much later. What the mother describes happening at 9 - Letby says did not happen at all. She says she would not have said those things and if the baby had been bleeding she would have made someone aware. So you have to believe the mother and father invented the whole incident (not misremembering timings).

Sorry I understand why people have avoided today and not everyone can keep up fully but today has been incredibly compelling for the prosecution. It would be good to have some theories from ng and unsure voters after today because it’s often said that people dominate or it’s an echo chamber when obviously a majority of people vote G on the poll and also seem to follow it v closely and have been very vocal today. It would be a shame if we didn’t hear the other side and their rational and their explanations for what we’ve heard today and I do hope it’s not going to be thought of or expressed that it wasn’t allowed somehow x
I see what you mean, and I have thought guilty all the way through, and for me the insulin has always been the deciding factor.

Some of the earlier babies I have been less sure prove LLs guilt because of department mistakes, but I have still felt guilty overall because of the insulin.

Today's baby hits too close to home for personal reasons so I just can't read it when it's going to cause trauma. Following the bits and pieces on here is hard enough. So I can't give an opinion based on today, and whether it's more or less likely to reinforce my guilty viewpoint, when I know practically nothing about it, if you see what I mean? I'd be being led by what people on here are saying, which sounds bloody horrific, but I just cannot go there myself to make my own mind up.

Hope that explains it. Not trying to be awkward or anything, and I'm sorry if I have pissed anyone off, it's just too much on a personal level for me. Sorry 😞

Sorry if this has already been mentioned but I’ve been triangulating some text messages and Facebook searches based on a DM article I just read from yesterday.

Parents of baby E & F sent in the ‘gorgeous hamper’ “just over 3 months” after baby E died, which was August 4th.

LL searched for the parents on Facebook on November 5th.

**Surely** this must have been the trigger for that particular FB search? Which makes me wonder why on earth she would have claimed to not remember doing it? If this is a sensible conclusion to draw, that is perfectly explainable and legal (parking the poor professionalism, as ever with this case…)

Wow heavy reading today. I’m heartbroken for the families and the precious babies that the medical staff allowed this to go under the radar for so long. Clearly that consultant was not doing her job properly if she allowed the death to be registered as being caused by NEC. If only she had investigated properly it could’ve ended the deaths there.

However, to me this doesn’t prove anything in way of LL being NG. To me it proves further that the conditions of that ward were such that LL was able to go on for as long as she did getting away with it. It probably gave her encouragement that other staff weren’t pushing for PMs or doing thorough investigations into the deaths.

I also don’t think it’s hugely shocking as I’ve had multiple people in my family who were not diagnosed with something soon enough. Where the doctor told them it was one thing only to come back months later and have changed their mind. Sadly it does happen, it’s not right but doctors aren’t all-knowing, they do make mistakes.

“Letby: "It's the luck of the draw...unfortunately."

Anyone thinking this is feeling very similar to her “element of fate comment”
It reminds of Ted Bundy who rationalized in his mind that 'People go missing all the time, so what's a few more' and that's how he thought he'd get away with it.

I wonder if Lucy kind of went along the same line of 'Babies die all the time, what's a few more in such a chaotic setting'. Basically thinking nobody would really notice

It doesn't make sense to me at all to form a decision based on one side of a whole picture? It's literally the prosecutions case for the taking at the moment. Everything they present will be to fit their Guilty narrative. I can't get my head around writing a whole story off based on a very biased, one sided argument?

If, after the defence have weighed in, on the balance of probability it seems she did do it, I'd be more than happy to say that. As it stands right this second, I just couldn't say that, as I don't have all the pieces of the puzzle.

Edit: 'more than happy' sounds awful. What I mean is, I'd feel more comfortable in myself that I'd listened to all arguments, weighed up the info, took into consideration everything etc before making a decision.

It was on the main ITV news too so might be on again at 10pm.
Can someone be so kind as to screenshot this - 10pm feels vverryy late for me tonight 🥴 🥴
