I must say as someone who spent a lot of time in NICU and worried if we would even go home it is really lovely seeing how many with no experience of NICU have educated them selves and do not fail to give these babies credit❤Some posts I have saw on here come across that the babies were written off from the start because they were in NICU and they would have died anyway. Thinking off the poor parents 😢
You've taken it personally. It was just a reference to how fragile premature babies can be, and how much there is still to learn about neonatal medicine. I'm glad it works out well for most.

I must admit I didn’t realise until this trial how rare it was for premature babies to die. It’s so wonderful to know this though. What amazing science and healthcare we have in these modern times that the vast majority do make it home. I’ve no doubt it’s a tough journey though from everything I’ve read on here ❤

I’m very fortunate to not have experience of a baby in NICU but it really upsets me when I see people write them off as being sick and premature as if that is the only possible explanation. I feel like it’s similar to gaslighting. I know we still have defence to come but it’s so important to really listen and take on board what all these doctors and nurses and medical experts are saying about the babies and the collapses.

Why are these collapses not happening up and down the country if the reason is because the babies are fragile and it’s something unknown about neonates we’ve not learned yet?

Given medicine has advanced in such a way that a baby born at 22weeks gestation, can be saved & thrive there's not much left to learn.
It's insulting your giving premature babies less than the credit they deserve. They're stronger than you think.

Thank you for this post❤I think it speaks a lot of volume that if there were babies who did die of complications which were not suspicious, it shows not everything is being pinned on Lucy.

what more do you think there is to learn? Your comment was insensitive given the topic.

When they have good care. This trial has uncovered a series of problems with the running of this particular unit that MAY have complromised that (not saying Letby isn't also guilty)

"there's not much left to learn"

That's the craziest thing I've read on here.

It's a statement, you don't need to be a head fella over it.
Obviously there will always be things to learn, but when your making advancements that a child born at 22 weeks gestation can have some form of amazing quality of life I think you've learnt and advanced medicine a fair amount.
I presume you've never had NICU experience so I'll just ignore your pig ignorance at how amazing premature babies actually are.
For the record, my daughter was born at 720g faced some seriously horrific issues at the hands of sub-standard care yet she's here to tell the tale 🖕🏻

and you don’t think this trial also uncovered how many times this same hospital tried to save these babies? It is not normal for babies to just collapse and die even in the NICU.

Two independent reviews say it didn’t explain it. Do you know more than them? Do you think in the previous years when they had 1/2/3 deaths that they had hundreds more nurses and doctors and nobody was overworked or tired or whatever else is supposed to cause babies to spontaneously go into cardiac arrest?

You really are being unnecessary rude and abrasive. Not to mention wholey ignorant and insensitive when it comes to NICU babies.

This is why Letby, or whoever was responsible for murdering these babies if you choose to believe it wasn't her, murdered these babies. They were the prefect victims, couldn't speak up, couldn't push her away, couldn't tell anyone what she was doing or trying to do to them. And because some people fail to educate themselves they will gladly go along with the idea that they would have died anyway.

You were rude and abrasive. You got a rude and abrasive answer back. Sadly I can't help feel that that's exactly what you were looking for.

Anyone would think the rest of the nhs is fully funded, fully staffed, with optimal care at all times and it’s just Chester that’s the anomaly for the entire country.

🙌🏼I’d like to add the Nicu I was in they were also short staffed, often the girls would have to work extra shifts and again I never witnessed anything like this, nothing even close. Also are we supposed to believe they were so short staffed that they were absolutely ran off their feet but Lucy managed to text her pals at many given occasion plus leave babies to do as she pleased?

So true but so heartbreaking 💔 although it just made me think about the baby they said screamed which was unusual. He was trying to tell somebody something 😢

honestly I dont know, I was just speculating on reasons why they might not have enough evidence even if they thought she was involved.

With the insulin, the problems started with the first bag, not the second. experts are saying it was the first bag she had access to and hung, and even though she wasn’t there when they changed to the second bag, it could have been contaminated by the first (via giving set was something they said). The experts seem very certain that the first bag had to be the one that was tampered with but we obviously need to hear it in detail. Won’t be long actually as that was baby F.

Just adding from Wiki below as it explains how the second bag can be contaminated by the first better than I can.

I might have misunderstood but could she have also put insulin into the second TPN bag when she was collecting the first? Didn’t it say their made up else where so would they have stored more than one for the baby?

In theory she could have injected into the 2nd without anyone knowing. I’m not sure when she would have got to the 2nd but I was under the impression they were just kept in the fridge together

Completely agree. The burnt out and spiteful ones are the ones who give us a bad name. I have known a few who seemed to go into the job because it gave them power over vulnerable people. They were vile.

I have seen an older nurse pin a patient to the wall by their throat, and another older one tell a black patient they looked like a monkey. Most would never, ever do that, but the bad buggers really are awful.

Luckily, new staff coming in tends to revitalise units a bit, and the culture tends to improve.

Edit: and yes, managing patient and family expectations, or patients denying they need help, does make the job so much harder.
To be fair he was always a bleep.
When he left (was pushed out) of MH nursing he bought a shop with his ex woman on the side, now new woman, and the latest person he’d pissed off (or whoever) spray painted on the side of the shop ‘who thinks (insert name) is not a bleep?’.
He was raging. Most other people people in the village were gutting themselves laughing 😆

Those of you who question LL’s involvement with the insulin poisoning, are you doubting that it happened at all? Or just that she did it? Because we know there was insulin poisoning, so if it wasn’t LL (who handled the bag) who was it? Is there another murderer on the loose?

Do you think that’s more likely than it being the one person all the clues point to?

I don't really understand how people can dispute the many doctors and medical experts who have said that these babies should not have died when they did.
If they say the babies could only have died by someone causing their death deliberately, I don't get how someone can question that.

One question: if LL is found guilty of this, does anyone know if the police may then advise other parents that they think LL murdered their baby too, but there isn't enough evidence for the CPS to prosecute, or would the police keep quiet? 😔
