Letby: "I think from a confidence point of view I need to take an ITU baby soon."

🤢
Honestly the few doubts I had about any possibility of innocence are long gone, now I'm as close to guilty as you could get without being able to say 100%. There's just no way there can be so many red flags and them all be sheer rotten luck.

I really hope we get to find out what triggered the house search and digging up of the gardens … what did they find that lead them to that decision, is that a normal response when investigating a serial killer when the location seems to be in one place only?

Letby added, in the message to her mum: "He only weighted 800g...new girl was looking after him, she is devastated."

New girl was looking after baby C but we know that letby was the only person in that room from her SECOND interview when child c collapsed? Seems like another go at quickly deflecting blame!

She’s also the one that seems to bring up the subject of the babies all the time, she texts other people to inform them of the deaths too which I find a bit off. Like she has to be the one to tell people.

I can’t imagine growing up and your birth story being ‘I was born a twin, but they were murdered and then someone tried to murder me too.’ 🤯

The first 'agreed evidence' statement comes from Child C's mother, dated January 2019.

That date suggest’s baby C wasn’t part of the initial investigation into letby. Parents of babies A & B were first interviewed in 2017. They obviously went back and looked into the death of baby C and realised later it was suspicious. I am assuming they must have some pretty strong evidence now for baby C other wise why include him within the charges, but dismiss others. How incredibly sad and distressing, that after 4 years of trying to come to terms with the loss of your baby, you then get told it may not be what it seems. It’s a hell of a long time 😞

So because she doesn’t get what she wants she feels like there’s not much team spirit? Anyone would think she was the only one who tried to resuscitate baby A. It’s entirely about her when we know how affected other doctors and nurses were.
Without sounding awfull I worked 10 years on a busy ward and every death was heartbreaking ( adult ) but we had to get on with the job yes we would all wish each other well and ask how other staff members was after the death but the next day you didn’t speak about it . I often went home upset over a death I attended a mans funeral only because he was in for such a long time I formed a good bond with him and his lovely wife and the staff agreed for me to attend as I often went in on my days off because he wouldn’t let anybody else do his personal care . Like I say though you get on with the job and nobody speaks about it after . Clearly Lucy was seeking attention and constant praise from her work colleagues.

Horrific reading this morning. Please everyone take care and take time out if needed.

I have to be honest, I was on the fence about baby A but it seems so certain this was not an accident. It’s heartbreaking. Aside from being there, it doesn’t necessarily prove that LL did it - but I’m sure more evidence is going to point towards her.
Reading the evidence the medical experts this morning ..just finished reading Dr Bohin's evidence ( after reading up on her background)
She's not just some fly by night who has put her neck on the line saying the babies were administered air....if LL didn't do this then someone else did......bloody heartbreaking💔💔.

I think I will re-post this on every thread:

“I killed them on purpose because I'm not good enough to care for them. I am a horrible evil person.'

What explanation is her defence going to come up with for this?

From The Leader/Chester Standard:
As was the case with Child B, the prosecution say, Lucy Letby was not the designated nurse for Child C, a baby boy. Letby was assigned to look after a baby girl, and the leading nurse had to reinforce this assignment.

part of that pattern emerging 🤨. Seems letby was insistent on being in room 1. She wasn’t just messaging other staff about it she was ignoring the leading nurse about where she should be and when. It appears from evidence so far she was obsessing about wanting to be in nursery 1. However, we are then supposed to believe she can’t remember at all why she was in there? Her memory is very selective!
Just to add to this it sounds like her designated baby needed her care and she was neglecting them.

I so wanted an air embolus to be a horrific accident that is quite easy to be done and unfortunately common … it’s not, this is in my eyes deliberate and calculated murder 💔

Third medical expert Dr Sandi Bohin

Dr Bohin says she was asked to peer review Dr Evans's reports and was to find whether she agreed with them, disagreed with them, or had additional findings to present.

She has also considered other findings from other independent experts in the case.

The UVC placement and long line placement did not have any contribution to Child A's death, Dr Bohin tells the court.

Was the stopping of breathing for Child A caused by his prematurity, the prosecution asks.

Dr Bohin said it could be ruled out as there were no previous episodes, and caffeine had already been administered to counteract it as a precaution.

She says the "only plausible explanation" for Child A's collapse is an air embolus.

Oh wow this is new information…. can anyone here elaborate?

Dr Bohin said doctors and nurses are "absolutely meticilous" in making sure even "the tiniest air bubble" is not injected by accident into a patient's circulation.

She adds that even if air was accidentally administered, there is an electronic pump system which would detect the air and stop the administration.

Dr Bohin explains to the court that could be bypassed further down the line by administering the air embolus via a connector normally used for administering drugs.

Off topic, but I feel like I’ve really struggled with the idea that someone could be so evil, and that’s why I was sure she was innocent. But today I was remembering this medical student I knew who literally said that she thought all disabled people should be sterilized so they couldn’t have kids 💀.
I also knew 2 other male medical students who regularly used to grope girls on nights out at the SU and one of them eventually ended up getting accused of rape, not sure what happened with him in the end but I 100% believe whoever it was who accused him of it. Anyway, my point is, a lot of shitty people defo do go into healthcare professions (obv not all serial killers ofc) so I’ve no idea why the idea that ‘people can’t be that evil’ keeps clouding my views tbh.

The prosecution are saying the motive is to under the babies. There could literally be a ton of other reasons, not all of them rational! If she was actually going through trauma at the time the likelihood of her being rational is reduced.

From a career perspective most of us that work aim to do a role that stimulates us in some way. It is probably the reason many doctors and nurses specialise in the areas they do. Some will prefer ‘busy’ specialties, while others will prefer the more mundane.
I work on a busy ward and you go into work to look after the patients you are allocated. Not moan about getting the less poorly. There is no mention as of yet of her applying for other areas to stimulate her more.
She chose to work in neonates and you can't pick and choose which bays and side rooms you want. Every set of patients you are given, you devote your 12 hour shift to. Not spend god knows how long texting colleagues because you haven't had the ones you wanted.
I absolutely stand by what I say when I say it doesn't add up...to me. But I don't matter in regards to the case. I'm not on that jury thank goodness.
I have swayed from guilty, to unsure and over the past few days firmly in the guilty camp once again. I've said before and will say again, I am very happy to hear anything that will change my mind again or cast doubt in my mind but as a health professional myself, I don't buy her narrative

I’ve not posted here yet, but I’ve been keeping up to date with the trial so far and reading everyone’s thoughts.

Until now I’ve been keeping an open mind.

Yesterday seems to have changed something for me. Until now, I’ve kind of dissociated when reading about this, I don’t know whether it’s the anonymity of the babies, but I really avoided thinking of the reality of those tiny precious most vulnerable babies. I so wanted it not to be true, because HOW can any human do something so utterly horrifying. it’s impossible to fathom. I would look at the pics of LL, and the people who’ve known her and expressed shock at the charges, and think no, there must be another explanation.

But yesterday it seems it will now become clear these deaths were deliberate. Those medical experts are credible, and the defence so far seems to have nothing.

I can get past the note, the FB searches. They can be explained either way I think. But I feel that as time goes on, it will start to require mental gymnastics to suggest someone was doing this and it wasn’t LL.

If LL done this (and if I was on the jury I’d be leaning that way today) then she can rot. But. I’m so disappointed in the hospital. Dr E said he reviewed 33 deaths?? A ten fold increase?? Moving LL from night to day shifts?? It’s not like monitoring someone who’s dipping the till, these were babies LIVES at risk. And babies DIED. If consultants and staff had suspicions since June 2015, why were things able to continue on that trajectory for a YEAR.

It’s simply awful and there are just no words.

Letby adds: "It probably sounds odd but it's how I feel x"

The colleague responds: "Well it's up to you but I don't think it's going to help."

After further messages are exchanged, the colleague suggests: "Why don't you go in 1 for a bit?"

Letby responds: "Yeah, I have done a couple of meds in 1."

Letby later adds: "Forget I said anything, I will be fine, it's part of the job. Just don't feel like there is much team spirit tonight x"

The colleague replies: "I am not going to forget but think you're way too hard on yourself..."

Letby referred to previous events she had seen in a women's hospital, and the support available following such events.

*****************

I think we are now starting to get answers to the question whether she was an attention seeker and enjoyed the drama
So because she doesn’t get what she wants she feels like there’s not much team spirit? Anyone would think she was the only one who tried to resuscitate baby A. It’s entirely about her when we know how affected other doctors and nurses were.

The doctor was a terrible witness for the prosecution and only helped her defence IMO
I disagree. I think the fact him and other senior colleagues had suspicions about Lucy strengthens the prosecution case. I know he and others were wrong to not take it further when none of the bosses acted on their concerns but I think it’s a stronger position than all her colleagues saying they didn’t notice anything unusual or have any suspicions.

If he’s lying to try and look the hero as a PP suggested, then that’s not working out very well for him is it? I see no reason for him to lie about it at all, he was only ever going to come out of this looking bad with this testimony and I’m sure he knows that.

I’m curious to know how those who have been in the NG/on the fence camp so far are feeling after today? It seems pretty damming.

For me, it’s just further strengthened my feeling that she’s guilty. And I’m worried about how much more will come out, and how much worse it will get. My heart breaks for all of the families and other staff involved in this. It is horrendous.
Well you all know I’ve been firmly in the innocent camp and said I would be until I heard some evidence that convinced me otherwise, and I have to say, this has been the evidence which has swung me tbh.
I will wait to hear the defense first, but she is looking very guilty with this right now.

I don’t even want to keep an open mind anymore I’ve heard enough and I think she’s absolutely guilty only she was charged for the crimes and no other member of staff was around , all the Dr reports and suspicions aswell . These deaths wasn’t hospital failings something happened to them poor babies 😢
