Five attempts at a long line.. I don't know how bad that is to be fair, but isn't it usual to try twice then let someone else as skilled have a go?
Again that's the olden days and adults.
2 attempts at a UVC were attempted by a junior Dr. Then 1 attempt at a leg longline was done by a registrar. This attempt was successful.
That’s 2 failed attempts by one Dr and 1 successful placement by a more senior Dr.
At least that’s what I recall for Baby A.

The defence or the prosecution would be able to utilise it?
Pls TL;DR for us lol 😂
Last line I’m struggling to work out what you’re saying? Lol
It was unclear to me what exactly the defence were going to be able to say. They could both use it yes but I think it suits the defence if it doesn’t sound conclusive either way. I think they even bring this study up themselves. Obviously I don’t understand the words with more than 6 letters tho lol

And if anyone who read the study could explain the first table we see that would be great?

Even so, are we to expect that something so rare is going to all of a sudden keep happening to babies Letby has just given intervention too and in such an extreme way? And when medical experts have very clearly said the reasons why it has to have been administered? Two babies with shocking inexplicable amount of air in places not before seen (except in this case!) but comparable only to huge trauma like car crashes? And it just keeps happening at this hospital and keeps happening when Letby is there when there’s hardly any examples of it happening at all and this is equipment that’s commonly used in babies with these problems. That’s a big, big ask isn’t it.
A previous paper concluded that cases do come in clusters, then you have the report into failings in the unit that stated that warnings about machinery malfunctioning were ignored repeatedly.

The argument that there were (sadly) so many parents and babies that it could be hard to recall specifics of which baby and which family is valid. But that argument would apply to events leading up to it too. She was involved with at least 22 sudden unexpected collapses but she can remember specifically years later it was nurse Taylor that hung up the bag for child a. Even though she was the one that signed to say it was administered.

Its the inconsistency that’s the issue. And that the one specific detail she can remember is conveniently implicating another nurse. It’s highly suspicious.
I don’t know I think I’d remember more what happened before than after myself. As if after it happened I was upset I’d go through it in my mind, I wouldn’t necessarily go through what happened after it happened though. If that makes sense? And going through the situation and replaying it in my mind I’d think what I did and what others did and if we could do anything different. And even if it’s been a while since, the going through it in my mind imo would make it stick in my memory more?
Like I remember something bad happening in my job I remember what happened, what I did in helping and realising something bad was happening and what the other person did, I know for sure that person did it (it wasn’t her fault what happened, it would’ve happened anyway but at that point we didn’t know that) but I don’t remember what happened afterwards. Because I always think of the events that caused it and not what happened after. Like I remember the conversation beforehand about what we were going to do as well but not what happened after.

And everyone’s gone to read the study
I got to a pdf version. I’ve added a link at the point he refers to it (search 1989 in wiki) and just considering a separate section.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1592039/pdf/archdisch00901-0075.pdf

I’m starting to struggle with organising the wiki with the huge amount of witnesses and experts. We now only have child A - D on first page as I keep filling it.
I anticipate 8 sub pages at this rate 😂
how exactly does it work? Do you fill a page due to an amount of characters or is it more a file size thing?

from what I can find I think you can determine air embolus beyond doubt by using a ct scan, I’m not sure about baby a or b, but with baby c they say something about a brain scan where they determine no brain activity. Is a brain scan and a ct scan the same thing?
