Liz Jones #7 If she's got two faces, why does she wear that horrible one?

Curiously enough, the one common factor in all of these acrimonious exchanges is HER.

Every single person she encounters seems not to be ale to stand the sight of her - I wonder why? We only hear about how they have treated her - not how she has spoken to them (or not spoken - perhaps just slammed stuff down) when she has approached them.

I think she is such a sour-faced, snooty baggage that she'll look down her nose at mere "retail staff" from start to finish. She's lucky not to get her turkey teeth knocked out.

The stupid self-service till kept being unable to scan, and the supervisor who came over said, ‘You need to learn how to use them.’
Me: ‘OK, in that case, can you write an award-winning column in a national paper by 4pm then 2,400 words overnight for the US? No, didn’t think so.’

I love that she put the "award-winning" bit in. The journalistic equivalent of "Do you know who I am?"
To be honest, could the Lidl supervisor do any worse writing that Liz?

I think we all know the answer to that . . . 😂

I have to confess that I also have a lot of trouble with the Lidl self-service tills, but I have never had any unpleasantness from any staff member who's come to help me out. They're always very kind. I've had comments similar to the one above but not said in a nasty way - more in an "They take some getting used to" sort of way. And I'm willing to put money on that's how it was meant when the supervisor said it to Liz. It wasn't meant as a snark, but she chose to take it as one.

In life I largely find that people treat you the way you treat them. If you are pleasant and respectful, they will return that attitude. If you are rude and dismissive, ditto. Retail staff are in the unenviable position of having to be polite to very rude people for a lot longer than they would tolerate them in their personal lives. I honestly think that Liz goes in with an attitude, looks for things to get arsey about (and manufactures them if there aren't any), and then uses them as an excuse to treat people like :poop:.

She's appalling..

I very much doubt it. She’s got absolutely no embarrassment practically boasting about how actual she is.

She's is so bloody miserable about everything, what an mood drainer her column is. Why can't she lease a newer car like everyone else, or at least not pretend that having an old banger is expensive and futile. She ducks up using a self service till, instead of getting the shop assistant to show her where she's going wrong, she turns into a miserable old cow about it.
And guaranteed, she never answers back in the way she says she does, she just crawls away feeling wronged and rewriting in her head for her god awful column.
The Mail should duck her off now, the farticles and column are beyond a joke.

If she could have chucked more money at keeping the dog alive she would have opted for that. She has learned nothing about keeping suffering dogs alive longer than necessary. The way she describes the dogs tail shaved due to hygienic reasons is that the dog was crapping and weeing itself because it couldn't get up. That would distress the dog. I'm more sad that the dog suffered longer than need be rather than Liz's misery.

Oh gosh, I cried reading that (I have a collie) but I think she left it too long and Mini suffered.

I was going to post the same.

That poor dog suffered so much more than she need have done. This isn't love; it's pure selfishness. I don't doubt that Liz will suffer terribly and convince herself it is because she's lost her best friend. It isn't. It's self-pity.

Real love for your animal companion is to bite the bullet and do what is best for them. Accept that their life has become a burden to them, that they have lost all dignity, are in pain, distress, or even are just tired and ready to let go. And then help them out of their suffering by having the courage to bring in the vet.

She describes the dog suddering - to me that suggests that the animal is in inexpressible pain. It should never have reached that stage. As the saying goes - Better a week to early than a day too late.

RIP Mini. Your poor faithful heart is free now. (And I hope that your owner doesn't take on another animal that she can't train or properly care for.)

Completely agree that the poor dog was left to suffer for too long. I've never had dogs, but have cats. I had to say goodbye to one of my oldest boys last year; it is the final act of love that I could do for him. Heartbreaking, but he wasn't responding to treatment and we ran out of options.

I’m sorry, but £24k in vet’s bills is batshit insane and this is a hill on which I will die.

We spent 5 grand on a dog once - and I wouldn't do it again. We didn't have insurance, but had been putting money by in a separate bank account especially for the animals - it went in one fell swoop (plus some).

However, the worst bit was her suffering post surgery. The pain we alleviated by medication, but she voided her bowels repeatedly - foul, reeking, semi-liquid faeces. We had to keep her in an indoor kennel so that she didn't move about too much, and I slept downstairs beside her. Four or five times.a night she would have a very unpleasant bowel movement and it would squirt out under pressure - very sudden, no warning. I had to lean Into the cage, help her out, wash her, dry her as best as I could, change her bedding, cover it with towels, help her back in. She was very distressed and shivered all the time and cried with pain on occasions even though I was very gentle with her. Even when she was able to move around a little without damaging herself, and came out of the kennel, she was having awful BMs and was very upset if she didn't make it out of the house (dogs have a great sense of dignity). She was also in discomfort from the surgery, and you can only give them so much in the way of painkillers.

I honestly wouldn't put an animal through it again. It's seven years on now, and we still have her and I lover her to bits, but honestly? No. Never again. Even if the surgery was free I wouldn't do it.

I wouldn’t believe a word of this. Liz’s magic number for years used to be in the £20k mark. £20k+ for the bat house , £20k+ for holidays etc etc etc. She’s increased it in line with inflation the daft cow,

Liz believes that if she inflates the price of vets bills it shows how much more she loves her pets than normal people, how far she would go for them. The fact that on a daily basic she doesn't take care of them properly, doesn't feed them the correct food and fails to train her dogs she sees as irreverent. She will now be looking for another dog to mistreat with what she perceives as kindness.
