Our city doesn’t tolerate murderers or anything of the kind and never will, we look after our own.
i'm sorry, but this is a completely empty statement and totally contradictory.
if the city ( 🥴 ) looked after our own, it'd not have any murderers.

helpful context: i live here.

From the Mail:

The driver suspected of mowing down fans at Liverpool Football Club's victory parade is a 'lovely' family man who runs his own business, it emerged today. The 53-year-old, who is being quizzed by detectives on suspicion of multiple attempted murders, driving under the influence of drugs and dangerous driving, is married with three teenage children, the Mail can reveal. Neighbours of the company director - who lives in a smart, £300,000 four-bedroomed detached property on a neat estate - described him as a 'straight family man' with 'well-behaved children' who must have 'panicked in the moment.'

A lovely family man? Aren't they all lol.
If this was a woman she would have been classed as menopausal or confused or something else derogatory - but any men in these situations are always the model citizen.

Taking the piss them, I can panic whilst driving, never in my life have I drove under the influence of drugs or decided to mow a load of fucking people down!

His background is irrelevant, he’s a self entitled twat.

Also, re the supposed healthcare workers messaging family saying people have died, I call bollocks on that. As someone said way way back, in ED you don't have time to get your phone out and start messaging, not when mass casualties are coming in. It's also not something worth losing your job over, which you absolutely would lose.

Yeah bit tone deaf to coat off a city something horrible’s just happened in.

Even texted my boss (we don’t massively get on) to check him and his lad were ok. Thankfully they are.

I am sick of mental health, autism , PTSD being used as excuses for cunty behaviour. It's actually insulting.

I read an article this morning in the Fail which mentioned that he's also a tri-athlete. They're really pushing the 'ordinary family man, totally out of character' angle aren't they? Considering what he's done, it's making me feel sick.

Whether the drug was coke, steds or prescription meds, whether he's had a responsible job in the past, whether he's a nice family man who walks the dog- he's just another bog standard violent male who's ruined lives and I'm sure we'll be encouraged to care more about his sad feels than his crime.

I’ve seen a video of snipers on the roofs of some buildings, if true and it was today then I guess they were aware of a threat.
It’s pretty standard to have snipers to be honest at something like this. LFC in an open top bus. When the party conferences and that are on they always have snipers, you just need to look up if there’s anything like that going on and you’ll see them

Because it keeps us distracted and arguing amongst ourselves?
This is pure tinfoil. Like the previous poster said there were thousands of people with camera phones there. Do you genuinely think the guy won’t be prosecuted or they’ll hang it on someone else in spite of hundreds of raging scousers seeing the guy up close and baying for his blood? To what end?

This is the picture from X.
I also saw the video of him beeping with the rear window already smashed in. It seems more like a road rage incident and the roads being reopened without the police or whoever is responsible ensuring that the crowds had been cleared.

There’s road rage and there’s killing a load of people because you’re stupid enough to drive through the city centre when the parade is on.

I don’t understand all of the drama around his age. What should a 53 year old man look like or be wearing?

Well I don’t agree with that comment and I'm not trying to be some cheerleader for her, debates and disagreements are fine but it read like a bunch of ppl shouting at her with a lot of sneery nasty stuff last night and it's horrible to be on the end of. If a poster is sincere and not trying to start a flame war there's just no need for it.
It's bound to get people's backs up if someone comes into a thread about a horrible event and says more important things are happening. And if they keep pushing and pushing the matter people will push back.
