I have no desire to be in my 20s again. Itâs quite an eye opener turning 40 and realising youâre invisible/a laughing stock just for being you. Donât be mutton dressed as lamb, donât use certain words or phrases, donât use certain filters on social media, the list goes on. Itâs misogyny and particularly sticks in the throat when it comes from a women. But this is the sad world we live in.
Oh my, I have this to look forward to then.
Funnily enough this was from a woman on the #bekind high horse. Iâd commented on a severely photoshopped picture, I said itâs sad that they photo shopped it so badly theyâve warped the girls dimensions (you could see the blur tool). I got âitâs sad that a Middle Aged woman is criticising a poor young model, women should lift each other up, not put them down, what happened to be kindâ So I said, âIâm not criticising the model, Iâm criticising a company that has used photoshop to slim a model to unachievable proportions. Itâs clearly editedâ. Again, âYouâre sad that at your age youâre commenting on young women, Youâve got zero intelligence, she just looks like that. Youâre probably jealous, grow up and act your age. Youâre bullying a poor young girl, get an IQ. These days weâre kind to each otherâ
I honestly was flabbergasted not just the fact she couldnât see her own nastiness while claiming be kind and support women, not the mere 12 yrs difference but at the use of age as such an insult. She must have seen when I attended uni as thatâs the only indication of my age too.
I fully support #bekind but itâs brandished at any kind of criticism, even valid. It shouldnât mean people canât say anything thatâs not completely positive lest we end up totally unable to accept a different opinion.
