At what point do we think lily “changed” aka become either her true self or more moan-y? It can’t be just when Grey was born, which seems like the obvious point, but I wonder if there was a change before then. Or was it when she transitioned to only beige clothes / aesthetic?
I do think she's been more moan-y since Grey was born. Might have happened before then - but I've only noticed it in the last two years or so. She hasn't been happy with her body since she had Grey and her looks have also taken a hit - I'm not saying this to be mean, but I think she has aged quite a bit in the last couple of years. I don't think motherhood is all she thought it would be - although she is trying hard to convince herself that it is everything hence her comments re: not understanding why some women don't want kids, her birthdays being nothing-y before she had Grey etc.

She seems generally unenthused these days. When talking about the loft conversion, it's clear she just wants it over and done with. She mentions in the video that they considered moving house but didn't because of the cost. I think it's pretty clear she would rather move and start over in a new house (that she can then go and ruin with her bad design choices).

She’s having a laugh isn’t she?? 😵💫 all this moaning and groaning about the reno and it’s for her office/spare bedroom??!!!? Not even for her master bedroom to make space when the new baby arrives. I would maybe understand the stress of it all if they would be left without a room if baby arrives early or something but this is just a luxury for someone who, let’s be honest, doesn’t even work much or need such a space to work in?!!

All that will happen is she’ll use this to moan that the finishing isn’t great in a year’s time and once again lots of waste and lots of begging.

She really does irritate the hell out of me.

I think they’re doing it to add value and sell it on as four bed two bath home, but she’s doing it cheaply otherwise she won’t get back what they’ve invested. Which isn’t a terrible decision financially but it’s a choice she’s made so she needs to get over the mess and disruption it causes as no one made her do it. It’ll be on the market within a year of finishing I bet.

The fact that she’s building a bigger office and yet on the room design plan there’s still only her tiny desk 😂😂

She would have no personality if she moved outside of London, it's the only thing even vaguely close to a personality trait that she has other than moaning.
And now, constant home renovations!

I bet they had an estate agent came to value their house and realised that they wouldn’t be able to recoup the cost. So they decided to do a loft conversion.
Yes shoestring budget but she will get some free tiles and sponsorship to do up her room. Jess managed to get sponsorship from Heals, and Alice managed to get sponsorship from West Elm, do-able

I thought it sounded like someone had a gun to her head and was forcing her to have a loft conversion.

How does she turn every nice, exciting, privileged thing in her life into a negative, her moaning powers are really quite impressive!

I know. How weird. I just don’t want to age like her.
I feel very bad for her. I bet she never thought life after baby can be so different, she was so upbeat back then.
Things that help you age gracefully that I GUARANTEE Lily has not done: Drink lots of water, eat lots of dark leafy greens, develop a good vitamin regimen, use spf all the time, cleanse with a nutrient rich cleanser often, moisturize at night with oil, get a facial as often as you can afford (and build a relationship with a facialist), get preventative Botox and do laser / peels annually (and build a relationship with the dermatologist.)

Lily’s aging problem is prob first and foremost her awful attitude. But secondly, she’s switched around her product so much, and not selected her products based on their efficacy but rather if they were free. For example, she uses that Clinique take the day off balm, which I think she was first turned on to bc it was free and she continued to buy, but it’s a terrible cleanser. The Kiehl’s Centella is a better option, but something from Dermalogica, Biologique Recherche or RégimA is WAY better, and she can afford that price bracket.

Same with moisturizing with oil, I’m pretty sure she just uses what’s around or was sent to her and doesn’t use good night moisturizers for her nighttime skincare, based upon videos from a long time ago (since she has done a skin care routine video in ages - maybe she does have a modicum of self awareness and realizes it would be a joke to do one now!)

She’s snobbish about getting treatments from actual skin care professionals, so that’s her loss in the year 2021 bc there’s a million things out there that can help you look YOUR best. She still seems to think that aesthetic treatments will leave you looking plastic. And she’d never pay to see the same person, she gets once-off freebies that are crappy and then once-off freebies to remedy them etc. I mean, she got sponsored teeth that look like horse teeth, there’s no way she’s going topay to work with the same facialist monthly or cosmetic dermatologist annually.

And we know she doesn’t take care of herself with vitamins, exercise, water intake etc. She actually complains in this video about sore lips, which is before her wedding—so all her demonizing of that “one” evil lipstick that caused her lip eczema was probably unfounded.

Anyway, learn from Lily’s mistakes, kids. Horrible aging does not have to be the answer when “keeping it real” 🤣🤣🤣🤣

It really does seem this way!

I mean, I know having work done on your house can be messy and disruptive - but nobody forced her into it! Honestly, I have been known to have my moan-y moments - but I have nothing on Lily!

Her hair looks so bad throughout the vlog. Also she is moaning about the loft conversion because she HATES spending her own money

@stinkytink beautifully said!

It was actually this thread and Lily’s tit hair that influenced me to buy high quality hair care & develop a protein + moisturizer mask routine, and my hair looks better for it — so much so people are commenting on it too.

Lily has the means to actually look great but chooses to be cheap and look it, too.

I must admit I love the Clinique take the day off, but only for makeup, and I use other cleansers after to actually cleanse my face.

Lily looks old and haggard (sorry, it’s mean, ik) and there’s really no excuse for her to. I’m 35 in February and got mistaken for a student the other day — I’m a lecturer. I work out a lot, wear spf every single day no matter what, drink 3+ liters of water a day, and have a skin care routine that works for me.

I do wish for Lily that she can turn her attitude around and feel a little bit happier in herself and with her family + choices. Carrying around all of that misery must feel truly terrible.

I love how Lily actually influenced us to be non-Lily. Hehe she is such an influencer isn’t she

Your advice is pretty much what I needed. After watching Lily’s old video yesterday, I went on to buy skin+me and ordered a 3.3l water bottle from Amazon. I drink a lot of water anyway, but 3.3l looks something I should do.
Anyway, do you have any recommendations for oils? Or anything that you rate? I cut down my regime this year because I was getting lots of bumps on my face, it feels congested. I am using La Roche cleanser and Cerave moisturising cream and La Roche Posay retinol. I would love to reintroduce some oils, any recommendations?

Off topic, but I started Skin+Me about 3 weeks ago (still getting through the purging stage) and they don't recommend use of any oils on the face (even cleansing oils) while you're having that treatment.

Lily barely gets any exercise, when she leaves the house it's often in a car. She doesn't get 3k steps a day in, never mind 10k. How can someone age gracefully by sitting on their arse all day?

The Ordinary Rosehip oil is really good, good for all skintype including combo

I noticed a ramp up in moaning when she moved into her flat once the engagement high wore off.

I put it down to the slap in the face from realising how much boring life admin there is when you don’t live at home with mum & dad taking care of everything. She would have been so used to not worrying about everything from getting groceries & household items to paying council tax to cleaning etc, just coming and going as she pleased. What — if you don’t go shopping there’s no food magically appearing in the fridge?!

Also probably taking her mum & dads huge house & garden for granted - her flat was small with very little storage.

We all go through it at some point when we leave the nest but lily seems permanently overwhelmed with basic life stuff and outraged that she is expected to have to deal with such mundanities. She also lived at home at longer than the average

Haha she is! Influencing us to take better care of ourselves since she is a cautionary tale! I love that everyone is saying they are or aspire to drink 3 liters, as 4 is about what I drink and my family hates it because I am always like, where’s my water, we don’t have water, I need to buy water, 😂😂

I don’t know the Skin+Me system so very glad @EP123 flagged the no-oil caution! As for the bumps, that could be congestion! I’m definitely not a trained skincare professional, obviously, but do you think a gentle exfoliant or clarifying product might help? Sometimes I use The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution when I feel dull and congested, which helps. I used to use Juice Beauty, and think that many aspects of their entire product range could help with congestion (“clean” products, fruit acid, etc.) Speaking of, I also like their cleansers. @LittleBluebird using the Clinique balm as a pre-cleanser (Dermalogica has a similar concept, but I totally agree with you - either one is for use BEFORE an actual cleanser.)

@jaymie If you’re able to use oils in future, some that I have found lovely for my dry-ish, fair, slightly sensitive skin are:
-Naturopathica (love their serums as well, but a brand difficult to get outside of US)
-Dermalogica Phyto Replenish
-Kiehl’s Midnight Oil (sometimes I use a splash of this during the day!)
-Anything RégimA
-The Ordinary Squalane Oil for day and more liberal amount with a heavier cream for night

I did try The Ordinary rosehip oil and that is my second favorite, but I prefer the squalane as it is more neutral and gentle. Edit: For a really hydrating and inexpensive eye moisturizer, I’ve actually been tapping the squalane oil around my eyes and sealing it off with CeraVe eye cream (learned about how great and cheap that is from Gotham Beauty, see below.) I did recently do a tiny bit of filler below my eye and I don’t have under-eye darkness, so this works for me.

I would not do this if you feel congested, but maybe in future: the other night I felt really dry and slathered Bio-oil (used to be difficult to get outside of South Africa, but now more common in Europe - idk about UK) on my chest and neck, and the next morning I looked so hydrated and glowing! I’m going to do my chest with that one more often; it’s an affordable solution to my main aging concern, which is a wrinkly chest (thanks big boobs and living in sunny places - all fun and games until you’re 40😂)

Forget about influencers for skincare advise, there are great channels dedicated to skincare like Mad About Skin https://www.youtube.com/c/MadAboutSkin/videos
This is a good one! I like Gotham Beauty and pretty much all Korean/Japanese products and tips. And Dr. Shereene Idriss empowers viewers with the knowledge so they can make their own decisions (and is more authentic / keeping it real than Lily could ever be, because Dr. Idriss KNOWS WHO SHE IS and WHAT SHE STANDS FOR!)

I feel weirdly nostalgic watching those old vlogs. I used to LOVE Lily’s videos but now they are just moan fest after moan fest.
It’s crazy to see how much brighter and happier she seems in those old videos. When did she get so moany? I really feel like she’s just going through life ticking off milestones (house, baby, reno, repeat) without realising maybe this life was never what she really wanted? I feel sad for her, she seems miserable all the time.
