He must have been in Bear’s life recently - this was before the release of his latest single and has just broken my heart.

as someone who lost a parent through addiction you can’t ever let yourself believe it was a choice, it’s the hardest battle to have in your own head and if you let it win then it’s a dangerous place to be for your own happiness and future. Not a huge fan of Cheryl but I think she will handle this in exactly the right way with Bear.

The song Angel of My Dreams by Jade really empathises what Liam would have been feeling, an extreme happiness and adrenaline rush through being famous and in the spotlight but as the same time, a puppet who is forced to dance on strings for everyone else. I’ve been feeling quite upset because I remember as a 13 year old waiting for What Makes You Beautiful to debut on YouTube in 2011. It hits home how much we take for granted, our lives, health, friends, family, everything. It’s crazy to think how much I wanted to be famous when I was younger, just to be known and have a “fun life” but honestly it seems tit, even if you pursue singing or acting, the celebrity culture is awful but you’re forced to deal with it because you can’t escape it. And while some people choose that lifestyle, they don’t deserve the crap that it involves, we’re all human and we don’t know when our last day will be.

I wouldn’t have classed Niall as a global star. Harry for sure but not Niall
Niall has just finished a world tour. He is majorly popular, although perhaps not on the same level as Harry, and has accomplished far more than Liam did in the music industry. Must suck to see your friends/ex band mates achieving what you want and haven't managed.

I've never been a big One Direction fan and Liam was probably my least favourite, but I saw him perform at a football match before he was on X Factor and he did Buble's Cry Me A River and he was phenomenal. Unfortunately, for me, his death is sad but not unexpected.

What an ignorant remark.
My grandfather died young from alcohol disease, as did his son (my uncle) leaving behind 2 young kids. My Nan and my aunt nearly went to early graves themselves trying to get them sober time after time. Believe me, I wish that I was ignorant of the wave of devastation that alcohol brings into families.

I was thinking also about Niall that he seems relatively normal and happy compared to the rest of them. I wonder what was different for him?

He seems to keep himself to himself more. Seems quieter. I’m no 1D fan but that’s just what I’ve seen.

What experience does Cheryl have with addicts?
Her brother and sister have both struggled with drugs. She lost a friend very young too to drug use, he was a prospective footballer and ended up addicted to H.

Sadly where Cheryl grew up drugs are part and parcel of every day life.

Can anyone explain why this news has left me terrified? I wasn’t a big 1D or Liam fan but obviously knew who he was as most people do. But this has left me so unsettled and I have no idea why. Literally read the news last night and when I had to go downstairs to make my baby’s bottle in the night I was actually scared.
Maybe I’m just weird, I can’t explain it 😂

I can’t speak for Niall but I noticed unlike the rest, he’s from a very small ish town and like me, I grew up not having a lot in my town to do things, it was a case of people knowing everyone and doing things together. It’s a much slower pace of life which tends to make you want that lifestyle. I notice there’s a huge difference in the way my friends from London and cities grew up. And this naturally pushed me into introversion.

I can’t remember what this was on but I remember an interview with Cheryl where she talks about heroin. She calls it devils dust

Dont forget harry had his image massively manipulated by PR and label. He has been media trained to be someone, complete with fauxmances and appearances in tabloids.

The other boys like zayn and louis did have scandals with their personal lives but they managed to ignore them and move on. Zayn allegedly had a fight with Gigis Mum, louis baby etc.
Liam really didnt have the support in later years. But was it out of choice. You cant help an addict until they want help.

I wonder if it's because Liam was so famous, and so vulnerable, and lots of people felt like they actually knew him? Everybody was aware he was in a bad place but no-one was able to reach out and help him, and now he's dead, it's too late. May he rest in peace, and may his loved ones gain comfort from the outpouring of love for him.

For people to say they feel sorry for Bear to have a dad who chose drink and drugs over him. Terrible way to look at it, it’s a cruel disease and a family disease at that not only does it affect the user but has affects on the whole family. It unfortunately took hold of him, he wasn’t mentally strong enough to fight the addiction and yes people may say he’s a twit etc but he’s someone’s son, brother, father. Tragic that it seems to be drug induced psychosis that took his young life.
