I take it he's a bit of a worry guts about his health? You wouldn't want to get him started talking about his ailments.

He turned up in work the day after falling on his halogen oven and was ordered to go to A and E where he spent several days in hospital, worries about some things but seemingly indifferent to others

Ian Payne is a worry. He had a conversation that he'd been prescribed statins and wasn't taking them because he was already on 2 pills a day!! He said his cholesterol was raised. Fortunately I think enough callers managed to convince him he should take them. Your 63 Ian, things will start to go wrong.
He needs to have a word with Steve Allen.

There was a report that came out this week (not the daily mail health section where a story taking one thing saves your life and the next week another story say it'll kill you) that was really positive about the benefits of them. I take one a day and it helps me, you do have to help yourself too

Both my husband and I take them.
Another thing that bothered me about that show was Ian talking about women and wolf whistling. One of his producers, Rebecca, was obviously giving him an earful in his headphones. Now, I'm not dismissing her views but,IMO, it was interfering with the show. Even Ian said something about 'I've had enough of this' then moved onto the statin chat.
I get the impression he doesn't get on with this group of producers as well as he has with previous ones.
That's unfortunate. Should producers interfere with their own views? Must be very annoying for Ian.
I don't take statins because I don't need them but I know plenty of people who do to no ill effect and this latest finding is good news.
Just looked and seen that they can cause farting!! so maybe Ian doesn't want an explosive reaction if he starts them...

Statins used to cause huge problems with some people. I had a guy at work ambulanced out because he was having so much trouble with muscle spasms and it was caused by his statins. When I started on mine I was warned about which ones to avoid for that very reason. I don't think they're prescribed anymore.
James Hanson back on his favourite topic this morning to scrap the pensions triple lock. A right mix of calls especially the guy from Inverness complaining he has a million pound pension pot from working in the NHS for 55 years who kept on repeating he could not access it. . I think what he was meaning was it doesn't increase and he cannot access it like a private pension so he needs the triple lock? He also kept on saying if anything happens to him that million pound pot is gone? Wonder where that goes if true?
These LBC presenters really do create divide in their topics. When they announce the discussion subjects, you just know the kind of calls they are going to get. They love nothing more than to create division.

I get a small civil service pension and could nominate who I wanted it to be paid to when I die. I chose to carry on with my carer's allowance rather than claim a state pension. I can't justify claiming a state pension as I only worked for 5 years before becoming a full time carer.
I would be in favour of scrapping the triple lock pension but would want the truly poor OAPs to be amply financially supported.
We all need to live within our needs.

Part of the problem seems to be that the new raft of lbc presenters tend to be young, inexperienced and idealistic, and the phone calls they get are from older people who know only too well how the world works and how difficult it is.
