Most ex-PMs manage a couple of years going through the motions before clearing off to something more profitable (Blair, Johnson) or retire. Some remain, glowering at subsequent leaders of their party from the back benches (May, Heath) The latter became known as the Big Sulk for the twenty years he maintained his grudge against Thatcher. I can't see Starmer having the success of Blair/Johnson on the lecture circuit, so he'd better dust off his wig and gown.Starmer isn't a career politician, he'll resign as an MP and go back to defending murderers in the Caribbean. That a by-election will cause problems for the Labour Party with the lunatic Greens favourite to win will make him very happy.
