LBC Chit Chat #20

Starmer isn't a career politician, he'll resign as an MP and go back to defending murderers in the Caribbean. That a by-election will cause problems for the Labour Party with the lunatic Greens favourite to win will make him very happy.
Most ex-PMs manage a couple of years going through the motions before clearing off to something more profitable (Blair, Johnson) or retire. Some remain, glowering at subsequent leaders of their party from the back benches (May, Heath) The latter became known as the Big Sulk for the twenty years he maintained his grudge against Thatcher. I can't see Starmer having the success of Blair/Johnson on the lecture circuit, so he'd better dust off his wig and gown.

Not sure that I rate his legal prowess now.

Have any of you been following Steve Allen? If so, what's he upto lately? Did I read on here a while ago he was going to start a podcast?

Despite my dislike of Starmer, if he agreed to it, I'd appoint him Foreign Secretary.
The problem with that is the way he has failed on defence. This is the hot issue in foreign affairs these days and everyone will have spotted that "war footing" Starmer was all talk and no action.

The Coalition of the Unwilling.

Shamed by Healey and Carns.

He's started a podcast, the Chit Chat Club. Nearly a hundred quid for the year but I'm really glad I joined as I've missed him a lot and it's well worth it to me. He's finding his feet with his new producers, and they seem to get on very well. I'm back to basking in the stream of trivia, which is actually pretty acute and sharp.

Other than a bit of Nick Abbott I can't be doing with LBC any more, the presenters get younger and younger which means they're unrealistic idealists who need a big dose of grown-up life to round them out. How Jobby gets kept on is a mystery, he's an unforgivable one-trick pony and so middle-brow and full of himself it hurts.

I'm not sure on the details but yes there is a podcast. It's not free. Called chit chat I think.

You can listen to his podcasts for free, I think paying gets you them a week ahead, he's 3 episodes in, 2 of which are recordings from his live show. They've left me a bit cold tbh, his picture on the thumbnail looks around 30 years old

The picture thing is a bit odd. He's been using old photos on instagramme too. We all know what he looks like.

Lol. If he is back to his acerbic old self and not trying to appease the PC brigade all the time I think it would be worth paying a hundred quid for.

Not sure I want to hear every detail of his retail shopping trips though or how his producers are at least 50 years younger than him.

It is the time of year when those on the dark side used to go wild for someone formerly of this parish.

Their Scottish poster was always desperate to remind everyone that Andrew Castle had been British number one and went to bed at night dreaming that he would send him a signed tennis ball.

Anyway it seems that it will be Andrew Castle's last season as a BBC commentator...

Another foreign policy masterclass... but am sure JOB et al will carry on as if the EU are our bestest friends and not extracting their pounds of flesh every time Starmer just wants to be invited to a zoom call with them...

Oh dear! Weird as it may seem., I do miss Jobby! Lewis is inoffensive to the point of being boring, and I do enjoy a moan and spot of p***-taking. 😜

An excellent opening hour from Lewis, dissecting man of the people (just not Clacton) Farage.

He made a very good argument regarding Farage's Trumpian behaviours and his dubious business deals which may be detracting from Reform's current high standing in the polls. A lot of people love a rogue but maybe not as a PM.

Where is Jobby? Helping Sir Keir cope with transitioning from PM to the Man Who Never Was.

Farridge as Jobby refers to him, is a gammons idea of an intelligent politician

Apparently, he's now taking 200 tablets a week for his various ailments
