There is a parliamentary bill on its way to stop MPs having second jobs. That will make our Bishop of Lamster nervous because if he does get the boot he will not be able to give his Sunday sermons on LBC.
Well without second jobs we won't have any MP as Ministers or on Select Committees....perhaps Mr Burgeon doesn't quite realise how parliament actually works...

I agree with you. he does seem quite comfortable dealing with foreign affairs. I think he would probably be fine as a minister just very weak as a PM.

Probably not but he does seem to have been very good at repairing some damaged relationships between the UK and other countries. Good at being diplomatic and shaking hands with the right people.
Starmer isn't a career politician, he'll resign as an MP and go back to defending murderers in the Caribbean. That a by-election will cause problems for the Labour Party with the lunatic Greens favourite to win will make him very happy.
Yes but any savvy politician with basic social skills could do that quite easily. It's very easy to be sycophantic as we saw in Starmer's cringeworthy initial contacts with Trump.
Starmer isn't a man of integrity. We've seen through the carefully crafted PR image. He's thrown so many of his colleagues under the bus to save his own skin.
True - mostly I'm thinking of how we used to have a shaved snow gorilla/scarecrow hybrid as Foreign Secretary to be honest so I suppose anyone was an upgrade from that.

Huh? I don't recall Boris:
- Trying to give away British territory (BIOT) to an ally of China and weaken the security of UK and US military bases (and pay for the privilege of doing so) and trample all over the rights of the (former) inhabitants of that territory who want to maintain ties with Britain
- Approve a security arrangement on a British territory (Gibraltar) that places UK citizens as second class citizens compared to Spanish ones
- Allow oneself to become a laughing stock in the eyes of the leadership of the UK's most important security partner (USA) and become increasingly irrelevant to global events, such that the only leverage remaining is wheeling out the Royal Family to smooth things over
- Threaten to cancel a youth mobility scheme (Turing) that covered more countries in order to join a more xenophobic European one at an exorbitant per head cost, which will likely plunge UK youth employment into even further crisis
- Approve a Chinese embassy building over sensitive digital and financial infrastructure
- Scrap a third country migrant settlement scheme only to realise two years later that this means more hotels, army bases and HMOs housing unvetted men from countries with differing cultures and questionable views about our country
- Water down sanctions on Russia, Russian oil, and fail to deter Russian operations in the English Channel
- Take legal action against UK armed forces, hire an Attorney General who has taken legal action against UK forces, and remove safeguards against retrospective legal attacks on UK forces
- Allow his energy secretary to prioritise green renewable production over domestic energy security, resilience, and nuclear baseload production etc.
- Fail to build upon existing trade and security partnerships with Japan, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Middle East, Africa
- Fail to do anything to safeguard UK democracy from growing trends towards nativist, nationalist, diasporic, tribal and ethnic block voting
- Further weaken UK domestic food and agricultural production through punitive and blunt tax changes on British family farms
- Take very limited action to support key allies in Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and UAE whilst they were attacked by Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah etc. and then boast about your inaction as being a strategic 'play' rather than a reality of your impotence or inability to effect anything
- Fail to fund UK defence sufficiently such that your defence secretary resigns which ultimately leads to the death knell of your premiership
