It will be interesting to see if the 'Burnham effect' will still be working when Manchester chooses a new Mayor. I think it will have worn off and they'll return to voting Reform, like the recent council.elections.
I suppose it depends on the candidate chosen after deleting all incriminating historical social media content.

As a neutral I think Burnham will be able to deal with Trump without resorting to painful sycophancy and he'll see off mad Musk which would benefit every UK citizen

Poor old Dicey Ticey and his fellow Reform mates offering up excuses and interesting "theories". Why not just be a bit more humble and say you got it wrong re the dodgy candidate?

The candidate thought he'd have 3 years to prepare for a general election and would have deleted his social media history well in advance. I know the Labour MP newly elected in my constituency in 2024 had deleted his old twitter account. Unfortunately for Kenyon the election came all to soon. Should Reform have binned him ? Maybe, but he was very popular amongst Reform members in his seat and I'm not sure they'd have taken well to Reform HQ imposing a candidate on them

Yes the old social media posts from Kenyon were pretty awful. Then again, what about Wes Streeting's old X posts? He came across as a pretty awful individual.

I honestly think Burnham got so many votes as people just want Starmer out and this was the only way to get him out as nothing seems to oust him. Burnham changes his mind to pacify anyone who is listening to him. I honestly don't think he will be any better than Starmer. I will admit he is better on the eye and he is certainly a better orator. I did hear that many Tory voters voted for Burnham to get Starmer out.

I am from the Manchester area and Burnham is most certainly not the "saint" or "king" that many people portray him as. Take a look at Piccadilly Gardens, used to be such a lovely place now it is a place you would not even enter in daylight. Plus, I cannot forget how he was involved in the grooming gang cover up in my old town too.

I would have thought it was top priority to delete social media history especially when you know you've been gobby before you knew better. I bet Kemi Badenoch has. Otherwise the vultures have a field day.

Poor old Mrs Burnham had better be clean as a whistle in terms of history.

There's been a tsunami of historic posts on X from Burnham and his supporters objecting to the Tory government swappimg PMs without consulting the electorate. eg:

Angela Rayner @AngelaRayner
·Oct 24, 2022
The Tories have crowned Rishi Sunak without him saying a word about what he would do as PM. He has no mandate, no answers and no ideas. Nobody voted for this. The public deserve their say on Britain’s future through a General ......

Same goes for Truss who will always be remembered for the damage she inflicted on the UK. Plus the woman's not all there. Tory choice.

Who on earth would be fit to win a GE though? John Healey would be my choice.

Thoughts and prayers for Jobby today for a PM
who's been ousted by his party for being completely useless

In OB's world it'll be the dastardly media's fault

7 Prime Ministers in 10 years is outrageous. When did we start treating Prime Ministers like football managers? I bet they wouldn't be so slap dash if they had to have a GE every time there was a new one. I don't dislike Burnham but I didn't vote for him. I have had no say in this whatsoever.

Jobby was, in fairness, saying last week he thought Starmer's position was untenable.

Who said he wanted the Millionaire gig? He's just jealous of JC's popularity.

I assume Clarkson must have said something critical of him. O'Brien never forgets, Andrew Neil lived rent free in his head for years

Just checked, the one eyed idiot quote was from 2009 and the Littlejohn/coroner event was from 2013. O'Brien rolls them out as though they were current and relevant. In any case, they both predated him platforming a paedophile whose words led to an innocent ex MP contemplating suicide

That "who are you" response from Andrew Neil took so few words to do so much damage to Jimbo's psyche.

Lewis Goodall...

Context Redvers. If you look at the tweet before that he was discussing waiting all day for the announcement. It was not an endorsement of the interruption just what a sad sight it was.

It's something that seriously pisses me off. I hate Steve Bray and his antics. He's just an attention seeking twit.

And it depends from which side of the political divide he's commenting.

I think Lewis Goodall, regardless of his previous political affiliations, makes fair comments overall, neither favouring left nor right. As does Ali Miraj. I much prefer this approach as opposed to the Jobby/Wright v Ferrari/ Dale bias.
