In her videos last night and today she’s constantly hiding her chin with her clothes or hands. There’s even a moment where she laughs, gets a double chin and then her face drops and her hands fly back to her face. Sad really.

she should just wear her mask under her chin, problem solved! Surprised she hasn’t tried that yet

What the duck is a “spiritual journey”?? Sounds like narcissism to me.

She is really trying hard to pivot into that life coach/Elizabeth Gilbert/Oprah/spiritual guide for millennial women with cash to throw around space, isn’t she?

Hmmm. Is the book that’s coming later this year the final one of her deal? I wonder if the fiction isn’t selling as well, or she’s just exhausted her ideas, and she’s beginning to try and mould herself into a self-help type instead. She must have made a decent amount off that end of 2020 guff webinar.

I notice she’s taken all mention of what kind of books she writes out of her bio. It used to say variations of what type of fiction she writes (it was “messy modern love” at one point!).

I thought she was off social until Feb. How disappointing. But I imagine she’s back on to sell her writing course. Btw Do not sign up for the Laura Jane Williams magazine writing course. It’s a scam. She’s never worked on a commissioning desk so doesn’t know what editors want or the current landscape (er, hardly any women’s magazines commission new writers at the moment unless they are young fresh writers of colour). And copy she delivers to editors is substandard. So she’s flunking on both sides of the course she’s trying to sell. I think it’s criminal and her followers should know.

I agree with all of this.. I was fooled and booked into an online course of hers. It was AWFUL. A waste of money and it isn’t cheap!! Would of learnt more on Google.
Absolute scam!!!

Oh mannnnn. Sorry you were scammed. Although it looks like she's pulled it as I think it was meant to be today, so maybe some kind of trading standards have caught up with her. Or more likely there was zero uptake. The testimonials looked a bit suspect to me too.

Her Stories continue to enrage me.

Now she’s adding her own caveat to Bryony Gordon’s work, claiming that when you live your life for yourself and do not worry what anyone else thinks, it angers people... they don’t like it.

NO. This is just what happens to narcissists, Laura. They way you live your life “for yourself” pisses people off because you centre yourself in everything.

Everything she does is a chance to show off how brilliant she believes she is, badly disguised as an attempt to be anti-racist/sell rip-off courses/promote her writing etc etc. I mean, does she not wonder why Bryony Gordon doesn’t have a thread here like hers?!

"As always, I used the F2 VSCO filter..." I love it when she explains why she looks so good 🤭

Ahhhh, okay. She's not really a self-indulgent self-obsessed narcissist - she's JUST MISUNDERSTOOD.

Honestly, most of the time these days, I have no idea what the duck she’s on about. Yawn.

I used to "read" her blog years and years ago. Honestly - I couldn't understand what on earth she was on about most of the time. It just kept popping up in google reader and I never got round to unsubscribing - the language was impenetrable.

Really feeling herself lately with a lot of selfies and pointless points, isn’t she? Also, check out the passive aggressive reply to the only comment she got:

edited to add: 213 likes is less than 1% of her followers. Didn’t she used to sell courses on Instagram engagement and bang on about how she only got her columns (that never went beyond a one-year contract) and book deal due to her Instagram followers? LOL.

Long time lurker on this thread - I actually couldn’t believe her reply to that poor person who commented. How rude!

Lockdown is hard for everyone but it must be especially hard for a single narcissist who can only think of the self: the fringe desperation is like she’s 15 (and millions of people aren’t dying). The obsession with the camera angles (and that face filter!) - or books that strategically cover half her face to look "cute" and minimise her weight gain, it’s quite sad. You can only can imagine how many photos of herself are on her camera roll. And all she seems to talk about is what TV she is watching or what book she’s cobblin together. It doesn’t fill me with joy. When she said her favourite line of her new book is “can’t be arsed” well, if that’s her best line, it sounds pretty rit. I can’t be arsed to read it now!

I wouldn’t mind if she just were giving out TV show recommendations or asking “have you watched X show? What did you think?”. I think that’s quite a normal social media topic at the moment as we’re all at home.

What I take issue with is her need for every single thing she does, including watching a TV show or reading a book, to be an obsession and an event; utterly “transformative”, an opportunity to hold court, a way to show her followers just how intelligent and knowledgeable she is.

Everything has to be imbued with deep meaning to show social media exactly who LJW is and why she’s a legend (in her own mind, of course). Doesn’t she ever get exhausted by it? Doesn’t she ever just want to say “this TV show was so moving, I recommend it” like a normal person??

It all reminds me of her waxing lyrical about her incredible tastemaking culinary skills in Becoming, when she’s only making a bloody omelette 😂 I think they call it “delusions of grandeur”, Laura??!

I remember not long ago she was watching Strictly, except it wasn't just Strictly, it was a multi-story ode to Shirley Ballas, an older woman who was dressed in a glamorous way and knew a lot about her field and wasn't ashamed to put forth that knowledge.

Reader, it was just Strictly. It's not that deep.
