^^LOL!! I wonder if more of her subs suspect this.

"Buongiorno(whispery voice), uh it's 4am here and i'm awake to finish the video I promised you before we drive down to the farm... " Of course she has to film herself to show everyone she's up and working for them. 🙄
I would be interested to know what her attrition rate of subscribers and patreon's are, as discussed so many comments are deleted and she doesn't have that many followers after 4-5 years of YouTube, makes me think that a few people feel the same. If she received more publicity, it wouldn't surprise me that she would experience quite a bit of backlash over her problematic views on women, how she acts so hard done by and all the other issues discussed on this thread. It seems her core audience are teenagers and older (mostly) Americans who dream of the dolce vita.

Hello again, I've read with interest the recent conversation and everyone's combined research has given a more complete and fascinating picture of Kylie's Dolce Vita. As a former patreon, my contribution was around £80 per month, I decided to opt-out for the following reasons. 1. I'd often find that K. would like and comment on everyone's comments/reactions to her apart from mine or a few others on Insta/YouTube. I was always polite - and maybe this is a reflection of my own sensitivity - but I felt slightly hurt at being ignored, especially when I was the only one not to receive a like or response (how sad am I?). 2. I started to find the films tedious when they were concerned every week with this renovation, her relationship with G &c. I guess marriage and babies is on the cards next and it just doesn't interest me. Although I never donated to her I found Madeleine Shaw became boring to me once she had a baby and it became all about that. 3. In view of the magnificent estate she is living on, I started to feel that I needed my money more than K. did or I could find a more deserving cause for my money. 4. Like others, I also feel she is painting a very misleading and idealized picture of life in Italy.

@csuuun Yes, I've noticed her main "fans" seem to be middle age to older Americans. Several mother and daughter combos, all thinking Under the Tuscan Sun is reality and watch Kylie with their coffee or vino. I know "buying and renovating a €1 home in Italy" is a trend lately, but as a post earlier pointed out....all of it is Guido's family's, nothing of it is hers. She's just there choosing the design and documenting. Most of us would have fun doing that--- with others handling the red tape and heavier work.

If she's that touchy about critique, she should be wary of more growth. Yep, she definitely won't be able to keep up moderating comments.

I looked up her Social blade stats and while she has had big growth during the past pandemic year, and her sub to view count is ok, she's not earning much compared to active channels who monetise and....collab. Patrons must be the main source.

Welcome! @AnnaKarenina. I would feel slighted as well. £80 a month is a nice bit of money in her pocket. I have never been a YT patron, is this an average sum?

Me too! Hence why I said I would support a friend if that was their work and they were serious about it. I thought €5/10. So I change my answer if that is more of a typical monthly offering.😅

yeah I think she needs to be aware that if her subs grow a lot she will be under a lot more scrutiny, which wouldn't be a positive thing for her

I don't know if my contribution is typical. I think some people donate a lot more. £180 and £800 and something are the two higher categories. My rationale for doing this at first was that I thought (and we all agree) her filmmaking is very accomplished and she appears to work hard. I also had a strong desire to pay it forward for everyone who has helped me progress in my career in various ways and I felt it would help an individual more if I did this as opposed to donating to an organised charity. I would not feel slighted if she didn't respond to a high proportion of the people who posted but her not responding to me when there are only a few that she doesn't respond to feels a bit personal. It probably isn't and I need to be less sensitive. I am not American and tbh I think 'Under the Tuscan Sun' is an annoying movie on many levels. I wouldn't say so on her thread as it might insult the many people who seem to love it.

what kind of things did you comment? anything critical?
I have said it before but I don't get why she doesn't monetise her videos she easily could surely

Emm - no nothing critical. Just a polite response reacting to some aspect of her filmmaking that I appreciated and enjoyed, that's all.

Denise0211 - I believe her stats rose during the pandemic because people were/are unable to travel. I found myself watching far more travel-related content at this time. Her stats also rose exponentially when she wrote personal letters to her patreons. I suspect many people may have donated small amounts so as to receive a handwritten note from Kylie. It was a very sweet if crazy, gesture IMHO. I also wondered whether, if G is an accountant, it was a way of avoiding paying some tax, which presumably she has to pay to the Italian government from the Patreon contributions for her work.

yeah that letter thing seemed crazy and very ill thought out in terms of cost, I don't get why she wouldn't have thought hiw expensive it would have been.
I am not sure how tax arrangements work for youtubers, she might not even be registered as paying tax there

Btw, I am curious. Sometime last year, K disenabled all the comments on an episode she made on making a pizza. It was introduced by her dancing for rather a long time, in some rather eccentric shorts and top she had made out of some fabric. It was rather cringey to be sure. I didn't get to see the comments but I know she was deeply hurt by all the haters she attracted from this particular episode. Did anyone get to read the comments before she disenabled them? I would be very intrigued to know what people said. It must have been quite awful to motivate her to delete the whole lot! I suspect it was the opening bit that attracted the comments. Mind you, I would be jealous if I could eat lots of yummy pizza and have a body like that. 🤣

Jan'20 is the last recording of her Patreon income before she made it private which was $2760 per month with an average of $22-$23 per Patreon (which seems in line with the prior 11 months where income recorded), at this time she only 117 Patreon's. She now has 723 Patreon's so if you presume the average per Patreon is constant (which is a bit of a crude assumption as she is reaching much more people with supposidly different level of disposable incomes) then she could be making circa. $16k a month. This is why I can't stand her constant whining about money.

I am sure (but don't quote me) that somewhere in the past she said that she doesn't want to monetise her videos because they help suicidal teenagers and people suffering from mental health issues. Which I guess is a presumptive but noble point although I think it would be more useful to urge those suffering to obtain professional help instead. I'm also convinced it's because she can reach a wider audience and potentially make more money through a voluntary donation.

I don't really understand how not putting ads helps people with mental health issues tbh, if anything her constant begging for money must be stressful for those who would like to donate but don't have the means to

Bwahahaha! That pizza video!😂 No @AnnaKarenina I must have missed it originally, but I am so curious about the comments now! That must be close to when she mentioned in another video that "people are so cruel and rude" or whatever.

That intro is so cringey! And so vain. There is no reason we need to see her awful interpretation of retro film stars dancing and shimmying for a video about pizza! She looked so unnatural dancing, too. I've seen her do better lol.

It doesn't make sense. On one hand monetising a video about a tragedy or apology video is considered poor taste. But her videos aren't about difficult topics...only one or two are about depression.

interestingly I just went to look at that video as I haven't seen it, and there was an ad that I couldn't skip beforehand!

the shots of her bum especially, she is very attractive but it is so cringe that she makes these of herself

Yes @Appleblossom she does seem to be in well with his family. I was thinking about that the other day, and to me it is her leech personality. She mentioned what a great artist Guido's mother is. What has Kylie been doing lately? Artsy crafts, design, etc. Guido's dad and family have managed land for years and years. There's ol' farmhand Kylie looking to "help" collect olives, dig in with shovels, haul dirt etc lol. I really do think she is a manipulative chameleon able to play various roles.

ETA: I found Brian on IG. He's brizarussell on there. I thought his partner was Italian but looks like he's also Australian and the just bought a house. And oooh yes, some photos do look like he is an airline flight attendant!
Good point Denise.
A bit like Julia Roberts character in Pretty Woman, she'll be whoever they want her to be or whoever will further her agenda.

A question, did see have a romantic relationship with Patrick, the guy she did the TV show with and owner of Hello Fresh?

Fair play to Brian, I hope he is happy! I mean that because I did like him.

Yes, I thought Brian seemed authentic. The films with Brian were very happy and fun.

^^I don't find it weird for friends supporting friends. It makes sense. I posted upthread that ,TBH, the videos with Brian are pretty much the only ones I enjoy of hers. 😂 He's got quite the personality.

Funnily enough her Rome vs Florence/moving video popped up in my feed. In it she mentions deferring her Uni degree in Aus bc she was studying Spanish in Spain, but then got to talking to some random guy (always a male) in the airport about how great Italy was or some such, and she decided on the spot to quit her Spanish language studies and pack up for Italy. Her impulsivity is starting to make me wonder about her....
If he lost his job and he is still her patron, I find that odd.
Not on his behalf, he seems like a really nice guy but the fact that she stills takes his donation, considering he lost his job.
