I think Kylie is pregnant as well. It's so odd to share engagement news in April and then specify 'oh this happened 4 months ago' for someone who is so enchanted and excited by romance and life partners etc. I in NO way am trying to body shame here - I just noticed when I saw this part of the video I couldn't help but think she just looks different. She was also all hunched over in the shots of the terrace house...hiding a stomach? Who knows, maybe I'm overanalyzing.

If this is the case though, how deceitful. Her preaching about taking things slow and having multi-year relationships where she said no to proposals, reply to a comment about babies saying 'Not before marriage ;);)' , only to go and get pregnant out of wedlock. WHICH, is fine - have kids whenever you'd like. Live your life. But be honest - don't manipulate your viewers into believing a strict set of morals you didn't even abide by.

I think it's more about what Kylie says (preaches, more like) and what she does. In "How we Met" video, and a few other times, she says she never drinks or have one night stands. The drinking has been disproven, but the whole German nightclub project was built around a one night stand concept. Even if it was just a story, it doesn't mesh with her judgey mcjudgerson attitude towards such things.

Also, I personally hate cliche dressing. Like when I see tourists around in their huge sun hats and lemon print or everything , it's just so cringe. I also don't know any Florentine women going around in rouje vintage style dresses, and jodphurs are left for the actual riding. Her outfits going to the post office and to Guido's office (skirt, boots, wool coat) were more within the norm. Anyone notice the wife in Kylie's lunch video? Rich AF and from a noble line...in jeans and a tee.

Of course she can wear whatever she wants, but it all seems such a put on for the cameras and yeah, clichè. If she had met a Milanese businessman, I think she'd be wearing all black, fur coats and more logo influencer style looks "because that's how people in Milan dress." (I forgot about her tacky Gucci blinged out rich kid street style she picked up while in Rome). If she had met a Venetian artist she'd be in various gondoliere style striped tees with blown glass jewelry. A stereotypical view for her fans who most definitely hold sterotypical ideas about Italy and Italians.

yeh I totally agree, it wasalso strange for me that she has seemingly never mentioned any restrictions etc (as far as I hVe seen anyway). watching someone like nicki pestano who manages to mention what they can and can't do etc without being negative is very refreshing.
As Italians the pandemic has had a massive and disastrous and very personal impact on all of our lives, it has touched every part part of it. Some of my friends lived in a town in Tuscany that was one of the worst hit and there were so many dead there were coffins they were stacked up in church halls and schools. Everyone I know has a tragic story of family or friends who became terribly ill or passed away.

As soon as Covid hit, Kylie had the luxury to scarper from her flat in Florence to escape the restrictions and shack up with Guido in the luxurious confines of the family villa.

It seems very weird that her entire video output for 2020/21 addresses nothing about the pandemic that is affecting the lives of all of the people around her...Her malarkey about providing escapism and ”slow living” is a real abrogation of responsibility. She is as much a real ‘journalist’ as she is poet/artist/director/producer etc etc😬

I have noticed that she mentions the amount of people in pain messaging her a lot too, I guess we will never really know how many people she has helped.
I remember that one of the turning points for me was when I saw a comment on her 2020 year of joy in Italy video (or something like that), an Italian politely pointed out that this was a year in her life only, as Italy had suffered terribly with the Coronavirus outbreak. I remember K aggressively replied and called the commenter ignorant and rude and that they had no idea how many people she has helped. I don't know if it's been deleted or not, but after knowing how devastating this year has been for many Italians, the response and the tone just didn't sit right with me at all.

nb: I tried to find the comment but can't see it, so it's either been deleted or my memory has failed me 😅

..Actually after lots of scrolling I can see it's still there under the name Mimmi
She is playing a very dangerous game playing the role of Saviour. @Denise0211 mentioned this as well.
YouTube videos have given us joy and escapism over this last year. I have found a new hobby and have expanded my vegetable garden but Kylie portraying herself as some Saviour of the mentally ill is dangerous for her. She is sending handwritten notes, sprayed with perfume, including hand drawings, photos and bottles of olive oil. That is over stepping the mark from influencer to friend.
Back on page 3 or 4 of here we were curious about Guido and the quick and short engagement. With the minimal of info and minimal searching we found his business address and the location of both his estates and the fact he took a Countess to Le Bal in 2003.
Imagine someone with a mental illness who sees her as their Saviour and friend. They would have all this information as quick as we did. We were curious but they could be dangerous.

Oh my goodness, I would NOT ever want Nicki and Kylie's worlds to collide. Kylie's toxic energy is not something Nicki and Carlo ever deserve. Before finding this forum I had not heard of Nicki and have really enjoyed watching her Positano Diaries, so thank you!! She's so authentic and lovely vibe, and we share similar interests such as pets, cooking, hiking and gardening so I have lots of reasons to love it. I've also been an expat a couple of times and am moving back to the UK (Pembrokeshire, Wales to be specific) again after 10 years being back in Seattle, and I know it is no fairytale. It's a tough transition even when you speak the language and are passionate about the culture and the landscape.

Hello all! I'm new (my real name is Aelfwynn) and I have finally been accepted on here. It's been so hard following this thread for a couple of weeks and not be able to participate. I started watching Kylie's videos about a year ago because YT kept insisting I would like it...and I kind of did, but mainly because I love Italy and needed some escapism. I love the cinematography of her videos but she quickly became incredibly annoying to me, but at the same time endearing. I felt sorry for her, trying so incredibly hard to be sexy and desirable and living in a deluded fantasy world. I unfollowed and re-followed her several times and had an internal battle asking myself, "is it just me that finds the narcissistic camera shots objectionable?"

I did make a comment on one of her backpacking through the mountains videos from a few years ago about the lip-biting and all the come-hither sexy looks into the camera...on a freaking solo backpacking adventure!!! I commented that it felt like I was intruding on her love affair with herself and how toning that down might turn fewer people off. She didn't respond or remove the comment, and one of her fans commented back that they didn't understand what I was talking about. So, I thought I must be crazy...until the Disney nightmare video and I seriously couldn't help myself from commenting. It's still there, not removed, but oh my, her fans have become much more rabid and aggressive. I'll take a screen shot and post here later. It's under my handle Welsh Dragon if one of you finds it first.

A while back I also commented on one of her videos about her age and timeline not adding up, and she responded directly to it, saying "don't believe what you read online regarding my age" but then didn't actually provide clarity. It still doesn't make sense at ALL for her to be 29. 38 is much more reasonable, but she actually looks my age to me (44). Someone on here said it so well several pages back about how the midriff only hip-shaking/thrusting slow-motion shots and sexy lip-biting looks into the camera are dangerous in so many ways for society in sexualizing women publicly. It's her prerogative to create whatever content she likes, and it's our prerogative to criticize it.
Welcome Aelfwynn! Great moniker @Come-hither-lip-biter 😅 We have a lot of fun on this forum!

I agrée with you that it is Kylie’s narcissism that people can’t stand. It makes us all remember thé narcissists around us who have fooled most into believing they are good people meanwhile they are wreaking havoc behind thé boasts and thé perfect persona, relationship, life and so on.

There is no doubt that thé latest showing off about thé perfect romance with Guido is not entirely what it seems although he himself seems quite straightforward - if not thé paragon of self-aware, well-adjusted Italian manhood that she paints.

She broke up his long-term relationship with his girlfriend in Firenze to be with him. But I guess this will be brushed over. So that must have caused the ex a lot of heartbreak.

Kylie has boasted many times about the number of men that have proposed to her🙄But she would never have become engaged to Guido if he was an ordinary accountant living with his family in a 50 square metre flat in Rome or Florence. It is all the property and wealth that has turned her head.

I see Guido is now getting in on the grifting. He has Kylie acting as his real estate agent, renting his chicken coop for romantic stays and enticing would be restaurateurs to rent his kitchen/event space for €2000/month in an out of the way location, during a pandemic when travel is restricted and restaurants closed. One of her fawning followers, ready to take up the offer, wrote to ask if any experience is needed !

Now we have the wedding show to fill production time and to appeal to all those interested in dresses, planning, dinner preparation, flowers, etc. The only problem is, Kylie admitted that they cannot legally marry, due to missing documents, but the show must go on !

While I don’t see any rapport between them and all they talk about is business(until recently) with both of them taking turns talking over and ignoring the other(I particularly like when Kylie is waiting to talk, Guido rambles on and she repeatedly blinks her eyes in frustration, as if to say This is MY video!), her followers obviously do !

It’s entertaining for sure, but not in the way she intended; I just wonder how many followers are taking her advice and are making plans to live the dream in Italy, where, with the fantasy she presents for preparation, they will find a nightmare.

This is where I have a problem with her and how she trades misinformation into likes and transacts her self absorbed narcissism into a false reality for unsuspecting followers. She should know better and I’m sure she does.

It’s a show.

Wow the weirdly aggressive tone of Kylie's reply to that message is jarring. It's kind of patronising? "Now you Italians listen as I, a tourist, tell you about how you are actually feeling and how your country is doing"..

And hi! I found Kylie under a year ago. I found her videos to be beautiful and there's so much good in them, but like you guys, I also found her flirty demeanor and weird accent. After watching her a while her constant "a hmmm"s started to really annoy me. She kind of sounds like she's constantly lost for words and explaining something to a five year old at the same time. I felt that maybe I was alone in my thoughts because there wasn't any discussion about her anywhere, but I'm glad I found this thread (after she mentioned it in her comments). It's usually a red flag if I can't find anything remotely negative about an influencer.
Yes good point @Beeoneohone it is also so patronising - an expat lecturing an Italian native on Italian culture essentially.. I think it's a bit embarrassing really.

Hi everyone, so glad to see this forum. Kylie has crossed paths with my group of friends and colleagues in Rome too. What I object to is not only that she is completely false, her real personality is completely different to the one she portrays on Youtube and social media, but the picture she paints of Italy too.

I am an Italian and the Rome and Southern Italy she portrayed (and now Tuscany) is just totally fake. We are suffering incredibly from the effects of Covid 19 and our country never recovered from economic recession. Rome is an incredibly difficult place to live with an enormous problem with corruption and it is extremely hard for Italians to find good jobs (that are actually paid) let alone foreigners.

When other Italians comment that her posts about Italy are just lies, Kylie says they are bitter and jealous of her. But she is creating a totally wrong impression of Italy that makes it seems that her followers can just leave their homes and jobs and find a fantastic life in Italy. It is a dangerous picture because many foreigners come here expecting to find this fake "dream" of Italy and end up losing their savings and a lot more trying to survive here and then have to leave and go back to their own country in a few months.
This is something I respect Nicki Positano for. She talks about the good and the bad but obviously the good outweighs the bad for her as she lives her life in Positano.
I remember her and Carlo did a Q&A about people moving to Italy and Positano in particular.
They talked about the negatives and the pitfalls.
Carlo spoke about how you need a permit to work but you can't get a work permit unless you live there. It's a circle of bureaucracy.
He said the best way is to have a 'mate' in Italy.
My 22 year old daughter said, thats Italian Tinder for me, I need a mate in Positano. I said so do I but don't tell daddy. 😂

My cousin lives in NYC and is married to a man from Lombardy. His family was badly hit, he lost a beloved uncle and his brother, some cousins and a niece were all in ICU and will never be well or work again.
I skyped them last May to offer my sympathy and was flabbergasted when he said (with the Italian shrug) they weren't the worst effected family and they were rallying around everyone else! He just wished he could get home.
This resilience, bravery and utter kindness is what Kylie should be making videos about.
I was in complete awe because us Brits were moaning about bloody masks, loss of freedom etc.

I think having allowed himself to be in that embarrassing disney video I wouldn't rule out anything tbh
I am really trying to block that video from my memory. 😂😂

Rolling around in bed with her Canon @emm 🤷🏻‍♂️ !!! What a pointless video hearing her talk to some random guy we don’t see and don’t know who he is. Meanwhile we have to watch her prancing around trying out her smizing and come-hither looks🙈
C R I N G E
I can’t even watch the whole thing through to clarify some questions, it’s so painful to watch ! So self conscious and self absorbed; and she talks about being aware of the local culture, but how can she when it’s all about her ? And the guy seems equally cringeworthy.

Does he even know that their telephone conversation is being recorded and then used as a backdrop for another of Kylie’s travel fantasies ? I get the impression that he’s an unwitting prop in another of her plays.

I think she’s desperate for scripts and her recent play about renovating a chicken coop is likely going nowhere; my guess is that, typically, the contractors are not showing up and there is nothing to shoot. Hence, the wedding play about to begin, although that has also stalled of late. Even Guido asks how many questions do you have ?

With a slew of patrons to satisfy, I’m intrigued where this is going next, as she scrambles to keep her viewership (and income stream) moving along in her direction.

Antonio, I'm going off-topic here but I love the shots of Rome in La Grande Bellezza!
One of my favourite films @PlinyinTorquay! Really captured the social life in the palazzi of Rome. Very evocative scenes in the city. Loved it!

This is interesting. I wonder why she refuses recorded interviews? Here she confirms having a Greek passport after many years of visas. The first half is full of her self congratulation and evident perception of real world every day work situations as being terrible to her. How dare anyone critique her work! Lol. Very few people understand her, you know.

@Denise0211 She doesn’t do recorded interviews because she can’t control how she comes across and use that filter she puts on all of her videos that makes her look weird but gets rid of wrinkles etc

“I have a degree in journalism and I had worked as an award-winning magazine editor and publisher before moving to Italy and yet I couldn’t make a living pitching to publications around the world with content on Italy...” This is just not true - Kylie has won no awards for her work as a journalist or filmmaker...Nor do a lot people believe she even did a degree in journalism. As George Costanza said: “It’s not a lie if you believe it.”

ah SÌ??? Ah SÌ??

Absolutely, this. The first video I saw, the tripping over rubble, the lip biting and hair flipping, shout-talking in this way.. I immediately thought of Apollonia screeching the days of the week in The Godfather before the car blows up. 😂

Her filmmaking is so gorgeous and her content (renovations, cooking, insights into Italian language) is so beautiful that I really wonder what's wrong with her, that she would put on all these pretentious affectations. Her accent in English is purely ridiculous. And I know I'm repeating myself, but good GOD I cannot stand all this lip-biting and smizing. It's painful! Why on earth does she do it??
I don't get it either, the baby voice is the worst, it's cringe anyway but especially when a 30 plus year old woman does it. I'm glad I found this thread because every time I watch her videos and read her comments, I think to myself surely I am not the only one who thinks she is becoming more and more ridiculous, but then I guess that's why she doesn't have more followers. You wold never see anything remotely critical in the comments anyway as they are just deleted.

so I am now watching the rest of the video...really confused about the timeline of their relationship, I think saying you love someone before a first kiss is odd tbh, and saying it when you don't know the feelings of the other person seems almost manipulative in a weird way, she probably does love him but it really comes across as love bombing which is so unhealthy. I liked Guido before this but tbh him saying he felt like this when he was still in a relationship is not a positive for me at all. Obviously we have no idea about his ex but I do feel bad for her, imagine seeing this?

omg and even he refers to her as prey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! how does she find this romantic?!
I agree with this 100%
It doesn't ring true. The respect I had for Guido is also diminishing.
It reminds me a bit of Harry and Meghans engagement interview, when I sat looking at the TV confused and hubby said "I have never heard a bigger load of balls!"

Yeah, I think so too. No disrespect to all the mothers out there (as I mentioned before, I am trying to become one myself), but I find those vlogs really boring to watch and I don’t like it when people put their children into the spotlight for more views/ likes.
totally agree, I am not a mum but I really worry about all of the children in these channels basically growing up online without their consent, my only hope is that some kind of legislation is introduced, in the same way there is for child actors

Omg I had forgotten all about "When Patrick Met Kylie." And I agree he looks a lot like Guido. But now that you mention, yes, she and P did hook up online. She also met some American guy online (there's a video somewhere, she was still in Rome and they met up in Firenze. The video IIRC, was full of soundbites of him praising her and flirting, and him saying he hoped she would stop him from leaving or something. God she really is so full of herself! Lol) and....she met Guido online, too.

I wonder does she really not socialize unless it is with a man who sends her a saucy message online?

I liked her better when she did Q&A's with her gay friend, Brian. But there again, still another guy. And in those videos she only ever interviewed men on the streets. Hmmmmmm.

Her Italian is very good but at the same time I hate when she speaks it. She puts on an entirely different personality and uses this shouty voice. And all of the "ah SÌ??? Ah SÌ?? drive me mad. Either do the videos all in Italian or Eng and put subs like everyone else, or quit wasting time drawing the video out saying the same sentence twice.
One of my friends in Rome was trying to help Kylie find a chef for the pilot of a cooking show she was trying to get off the ground - that’s how she met Patrick who’d left his job as a lawyer in London to cook and ultimately set up Hello Fresh. She saw a video of him and decided he was the one. They ended up having a relationship but it didn’t seem to last long beyond the series...Both of them are very vain and pretentious and wanted the spotlight. Kylie is only a one woman band as her narcissism means she wants all the attention on her all the time. She is only sharing the camera with Guido as she hopes he will enhance her “brand” and help ultimately monetise it...She is trying to turn herself into a third rate Frances Mayes🙄
