Of course! Don't forget all of the MANY Michelin starred restos she's been to. 😂 You know, where they supposedly clap and sing Happy birthday lol.
And her cat named after that famous Italian ingredient miso 😅

And how many of the words in the goo he wrote she cannot pronounce🤣
Well so far she’s said “lol” out loud, used the term “entered the chat”, called non-celebrities “Muggles” and said that her and Dario “clocked eyes” when they met.

Her reading is not well paced and she keeps bringing up how many followers she has, lol.

She starts chapter three saying “nana” (nonna) and then dropping the Turkish and Croatian words for family for no reason.

“Like ‘aile’ in Türkiye or ‘obitelj’ in Croatia, Italian hold the concept of ‘La famiglia’ high on a pedestal.” (Sorry, I mean PEDESTOOL)

Girl what?? What are you talking about.
---
The name of that chapter, “Nonna is always available” is from an anecdote from Danae Mercer’s baby shower where Kacie supposedly gave Danae some jokey “coupons” offering to babysit in case “nonna isn’t available” (Danae’s MIL) and the MIL’s response was that. And we all know that nonna is still always available because Danae has the nanny

The haters chapter is mostly about how people (“keyboard warriors”) have commented about her thin lips and hair, and how she should speak Italian better by now and how her culture shock series could have been avoided by googling things.

She asserts that her not knowing that Italian pharmacies don’t sell birthday cards could not have been fixed by a Google search, because how could she have known she needed to Google that?

“The day they came after Dario is the same day I stopped tagging his profile and scaled back his appearance in my content”

Wonder what was written about him.

A big part of the chapter is about anti-American sentiment on social media.

She had a bad experience at an influencer networking conference with a woman scoffing at her for not knowing a suburb in the UK and it made her cry and almost want to quit. She makes it especially pitiable too because she wasn’t like the other girls there in their Gucci clothes.

Being criticized made her self aware and change the way she acts. She starts second guessing her content because she doesn’t want “dumb American” comments.

Her ultimate message is that all haters are 1000% jealous because they want something you have that they lack.

How dumb is she to hear Dario bestemmiare after cutting his finger and think it’s a beautiful phrase and not a swear word so she repeats it… that sounds like a made up anecdote
---
She also says that “in bocca al lupo” means good luck because of the wolf cubs being carried by a mother wolf in her mouth. If I’m not mistaken that is something created by animal rights activists??

Yeah, as far as I know from my Italian family, it's from hunting days and it's like a reverse jinx. You tell them what you wish won't happen. Also the response is Crepi il lupo, may the wolf die. Hardly what you'd respond if the mama wolf story was the originating story.

The people who don’t like “in bocca al lupo” meaning hunting wolves and instead choose to believe this thing about wolf cubs, say “evviva il lupo” instead of crepi.

But Kacie talks about this being the origin being about mother wolves and then goes on to say that the response to it is “crepi” OR “evviva”. She explains that the responses mean either “may the wolf die” or “may the wolf live” but these don’t really make sense in the context of the origin she purports.

more than halfway through the book and she has read “lol” like five times

Re: Dario, IIRC it was the same thing people wrote under the CNN article. That he was probably married at the time of them meeting and how as an Italian he'd obviously cheat on her.

Why did her MGT keep the "Lol?" 🤦🏼

Wait what? That's kinda racist.

Stereotyping maybe. But yeah, really stupid and ignorant comments about "all" his women, bla bla bla🤌🏼🍕🍝🪗 At least I'm assuming that was her reason since I don't remember seeing comments about his looks or anything.

Wait. @emm Did you not go to her London book signing?! 😂

@moronglace Did she ever mention what visa Dario had for a year in the US?
So I was always under the impression that he had some special visa that wasn’t for work or study, and when I once reached out to see what it could possibly be, of course she didn’t respond. She says in the book that it was a work visa sponsored by an Italian restaurant in Brooklyn called Camillo which is run by Italian immigrants. Apparently they decided to move to Italy in January 2021 because Covid affected visa renewals (postponed) and they didn’t want to do long distance.

Sadly I was at work 🤣🤣🤣🤣 my Italy obsessed mum gave me a random present the other day from a book shop, I was suddenly dreading it would be her book (it was not luckily 🤣) I'm interested to see what else she gets up to in London, I'm betting on that stupid strawberry stand in Borough Market

Is it that easy? I thought us visas were so difficult for service jobs, unless he was working illegally?
I think the criticism he got (from a cringe video they made) was that he was marrying her for a green card? Which tbh nowadays seems crazy from europe, the US is not really the promised land it was before (imo anyway)

Yes, that too! Re: the green card. Lol. I'm American and I cringe when people still assume this. Hopefully things will improve in the next years.

I sort of wish you were gifted her book. A photo of your reaction would have been priceless. 🤣
