Im sick today and I ended up falling asleep listening to the end of the book. I have to say that the way the book was edited makes little sense to me. She goes back and forth with anecdotes from before her time in Italy, to her childhood, etc. Maybe it’s just me but it felt pretty rambling and repetitive. Lots of “do the things that scare you” and she comes across as very insecure about being perceived as stupid.
Her writing is very amateur, and when she was reading aloud at times it felt like she didn’t know where the sentence was going so her narration was choppy. There were too many cringy references, trying to use Gen Z slang and she was just trying way too hard to sound quirky. It didn’t seem to me that she had much hardship to draw from so her examples of culture shock or struggle living abroad was like grasping at straws.

Also, not really sure where the whole gelato stuff comes in. She starts the book saying she had really bad gelato one time in Venice when she first went to Italy. Maybe I need to go back and listen to the last chapter that I dozed off to.

She again fails to understand an Italian phrase, saying that “Il troppo stroppia” literally means “too crippled”. Eh?!

I mean... ~looks around, waves hand toward this example~ 😂

It's a good thing Dario's English is good but not really great. Little basic convos. I have no idea what they talk about aside from The Office and where to eat next. And to be blunt, Kacie is one of the biggest ignoramuses I've come across. I guess he must find it cute?

Feel better soon @moronglace

Kacie "the foodie" acting like steak tartare is unheard of in the US. Rube. I've had it multiple times in NYC...you know, where she lived. 🙄 But I guess she was used to fried pickles and chicken tenders before Dario. Now she's magically a pro at fine dining.

In case you were doubting her foodie lifestyle:

“Burghal” salad!

(She meant BULGUR)

Is it too mean I'm kind of hoping someone plants drugs in their luggage or they drink in public and are arrested?

@moronglace Kacie's met up with Bailey? If you get any deets do share. 😅

Torino is my favorite city in Italy; Kacie stinking it up with her wooooooows and general stupidity makes me irrationally angry lol.

No deets, sorry. All I can say is I’d rather Bailey hang out with Kacie than any other expat influencer in Italy - Kacie is the least problematic by far lol.

I wouldn't go that far. 😅 At least Girl in Florence, Heart Rome and Katie Parla offer worthwhile info without pandering to The Dumb.

That’s true!

Who would you say is worse?
People who wouldn’t even bother to give her the time of day, but I’d say Sofie, Lauren Quacquarelli and Kylie.
So I guess that wouldn’t even happen lol

Yeah. Plus I couldn't see Bailey and Lauren having anything in common, like at all. Lol. It got me thinking, and I'd add those "are they really expats or just rich women on extended vacation?" types like Shayna and ...Danae. lol

Kacie guest lectured for a communications class at the Florence campus of Florida State and she said her most popular videos are about grocery stores in Italy because they are “stressful as eff”.

I think if I heard that in a lecture my IQ would actually drop.

Her usual content must be edited AF bc she looked....a little different than usual. I wonder what other gems she shared.

I only have very mean things to say. Besides the fact she mispronounced it after being in Italy how long? She saw it and uploaded anyway...no correction text. Obviously didn't even notice until a follower asked.

Wtf?? Is she really that dumb or is she just engagement baiting by saying it wrong. Think of all the tours she’s done and all the food related words (if that’s the only kind of Italian vocab she’s exposed to) that she has encountered while on these tours TEACHING people these words… she should know. She took in person language classes? Even if she went for like, a month, they should have taught her pronunciation basics.

babbel and Italian with Davide, pull your sponsorships now! 😆

I think she's that dumb, but I'm heavily biased. Lol. She used the same "I was tired" excuse like with "ca-veet." 🤣

But if it was for engagement ,it was a fail. I ran to the comments and there's are only like 35. Lol. Maybe more Italians will comment this weekend. 😅
