And how many of the words in the goo he wrote she cannot pronounce🤣
Well so far she’s said “lol” out loud, used the term “entered the chat”, called non-celebrities “Muggles” and said that her and Dario “clocked eyes” when they met.

Her reading is not well paced and she keeps bringing up how many followers she has, lol.

I can’t believe Dario is in hospital and she’s about to leave for a book tour 🙃 Also why would he be in a hospital in Bologna?
I'm guessing he was motorbiking around and he wiped out near there. I just noticed the hospital view after you mentioned!

Living in Florence for love but still discovering the ropes, huh? Naming her cat Miso thinking it's Italian, advertising language apps but struggling with Italian... Classic American abroad vibes.

I feel like the proposal didn't sound that romantic?? She didn't feel 100% and wasn't in the mood to go out but he still dragged her out.

They live in Italy, surely he could've just held off for a few weeks and took a road trip and proposed then - that makes me think there was a 'planned' element for it to happen now.

Lots of “do the things that scare you” and she comes across as very insecure about being perceived as stupid.

She again fails to understand an Italian phrase, saying that “Il troppo stroppia” literally means “too crippled”.

I mean... ~looks around, waves hand toward this example~ 😂

It's a good thing Dario's English is good but not really great. Little basic convos. I have no idea what they talk about aside from The Office and where to eat next. And to be blunt, Kacie is one of the biggest ignoramuses I've come across. I guess he must find it cute?

Feel better soon @moronglace

Wtf?? Is she really that dumb or is she just engagement baiting by saying it wrong. Think of all the tours she’s done and all the food related words (if that’s the only kind of Italian vocab she’s exposed to) that she has encountered while on these tours TEACHING people these words… she should know. She took in person language classes? Even if she went for like, a month, they should have taught her pronunciation basics.

babbel and Italian with Davide, pull your sponsorships now! 😆

She also says that “in bocca al lupo” means good luck because of the wolf cubs being carried by a mother wolf in her mouth. If I’m not mistaken that is something created by animal rights activists??
Yeah, as far as I know from my Italian family, it's from hunting days and it's like a reverse jinx. You tell them what you wish won't happen. Also the response is Crepi il lupo, may the wolf die. Hardly what you'd respond if the mama wolf story was the originating story.

Wait. Sorry I swear I’ve said this before but… How absolutely sheltered can one be living in NYC and not knowing that miso is Japanese?? Had she never been to a single sushi restaurant before?

Actually… considering her very “safe food” eating habits, I guess I’m not surprised. But surely she must have HEARD of miso. It’s not like you have to eat foreign foods to actually be exposed to them, especially in the U.S. it’s not like the cat is named after a more obscure Japanese food like natto or dango.

Omg she looks SO different here compared to her SM posts?? Did they just do her hair and makeup terribly (yes) or does she really look like this in person and use filters (probably)
---
Seriously I’m like floored. I feel like I’ve never seen her before.

Do people really believe she and her mom had a bad Airbnb, and ...wow! She happened to then stay in her friend's b&b that she promoted and linked? 🙄

Shes really trying to play up the dumb American stereotype 🤦‍♀️
But is she playing? 🤣 I honestly feel she's that hokey and uneducated. Though, yeah, I do feel she embraces it bc she knows most of her subs are just the same. Instead of assimilating to her new home and improving her knowledge, she just stays her same stunted self to be relatable I guess.

It's amazing to me she lived in NYC for years and is still so derpy.

Yeh I'd say she's just stopped even trying to hide how ignorant she is
The way she looked at 'albeit' didn't seem like she didn't know how to pronounce it, it was like she'd never seen the word before. No way in hell she wrote this book alone

Let me off, world. Kacie is going to indeed be a guest on the Kelly Clarkson show. 🙄 I knew this would happen, especially with her timing being in NYC.

@moronglace can you take one for the team and watch? 😂

By popular demand (and to stop cluttering up Sofie's World's thread) Kacie has her own!
Typical American living in Italy (more specifically Florence) who moved there for love, but possibly the most ignorant about culture I have seen.
Where to start? Her (chef) boyfriend chose to name one of their (beautiful) cats Miso and she thought it was some kind of Italian food...Endlessly advertising language learning apps but has a VERY low level of (awfully pronounced) Italian, currently in London and had no idea everywhere didn't call their underground transport systems The Subway.
Despite all this, for myself anyway, just seemed like the typical clueless and naive American abroad, but in a non offensive, not harming anyone, way. That is until relatively when (gourmand and food conosseur that she is) she was disappointed by a Michelin dining experience and encouraged her Stans to go over and criticise the restaurant. I don't have time to go into her ridiculous complaint but her boyfriend doesn't seem to back her up abotu it and the restaurant themselves seem to find it funny, so her stans tagging the Michelin Giude in their complaints doesn't seem to have had any effect :ROFLMAO:
What have I missed?
Enjoy!
