I'd say I'm confident in my body and my relationships and I've never ever felt the need to say or do the things she does. She's 100% overcompensating for either lost time, lack of attention or both. Compare her to her peers, Marianna and Jade joselyn for example. Both women's businesses are based on their bodies but neither of them seem as disordered and obsessed as Jasmine is. I'm no expert but I don't think Jasmine ever recovered from her disorder. She used to be hyper fixated on "nourishing food" and staying skinny now she's shifted this hyperfixation to her sexual organs.
there is this thing in American where Trump supporters often have Asian wives. They fetishize them while hating on their culture, except for the part where they believe Asian women are the ideal wives due to the stereotype of them being “docile”and “submissive”. I wonder how much Josh’s dad fits that stereotype and whether that influences how Josh sees Jasmine. 100% I've mentioned this earlier in the thread. Many white men can be racist but still be in biracial relationships. I don't think Josh genuinely loves Jasmine it's more him fulfilling a warped fetishized idea of Asian women dating back to the war period. Unfortunately, retired white men preying on young Thai women is all too common in this day and age. If Jasmine and her family are okay with her becoming a 1 dimensional slave to Josh and his family, being tolerated and ridiculed behind their backs rather than mutually loved and appreciated, then that's their business I guess. Can't speak sense into some people unfortunately.
Also wanted to add, Jasmine's natural disposition is to be a submissive damsel in distress, so when she does progressive things that goes against this nature of hers (solo travelling, having a job, pursuing further education) she becomes uncomfortable and depressed.
There's nothing wrong with any of that! Feminism is allowing a woman to do whatever they want. If Jasmine wants to be a slave to Josh, that's her prerogative. But acting high, mighty and condescending by suggesting it's the correct way to be as well as running courses promoting this way of living rather than letting girls make their own decisions, that I cannot excuse.
