Jack Monroe #620 Terrible

Why would you write on kitchen tiles and not on say a piece of paper/notepad?
I've never seen Nigella/Nigel/That Man with sharpie written ingredients on their kitchen walls, and they seem to have managed quite well over the years
Also, and I don’t want to suggest it was merely for show but, there’s no way she was doing that as a regular thing and not getting black pen on her grout. Now I appreciate that, if it did happen she could touch up her grout (oooerrr missus) but don’t forget that this is the loathsome pixie of the bogging nails. I call performative bull.

GRIFTY KITCHEN IN THE WILD!

Yours for a mere 2 quid in a Sittingbourne chazza (I think it was BHF). If you can find it of course, as someone 👀 put it in the fiction section with the spine not showing

I can’t remember who she nicked the tile sharpie idea from, was it Leggy’s pig restaurant? I feel like those tiles were defiled in the black kitchen of death with hanging knives and boots in the fireplace. Which means she knew exactly what she was doing - summoning a pumble.

This hairstyle annoyed me SO much. It was representative of her attention seeking, aggravating but boring personality.
I always knew that hair-don’t reminded me of someone and it finally clicked when I rewatched Mike Leigh’s Career Girls the other day.

Has Jack Monroe turned up outside Jason Arday’s in her dressing gown with chicken, lager and a fishing rod?

I thought of guest when I was reading through Arday's cacophony of outlandish claims. I particularly enjoyed his boast of raising over £5 million for charity, but he is sadly unable to give any further information for journalists wanting to fact check as he signed NDAs lmao.

It reminded me of the time guest alleged that she gave highly valuable contributions to various government white papers but only on the promise of absolute confidentiality and that's why guest's name is nowhere to be seen on any white paper. So much unrewarded hard work behind the scenes.

Chapeau!

Odd that she so frequently gave herself credit for the work she did not want to take credit for.

The trouble is, I can foresee a future where the Jodie/Jack/Jess/Jason narcissist fantasist grift personality is roundly publicly exposed, which would be great. My worry is, then nobody would ever be able to mention that they so much as had a slight stammer as a child without being piled on for making tit up and being a Monroe.

Yeah, that's exactly it.

One of my best friends from school has an autistic son who was non-verbal until age 9 but has managed to get a place at university starting in September. He's also a runner - nothing like 30 marathons in a fortnight or whatever Arday claimed - but he's at Parkrun every week, and has started volunteering with them as a marshal and a tail-walker. He's been very lucky in many ways, but has also worked extremely hard for the opportunities that he's been given.

And now social media is awash with "how could someone who only learnt to speak so late even get to university in the first place?!", "is he an athlete or an academic?" and the like.

People are (with good reason) becoming more and more suspicious, but we're getting to a point where overcoming adversity is dismissed as a scam, and volunteering or public service is seen as being a cousin to grifting. Jack's legacy is a situation in which the most legitimate path to success is being born to it.

The court of public opinion lacks nuance

I suppose the way to do it is like Mo Farrah* where you achieve greatness and then go, oh btw, I had a mad childhood.

*no one disabuse me of this. Let me have Sir Mo.

I think what these compulsive liars and grifters have to remember is that your lies need to be believable. So in the same way that I don't think anyone ever mistook Jack for Eva Green nor any government used her as a one-woman quango to influence public policy on poverty, nor do I believe Arday raised millions for charity under an NDA or that Jess Taylor simultaneously ran every court in the county at 19 whilst also recovering from cancer, delivering sexual health education to the nation's teenagers and coming up with the design for the Ford Focus. 🤷‍♀️ It seems many people just do not have any kind of bull detector.
