That’s why I specifically said 500k of government money. Harris has grifted far more than that in total too, the difference is when it comes to Jack I doubt she’s on the Essex council payroll like Harris was.

If you mean you have evidence that indicates Jack has easily blagged far more government money than Harris’s 500k, please share your source.

ETA: Which is important because it’s far easier for the media to say £500k of local government money is in the public interest and for people to totally agree than the “Woman didn’t deliver a single patreon reward in years yet idiots still gave her money for duck all” story - in which I suspect a lot of people will think she’s a tosser but also that her patreon is an example of fools and their money being swiftly parted.

If Jack had ever been on Essex County Council's payroll, we would've heard about it by now, most likely from her.

I think it's important not to conflate Simon Harris with Jack Monroe, even though they're both Essex-based and annoying AF on social media. Different grifts, different forms of accountability.

It's very heartening, though, that the public mood seems to be aligning behind exposing and stopping corruption at all levels at the moment. Really desperately hope this is a tipping point for the country.

I never followed jack on twitter and whilst I've seen lots of screenies of her tweets I've never before appreciated how insanely inane, prolific and brain farty her tweeting was. What a boring wanker.

When I was a little Vali in the 1970s my Aunty Carol left home to go teaching college in the BIG (to me) CITY and she had housemates, which to 6 year old me who had never heard of a single other real-life person who was at college or who had housemates was all just hence an imaginary game I played for a while in which my name was Sue* (it’s not) and I was at college and had housemates.

Am of the opinion that Housemate(s) Jack has never, ever had an actual housemate (eta all the sugarmamas she’s glommed onto and moved into their homes don’t count) and it’s just one of those things she says because she thinks sounds all bohemian and cool n’trendy, just like doing her degree and being “at college”.

She’s basically 6 year old me, playing by herself, pretending to be Sue.

I wish her good things, but let’s not forget she enabled Jack and would have been fully aware of the grifting particularly the claims to be broke while they were a joint household with an income (LJCs wage plus Jack’s collabs etc) that I’d be willing to bet was significantly above the national average.

I’m sure Jack was a terrible partner, but LJC clearly did have control and influence in that sphere - see LJC having talked her out of crowdfunding a house.

I’m willing to believe LJC fell entirely for Jack’s backstory and wasn’t aware the entire POV was all lies, so I’ll cut her some slack there as I doubt she was reading all the historic articles and Jack probably told her a fairly consistent set of lies but there’s an uncomfortably long period where, even discounting patreon and the tip jar, that household will have had more money coming in per year than many do in five and Jack was still crying poor publicly at intervals on Twitter and referring to herself as broke. That reflects very badly on LJC indeed, at least to me.

ETA: also another reason the media might hesitate to pick it up, along with the fact they all fell for it as @VielleFemme pointed out. Any examination of the grift over the last few years would have to include LJC and if she has contacts in the media as she surely must, she has more motivation than most to want to stop a story about Jack’s grift lest a wider audience question her role in it.

Hmmm. The first OFSTED inspections took place in 1993, so Jack would have been five year old at primary school. So the school was in special measures from the off and all the way through her time there? Sure Jan.

The time she claimed she was going to train as a SEN teacher and work in a PRU nearly ended me.

Thankfully, this idea disappeared like a gravel cake left out in the rain, once she realised you couldn't just bull/bully your way into the profession on Twitter and it needed years of hard graft to qualify.

I think LJC and Allegra were in abusive relationships. I won’t blame people for being in relationships with narcs.

LJC in particular- the whole going back when lockdown happened thing is not something someone who had a healthy relationship with their ex would do. She was scared. Jack is a master of coercive control.

Women’s Aid list of things that are red flags for coercive control is as follows:

• Isolating you from friends and family
• Depriving you of basic needs, such as food
• Monitoring your time
• Monitoring you via online communication tools or spyware
• Taking control over aspects of your everyday life, such as where you can go, who you can see, what you can wear and when you can sleep
• Depriving you access to support services, such as medical services
• Repeatedly putting you down, such as saying you’re worthless
• Humiliating, degrading or dehumanising you
• Controlling your finances
• Making threats or intimidating you

From what I know - as someone who has never met them - Jack ticks 4 of those boxes. And I know Leggy was older but she was also lovebombed by Jack. You can be successful and rich and still in an abusive relationship

The fact that neither of them moved onto other relationships for a long time says a lot.
