I just think she's so desperate for narc supply (it's her oxygen) that she'll jump at any half-hearted crappy old offer. In this case, an exhausted, hungover, poorly paid junior producer has desperately riffled through the contacts list for 'obesity talking heads', seen that the usual suspects or god forbid actual experts are all off on the Christmas holidays, and so in desperation, summoned up a vague memory of a woman who shouts about poverty and food, and given her a call. And she bit their hand off.
Hard agree, although weirdly she does cosplay plumpness almost as offensively and ignorantly as she cosplays restrictive EDs. Lots of past honking about 'gently padded elbows' (because elbows are known areas of the human body where large is typically laid down, obvs) and 'thick hips'.I haven't listened (SHAN'T!!) and am playing catch up with this thread, but there's no way Jack has any authority regarding obesity. She's a slop-making recipe-writer. She's never been overweight, let alone obese, she has no training or education in weight issues (apart from possibly reading the Sun), and she has zero idea how calories work (judging by her portion sizes in her recipes).
This is a subject close to my heart as I have been obese since I was about 8 and have struggled/suffered with that weight for over 40 years. Jack has managed to be shoe-horned into a space that isn't hers to sit in (give it to a dietician! or a large person with knowledge! or a physics teacher who knows how the human body works like a combustion engine!! even Jacob Rees Mogg would have been a better choice!!) and no one needs her brand of me-me-me sound bites and misinformation.
I shall rip a radiator off the wall if anyone reports that she knows from experience about obesity cos she was struggling to shift half a stone one weekend....

Precisely, and I hope my rant didn't seem to be saying "only a large person could have filled this space!" - the learned people who actually KNOW about the social, cultural, psychological, physical, familial, genetic, physiological, etc etc reasons for obesity should have been there. Not Jack. She knows duck all about why people are large, apart from of course "THE EBIL TORIES". Yep. All their fault, eh Jack.

I'm not going to listen to this, but you get a sense of her absolute revulsion when she talks about poor people, it drips out of her every pore. I don't believe for a second anyone ever said "trash shouldn't breed" to Jack, but I guarantee she's thought it herself.
She definitely hates/fears (same thing often) people of the working class. I reckon that comes from her parents. It's a very Victorian trait but you do see it after that - liberal do-gooders who sort of despise the WC and therefore devote their lives to trying to help them be more MC - to get them to drink less, eat kale, batch cook lentils,quit smoking, quit gambling, quit going clubbing in short skirts and no coat, quit drinking in town on match days....anything of WC culture that they fear and dislike, basically.
Sometimes these types end of doing a lot of good accidentally, like Marie Stopes wanted to bring in contraception in order to stop the 'racially diseased' from reproducing...well no one would argue against contraception as a good thing, albeit her motives stank.
And then you get the types like Jack who just do more harm than good whilst cosplaying as the very thing they hate and fear.

There's her: The sensitive, genteel unfairly fallen on hard times, frail, lesbian, it shouldn't have happened to her, reduced to RENTING a huge bungamansion, writes poetry.
Then there are other poors: large, drunk, procreating, living on rough estates, big televisions, don't know or aspire to anything above their station, no doubt on benefits.
