I can just picture Jack sitting in the green room before the show muttering "cost of Conservatives crisis, cost of Conservatives crisis" to herself in preparation.
I hate the Tories as much as anyone (maybe even as much as Jack!) but they didn't put up the price of cheese, did they? Living costs soaring is not a phenemenon confined to the UK and while the decay of public services is in many ways making it worse it's not entirely on them however easy it might be to score a point by saying it is. There have been Cost of Living payments to people on benefits and we all got that money towards fuel costs this winter, and while we can imagine that Labour would have done better they're not the radical socialists some on Twitter seem to think they are and would probably have done more or less the same things. The cost of the weekly shop (which for most people is more than £20, Jack) is the result of the war in Ukraine, Brexit (which Labour are mostly happy to go along with anyway), climate change, the need in our capitalist system to show greater profits year on year, and all sorts of things that wouldn't just go away if we got rid of the current government.
In some ways it
is about the cost of Conservatives, but it's also
not and it'd be quite easy for a capable Tory speaker to argue that in response to Jack's soundbite. She's a nervous public speaker who does very little research, she's lucky she didn't get ripped to shreds on QT.

Wish you could knock the heads together of those who tweet her with budget food initiatives / concerns about prices (etc). It's clear that popping up every few months going "Cor blimey guvna oive campayned against price rises forever apples and pears" that she DOESN'T bleeping DO ANYTHING other than that.
"Jack can you call Mr Asda and get him to put the price of tinned tomatoes down? I think 10p would be a fair price, but I'll let him get away with 11p if he's a tough negotiator. Thanks for all you do!"
