Yeah and there has never been any kind of web specialist near that website. I definitely can believe she forgot to back it up but it would only have affected whatever any blogs that hadn't been cached by Google/ wayback machine. It wouldn't have ducked her site because her site is just a blog template.

What calamity is supposed to have happened to this website? It looks like the most basic Wordpress dot com i.e. hosted by Wordpress themselves not even self hosted by guest. The theme looks like a standard one that comes free and I doubt it even has plugins. Looking it up on whois the nameservers all point to Wordpress dot com and not a self host. With a custom domain the cost of hosting by Wordpress is very little a year £100/200 max. Whatever happened to it, you have very little access to the technical stuff so rely on their customer services.

ETA: the domain name is registered with wildwestdomains.com which is the Wordpress dot com registrar.

You can't have Google AdSense on Wordpress dot com, which is the platform she uses. She can opt-in to WordAds which is the Wordpress version. It is super simple to opt-in, but needs to be on the Premium pricing. I'm starting to wonder if she is cheaping out on the website.

FWIW I think she can't be arsed with the site anymore now that people seem happy to send her cashos via patreon and the tip jar for seemingly nothing in return.

However I also think the doing sweet FA is having a deleterious effect on her, although I doubt she can see it. More people have noticed and more people are being vocal about her on twitter, etc. which despite claims of living best life, etc. she clearly reads.

If she stopped the cash begs, turned off the tip jar and closed the patreon, she might feel a bit better about herself, but I can't see if ever happening whilst people are still thinking she does so much good, blah blah.

Looking back on archive dot org I think I can see what happened. She was originally on Wordpress dot com but in 2018 she transferred over to self host. Self hosted sites are more flexible, but you have got to be more responsible with things like backups. Something went wrong with the self host and she lost everything. Luckily she hadn't deleted the old Wordpress dot com site so went back to using that again.

ETA: Nothing about this is expensive. If anything her website costs got cheaper. She might have hired someone for a couple of days to recreate the missing pages from Archive dot org.

On Nigella - she's still 1.8 * pre-Nigella promo, but if you look at the first row for Feb 2021 when our records began she was at 346 paying subs, she's only at 1.2 * that level. This is a super slow, gentle, soft cancellation but rest assured it's happening. Those 2 hours spent pretending to be a chess genius could have been better spent trying to retain some of ur passive income hun!

Thanks HTRIA. I wonder if this months downturn is related to Cost of Living? April is the new financial year, the bills all go up, maybe you got your pay increase but you’re still struggling or anticipate still struggling when it do3s come.
I know I went through my monthly budget in April
