Just received a recent issue of Private Eye in the mail (not sure if there's a newer one) and the "In the Back" section has a story about a food wholesaler that ripped off care providers during COVID, with substandard and overpriced packaged meals. The story says that two local councils have used special govt funding to pay the same wholesaler to provide supplies to local foodbanks. The foodbanks are complaining that the wholesaler is charging them way more than it would cost them to buy the same items at retail.
Apparently "poverty campaigners" are taking up the cause of protesting against this wholesaler and its practices. Hmm, if only there were an ex-food bank user and (alleged) poverty campaigner with a large social media following that could bring more attention to this situation......
(but of course that would require her to care about people other than herself and to get off her Mediterranean
a and do something constructive)
