Exactly. And also why she has zero excuse to hide her patreon earnings. A large part of the decision to sign up was demonstrably to help ‘a struggling campaigner’-pretty sure Nigella said as much when she asked people to do so. She didn’t mention getting a crappy onion postcard. Therefore, I can’t see how it isn’t fraud. If her earnings were public, I’d confidently bet that a lot of those people would never sign up because I’ve done it myself for a campaigner I hugely admire. He’s transparent but I saw he was raking it in so he didn’t need my money.
How many people are going to support a patreon who’s making more than them (& that’s not counting all the other earnings she has separate from Patreon?). One born every minute but a good proportion would be likely to baulk

Someone said they got a refund from Amazon on a book because they bought it to support someone struggling...who wasnt. I cant remember when it was posted though.

It is surely fraud? Certainly taking money for a service or product and then not providing it is breaking all the most fundamental consumer laws?

Er... I still have a scar from the b bread knife. Now it lives in the drawer (inside the packaging) and I use a sharp chef knife.😁

As much as I’d love to meet some of the fraus and ninnies and harridans in real life, no. It’d be far too risky. You might get an irate influencer show up. Or some idiot flying monkey would lurk nearby to take photos and attempt to dox users of the site.

That's always been my biggest bug bear when it comes to Jack. She's disrespectful to her audience and cavalier with the responsibilities behind the platform she has. It's the lack of care for others that rankles the most. And is one of the biggest indicators that she's a big fraud. Even if you didn't know about Patreon and the rest of it, it's a neon sign spelling out 'Sh1tter'

It’s a huge ask to expect someone to be savvy enough to see through all this tit from the off when she’s been legitimised by some of the country’s most trusted media outlets.

Didn't intend to be victim-blamey, I was just looking at it from a "legalish" pov- which is often at odds with fairness/what's morally right.
Eta I will be very pleased if/when that argument fails and people get a judgement for refunds.
