She once made three day slow-cooker chicken stock and those pickled beans in the Del Monte salad for zero were going for at least four days but potentially up to two months. That's almost half a week! Aeons in Jack time.

My hat clashes horribly with my pumpkin colouring but I love how over it Sidey B's avatar already is when we've literally only just put our hats on.

I’m still catching up but it’s just occurred to me, when you’re chairing an AA meeting and ask someone to do the opening share, you ask someone to share their “experience, strength snd hope” - someone who has a good AA/recovery ‘story’ to tell. I think (and I could be wrong) part of that is because another good thing about the 12-Step programme is it deflates ego; when you haven’t completed or even started the steps and you’re just back from a relapse, there’s a much higher chance someone will want to tell their sorry story of how they’re worse off than everyone else, the whole “you’d drink too if you had my problems” attitude I mentioned before I had.

So I’m not sure why, again, she’s desperate to tell this incomplete story. As from what I can gather, it appears to be another huge newcomer rhetoric. I really hope she doesn’t relapse, I genuinely don’t want that. But by making a big deal about it won’t stop it happening again! If she finds herself in a position where she thinks about drinking, I hope she has numbers to call to speak to people. I’m not sure that will come easy to Jack but I would love to be wrong.

@Its The Truman Show, thank you for your lovely words earlier, I had a wee tear when I read them. I’m the opposite of Jack - I overthink everything I write and I think about how other people may feel or react. It’s a subject so close to my heart and recovery is there for anyone who wants to put in the work. But I worry everyone has me on ignore, “here she goes again, the AA mouthpiece 🥱”…

Hats!! Grunking!

I read the article yesterday, felt bad as I emailed Cactus TV at one point, mostly suggesting a change in format as they were focussing on tins (were none in the shops) not fresh food (loads of it), and also suggesting that as Jack was clearly uncomfortable (read rit) maybe she could provide recipes based on what shops confirmed the day before was in stock across the country… were they her employers? Did I harass them/her? I think on reflection it was more constructive suggestion than anything else. Nothing worse than what literal strangers across the country throw up on #thismorning or #dkl hashtags which she unnecessarily polices, unrequested.

but wise hausfraus have pointed out there is no mention of lockdown, partner, past form, and general lack of talent, etc. so I don’t feel so bad. And at least she has a nice photo of herself to add to her selfie collection.

anyway, look at my lovely purple hat — I love it!

And now I’m off back to the Alice Evans madness!!!

I read the article.

Tbh I wasn't surprised by anything I read. She's such a classic narc that being finally called out on her bull must have been a massive shock and stimulated an all out narc rage.

She can't control the narrative here and she hates that.

On the plus side she's starting a degree in nutrition. She desperately needs to do something, I know she doesn't have a great deal ofm"finishing power" in most stuff but she was a grammar school student so she should pick up study skills quickly enough....who knows.m

Yeah I read thread 1 before and it occurred to me that while she was still totally unbearable back then, she’s been completely unhinged since DKL, and I don’t think it’s to do with addiction, given that she’s clearly had problems in that respect for a really long time. What we’ve been witnessing for a good 18 months is textbook narc rage.

I read her submissions on the dodgy therapy site (also noticed quite a few errors which is… not good when you’re a copywriter, Jack) and was a bit weirded out by the top one about narcissistic addiction (there was also a weird contraction in that a sentence said “it doesn’t exist” but then went on to explain for a whole blog what it was 🤔). Like is the therapist trying to tell her something in an extremely untherapeutic passive-aggressive way?!

She loves the hat really, the expression is just a visual representation of ”that moment when you accidentally write and submit a cover article for the Guardian, again”.

On a more serious note, @LennyBriscoe I always appreciate your posts, it really shows that you take so much care in how you explain things. Your honesty and knowledge provide a much needed counterbalance to Jack’s narrative of the AA and recovery.

I did a skim read of the article and did feel a bit bad, then read it again fully.

Good on her for completing her rehab and doing something constructive, but that essay is as full of tit as almost anything else she's written.

Hats! More hats! I bloody love these hats too!

My two cents about the Diva article:

ETA: and I bet she is hating the fact that her article has actually spurned us all on to check time lines, pull up old receipts and again highlight the lies. We have also come together to support those who were affected by her words. It did everything but silence us.
