Cant he only stay 3 months without a visa?

He phrased things like he was moving into an actual apartment after the first air bnb he stayed at then in the new vlog said he's moving every 10 days for safety??? and said he extended the 'trip', sir what

also the q&a he had planned was never uploaded

if he moved without a plan that fair enough but i don't get why you would try and hide it?? surely being honest about the struggle is more 'relatable content' 🤪

He probably moved there for two reasons: 1) to avoid getting an actual proper job like the rest of the world, and 2) for content, because otherwise his actual life isn't vlog-worthy.

I suspect that's the only reason he's studying - for the visa. It's probably why he's also suddenly switched to full-time study, as the pointless, Mickey Mouse screenwriting course wouldn't have left him eligible for a long-term study visa.

That and it'll give him an inroad to churn out more studytube content.

Ishe still doing the research assistant stuff (For Ali Abdaal)? In theory he can do that work just as easily from Paris.

But agree with you all - it's a weird move. I mean, if I was in his position I might do that too 😅 Would be nice to avoid the real world and live in Paris for three months!

Honestly same. A lot of people get remote jobs and become digital nomads nowadays and although that's a very privileged way of life, it's not that unusual (especially for youtubers bc their job is already remote). Youtube is obviously going pretty well for him and if he's still got the Ali Abdaal job too he can certainly afford Paris and has no reason (work-wise at least) to be in the UK, so why not. The issue isn't with that per se (imo), it's that it seems like he doesn't know what to do with his content and he's relatively intransparent re: work and studying which doesn't work for a former studytuber imo. Also being a full-time yter always make for boring vlog content so he can't exactly do that either (or like... admit that he secretely wants to do that if he does, idk but kinda seems like it rn))

Yeah it would be really interesting if he made a video sort of breaking down his goals/plans moving forward. For his content & his career (even if they're one and the same!).

Ali says for his business he only wants people working in person now, plus his book seems to be taking literal years as he's too busy pretending to be CEO so that's definitely not a steady gig for Jack.

I doubt he'd do that though - he didn't like being defined by his Oxford rejection, so if any of the plans he outlined didn't happen/work, then he'd be anxious about getting the same 'rejection' reputation.

Some of his stuff seems made up when he's talking about Paris. How on earth did he order two coffees? So fake.

Also, you could just hold up your fingers to show one if you weren't sure? I know that can be perceived as rude, but still.
And "I love you rucksack"? Was he aiming for "I love your rucksack"? Are you and your easily confused?

Lol so true. Think he lives in a fantasy romance novel world. Everything is idealistic

j'adore ton sac à dos (I love your rucksack)

je t'aime sac à dos (I love you rucksack)

that’s according to Google Translate.

Yet despite saying he doesn't want to be defined by his Oxford rejection, he goes out of his way to mention it passive-aggressively whenener he can. (See also: Jade.)

How’s that gonna work when he underpays his editors because they live in Romania?

His new vlog like ...
1. What are those mistakes he made in French? Like WHAT? How? The two coffees instead of one thing - really? Also, the moving flat thing: not to sound harsh, but does he really think he's that famous/loved that people are going to track him down in Paris? He thinks so highly of himself (and is definitely just moving because he has no plans). His "struggles of moving abroad" section seemed so inauthentic, too. Like, signing up for level 2 in his French class? You know you're a beginner - yes, living in France is immersive, but also, you're in Paris, where so many people speak English? I just can't, honestly. What is he doing?
