He seems to think that Paris only exists within a 500 meter radius of the Eiffel Tower. It is so peculiar and almost… colonialist? Maybe that’s not the right word but there is such a touristic sentiment to it.

I’d love someone to force him to watch the popular French film La Haine. He’d tit himself.
I feckin LOVE that film..i feel like he needs to stay where I stayed the last time I visited. My French friend let me down again and we had to find a cheap hotel at short notice. It was in some really dodgy part of town.. and on the way back after dinner one night, my bf and I had lost our bearings and weren't sure we were walking the right way from the metro..so I asked a local woman who didn't appear to know..

when we got back to the Hotel my bf was like erm I think that was a hooker..

It’s absolutely the right word. It’s peak privilege! Just living in a bubble of books, baguettes and French lessons in a two mile radius.

Mathieu Kassovitz's film is so so good. But I fear Jack's reviews/analysis/understanding of La Haine would be as surface level as his book reviews.

I am so annoyed at his Emily in Paris-esque portrayal of Paris. Like dude, people don’t listen to La Vie en Rose and accordion music. If he actually took time to observe the culture and interact with the locals, he’d learn that French rap is one of the most listened to genres at the moment.

But no, he has to show us the cliché Paris.
I'm genuinely surprised that he hasn't bought himself a beret, a blue and white striped top, and bunch of onions hang around his neck.

Jack's in-depth review: "La Haine? Très bien! Chef's kiss."
(Jack immediately moves onto another subject and never discusses the plot in any way or mentions the film ever again.)

thanks for reminding me of when my footy team had a French manager and coaching staff.. the last game or away game of the season was often a themed one among the fans.. the year we all dressed up as French onion sellers was fantastic

So his name is Jack Ben Edwards and his brother’s name is Adam Edwards?

The parents were hardly original with their choice of names, were they? They really just went for every popular white boy British name from the 90s…

Am I correct in thinking that he's no longer a student? The reason I ask is because I've just had a cheeky look at his Instagram, and he takes lots of photos of the books he's reading but he underlines passages in pencil.

Why?

He's probably just annotating for himself - I feel like a lot of readers do that so they can go back and find passages they liked (especially in online bookish spaces like bookstagram and booktube). And as a ~booktuber~ it's his job to talk about books, so I don't see anything wrong with underlining certain quotes/sentences he might want to refer to in a video?

I wasn't criticising him. I was asking why he did it because its not something I've done outside my time in education.

a lot of folks seem to do it tbh and I dk why... like you it's not something I have ever done outside of education... i've even seen ppl on book accounts do it when it's not their job or titles they are featuring on their content

He just seems very… sexless?

Like, I can’t imagine him doing it. Not that I would want to. But I can’t imagine him being a sexually active human and having thoughts of that nature.

Maybe he is asexual or aromantic or whatever.
Ive wondered this a few times, don’t worry 😂

Whoops, sorry, the other comments (and this being tattle) kind of made me think it was criticism! I think people mostly annotate to be able to be able to refer back to quotes they like and to kind of interact/engage with the book and write down thoughts and ideas related to it (similar to how you would in an education context but just for yourself or possibly for a book club/discussion)!

Or maybe….. he’s deep in the closet. And before anyone starts whinging, I’m gay myself and I can just tell he is gay. He seems to give heavy gay vibes from the way he tweets too. And which straight male tweets tit like: “no thoughts just harry styles' cover of girl crush”?!

Jade needs to stop with these fantasies.

They all need to.

There was nothing wrong with Jack saying "Since I'm in Paris, I thought I'd check out the filming locations from Emily in Paris!" Well, y'know, other than there being infinitely more things to see in Paris than the location of a Netflix show that everyone forgot about months ago.

Instead, they always have to blatantly fabricate some grand cosmic arrangement of circumstance as though the universe was designed only for them to prove their "main character energy". It's Jack all over: Just lie about tit and chase viral trends months too late.
