'Let's see if these books are more Instagram or insta-scam...'

Do you think he talks like that in person? I bet he's that friend that can make a room go silent with his jokes so everyone feels awkward.

I kind of have a weakness for smarmy guys. And I've mentioned it before but it got deleted, but he seems to have an overly large tongue. And if we're all agreed that he's not actually reading in bed then .....
Don’t get it twisted, in bed Jack wants to wear your lace panties and bite the pillow.

Hi, I don't know if this has been talked about her before so I'm sorry if this isn't a new conversation 😅 I've just been watching his 'all the books I red in 2021...' video, and he spoke about The Midnight Library again and it's really getting to me the way he talks about it because he overanalyses it and talks about the main theme of the book in a way that he (ad far as we know) doesn't really have the right to. He said that Matt Haig could do more harm than good with the book with I think is total bs, I think he's doing more harm than good by trying to put people off a book which could literally save a life. I agree with his statement that mental health is a huge topic, but that doesn't mean it can't be 'simplified' for those who need some 'self help' content to help them feel understood and have something to relate to. I feel like he's just one of the many people on social media who are talking about important topics such as mental health when they really shouldn't be because they just see it as a topic to be studied. I haven't seen anyone else talk about this, so I'm hoping I'm not the only one upset about this and someone here sees when I'm coming from 😅

He’s under the false impression that writing about suicide could trigger a person to take their life - which is definitely not the case.

Jack knows diddly squat about mental health or suicidal ideation, and he should just stick to being the Tory pon he is instead of pretending to be some woke progressive.

I haven't read this book. Neither has Jack, I'm sure, but I'm prepared to be honest about it.

He doesn't really care what nonsense he babbles online, he merely sees it as a way to make cash and bolster his ego. I called him out on not having read some of the books he claim to have read and his response was "this is just a silly little YouTube channel". This is how much store he sets by what he broadcasts. I suggest people start to show him the same level of respect back.

He's an absolute moron. people who are in the depths of depression to the extent they are considering suicide have very little capacity to concentrate, far less make their way through a novel, far less be able to draw any such conclusion from it. Clearly he imagines he is a clinician as well as a librarian. What a clown.

There’s some interesting criticism out there on The Midnight Library (including on Haig’s tattle thread 😉). That said, I’m sure Jack does a poor job critiquing it. Because he isn’t so good any anything beyond surface level reflection in his videos.

But let me tell you all about those creme de la creme, primo-dreamo, would-definitely-swipe-right-on-them nuevo classics that you all have to read."
Jack literally said he'd swiped right on the books in his 'Blind Date with Books'. 😂

He's such a parody of himself.

In an act of self-harm I have just watched his latest video.

Aside from trying to fit in as many cringeworthy stereotypes as he can about Scotland, he treats us to a conversational cul-de-sac about how he once visited "The Lock Ness Museum". Presumably this is a museum that attracts a lot of footfall from locksmiths? He went to the loo when he was there. Had the story ended with the revelation that the cubicle door got stuck and he couldn't get out, it would have made for an interesting irony. As it is, the story amounts to him just going to the loo.

Perhaps his theme though, is 'sewage'? As we have to endure his baffling précis of an Irvine Welsh novel, which he is shocked contains a bunch of prejudice and profanity. What else did he expect? The prose of Barbara Cartland?

Watching him sit all alone in cafes in his Tommy Trinder suit, desperately trying to wring some romance out of his increasingly lonely and directionless life might have made me feel sorry for him. But then I remembered he's just a "Tory Ponce" (thanks Martha Bartha) and I got over it.

Just watched that video. It was so pretentious it hurt to watch. The suit, the staged shots of him reading in public places, the ordering in French with a smarmy look on his face and of course, he couldn't resist the terrible jokes.

And once again, the 👌👌 hands as he speaks.

Jacques-la-Bibliothecaire is annoying in every single country he visits. And why is he now dressing up like some sort of failed music hall act? Doesn't he have enough actual failure in his life without inventing more? There seems to be no embarrassment threshold that he won't cross.

He's reached critical mass of cringe.

He's not YouTube's resident librarian, he's YouTube's resident David Brent.

To semi quote the tiktok: the librariams aren't interested in him, how about another book department take him?

Honestly if he's the best YouTube can do for their (theoretical) librarian, I'm embarrassed. The site deserves better and not a stuck up tory man child who play acts being literat.

I keep seeing him being called a Tory, which if its true makes me dislike him even more. Is he actually a Tory?

Not that I've seen publicly but I've only followed him since he moved over to booktube but he does give off strong tory energy.
