I have been a woman my entire life...... I always believed that it was the person inside who mattered, whether you were kind or nasty , lazy or a hard worker etc. I grew up at a time when appearances didn't matter, and when we didn't have as much money to spend on clothes, make up etc

So I get so confused about trans issues, cos What difference does the packaging on the outside make? Why does someone's external or internal appearance matter or be relevant? If you want to dress as a man or as a woman, so what? So if someone wants to identify as a man or woman, thats fine by me, but why does it need to interfere with my identity and how I see myself as a woman?

What I do find frustrating is that...my old definition of what it is to be a woman....is no longer valid. I am no longer a woman because i was born female, I am now a CIS woman. Why has my defintion of what a woman is been changed? Who asked me if it was ok to change the definition?

Of course part of being a woman is about the biological facts of sex, periods, pregnancy, menopause, mood swings etc,.....same as being a man is about having a pen, having a broader chest, having a lower voice, having higher testosterone levels.......etc

Being a woman, for me is nothing about wearing particular clothes, or having to wear make up or high heels, or liking pink and fluffy cute kittens....which is what is confusing to me about some trans women, like caitlyn Jenner, who are all about the external appearance.

Well trans people experience very gender dysphoria that is attached to their body so external appearance is very important to them because changing it can help the feelings of dysphoria. Many of them hate everything about their body as it's connected to the sex they were assigned to and not as they identify. In terms of clothes etc, socially transitioning is just as important as medically transitioning because once they appear to be the gender they identify as rather than their assigned sex at birth, that can also help with dysphoria. Of course there's more to being a woman/man than appearance but the appearance is the bit they don't have to begin with. If they did then they wouldn't transition. If that makes sense.

You sum it up well.

It IS very external appearanced based because thats where the dysphoria is usually focused on. If it was purely an internal issue then no trans person would transition at all.

I think regardless of being trans you’re genetically the gender you were born into. It’s the mind that believes it’s the gender they think they are. But honestly, leave them be.

I get what JK meant and I don’t like her or HP at all.

But deep down if I had a kid and it ended up trans of course I’d love my child but I don’t think I’d ever be on board with it.

But I don’t know I just find trans so bizarre. I always have, I don’t wish harm on them but it’s just odd.

And a lot of teenagers are bandwagoning it now which is dangerous because by the time they’re nearly 25 majority will change their mind. It’s all what’s on trend with some.

I do believe there is genuine trans people but a lot of young girls are cutting their hair and wanting to be gay men because of anime character or video game characters because of popular online gay pairings in fandoms.

And then you’ve got the beauty industry. I always had my suspicions on Nikki and good for her I guess.

But it kinda saddens me how the beauty industry online is now male dominated

Yup agree. i wasn’t excluding non trans women from this constant fear also just that trans women as a minority are at a higher, very high, risk of hateful violent crime and murder as they are seen as “freaks” or “oddities” and are targeted specifically.

I wasn't being patronising I was offering the resources from a trans friend not direct to you, but to all/any interested Tattlers on this thread who may not know where to find the trans communities views. I’ve literally never seen a transman telling men to ‘suck my man cat’ but ‘suck my lady fool’ seems to be a common insult online especially towards women. The backlash JKR received was full of those kind of insults and threats of violence

It’s almost like female/male socialisation is difficult to shake.

and the ones who say that, personally make it harder to see them as women. They don't understand the aggressive manly language they're using, these are the kinds of things that have been shouted at women on the street, the kind of thing aggressive men send you when you reject them online. The ones that react like that make you think they're part of the group that does it because it's trendy, you can't say you're actually a woman then act like a man does. I think that's what JKR was evoking if I'm not mistaken.
