Yeah, I’ve heard this about a load of creative professions. Yes it’s great if you’re wildly talented and that takes you pretty far. But if you are mediocre and a) get things done to deadline or turn up on time and know all your lines and b) are a pleasure to work with and c) are flexible according to the nature of the job, all of that can carry you a long way, get you rebooked for work etc etc. looking presentable in the case of actors probably also goes a long way.Yeah, probably not the best actors to use in comparison, given their only similarity is that they're all over the age of 50. Any one of those women could wipe the floor with Evans in their sleep.
I think one of the points @seneca was making and others have commented on is that you're not prevented from succeeding at acting even if you're mediocre as long as people are happy to work with you because you're not a dick. I can buy that.
