But you’re not just “sitting at home on your laptop”, like you said you studied hard and worked hard to get where you are! And your job is needed just as much. Yes people like me (Nurses etc) don’t earn massive money but we knew that when choosing this job (or career if I can). The over time for extra money and long days on our feet etc are just part of the job. However it is nice to feel valued / hear people think we do a worthwhile and somewhat underpaid job, even if it has taken this awful pandemic to bring that to light. But anyway what I’m trying to say is you deserve all you have worked for! It’s nice to understand others situations though isn’t it.
However I do agree on “influencers”, a complete insult to any hard working person.

Annual bonus over the past 5 years has been around 25k but due to huge profits last year I got £55k which thankfully has all gone into savings as its looking increasingly likely that further redundancies will hit my company.
As far as mortgages are concerned, bought my house in 2018 for £435K with a £150k deposit, paying £1,200 per month

I am shocked at what people earn. I am 50 and earn just over £73k ( £75k last year with bonus) for a 37.5 hour week, no overtime or stress; nice colleagues and boss. No pay rise or bonus this year, but don't care; I feel fortunate to have a job. I'm a qualified accountant, the exams were tough and I used all my holiday and spare cash on studying. I could have aimed higher, but I took a career break to raise my 2; plus I didn't want the stress. I know some may think it is a boring job, but it suits as I get to deal with people all over the world. But when I look at how much nurses and carers earn; and others in the medical world; when they do such a valuable job. Could add many more that we valued during this pandemic, shop workers, refuse collectors, etc. Pretty much on their feet all day or night, and I am sitting at home on my laptop. & don't get me started on influencers.

I work in the defence industry as a contractor. I make about £110k a year but that's obviously before tax and business expenses.

I only work 20 hours a week as a proofreader/ copy editor but as I also have a share holding in the business and also receive dividends from property we rent to another business, my gross income last year was £76,000. My husband has his own business but we tend to keep our finances separate.
I wish I could work full time bad sadly I’ve been pretty sick these last few years; just being alive is a bonus and I get to enjoy my 8 year old son a bit more.

I’m 41 and live in the US. I started as a nurse working in pediatric oncology (starting salary $45,000) Now director of infusion and earn $118,000 (before taxes)
From reading on here I cannot believe how little nurses seem to be paid in the U.K.! It’s so disheartening to see this.

That's what I asked for at the beginning, I didn't like taking anything, found it really difficult when I gave up work and sitting down to talk about how much I need a month etc. So I said, just give me a grand and ill make do. If I need any more, I can have it. I dunno, always seem to have that guilt of if ive not actually worked for it then ive not earned it. I know I'm mental but staying at home these days make you feel less entitled. Maybe its just me.
Wow, you are skilled in a whole other way so don't put yourself down!I intended on making a channel on behind the scenes with Etsy, etc. but I got more positive feedback from showing people how to make the kind of stuff I sold!! so.. I’ve morphed into more of a diy tutorial channel over the last year and that’s seen me grow to almost 100K. Not really “mainstream” as I keep my personal self out of it except for the occasional house tour/haul! Never set out for it to be what it is but, I feel incredibly grateful as I’m no where near as skilled or qualified as everyone on this thread.
