I work in finance, £45,000 a year. I’m 26 and live in London. Also have a little side business which I love more than my day job!

From the UK originally but have lived in Sydney for over 5 years.

I work in a tech start up earning $160k. My OH earns similar. No kids, no house. We have plenty of savings. Stress from work is very high and we have cut down all outgoings so that we can try and cut down the amount we work/maybe change our careers altogether.

Neither of us are big spenders and our only real outgoings are rent ($650 a week), groceries, utilities. We usually spend a fair amount each year on travel. We’ve deliberately not bought a house yet as we’re savjng to buy outright( or as close to outright as we can). I’ve always been terrified at the idea of being hamstrung by a mega mortgage.

I’m really pleased with my salary - a few years ago I was on $65k and I’ve worked my way up to $160 - but the grind has taken its toll on me and I’m now weighing up what I really want from my life.

I'm doing a PhD, get a tax free stipend of 15k per year. I get more for whatever marking/tutoring/lecturing I do, and because I'm technically a student I don't pay council tax. I don't drive, don't have children and don't have many outgoings so it's enough for me to save a considerable amount each month.

I work part time as a teacher (3 days) and earn 22k ish. My husband earns 5 times that (somehow ... coz he’s got no common sense at home 😂)

22K plus I get around an extra 3-4k a year in company benefits. I was a stay at home mum for 6years straight after uni so I’m only starting my career. I work for probation housing ex offenders. It’s not paid enough for what I have to deal with but I love it! My husbands earns 80k and absolutely hates his job 🤣

24k plus petrol allowance which is really good...I end up with at least an extra £100 a month from petrol. I work in private healthcare as a health educator and it’s my first job

I’m so shocked I had no idea so many people would be earning 50k+ a year! That sounds amazing money! I always thought my 24k salary as a nurse was fairly decent🤣

Motorcycle courier, self employed, I only earn about 20-22K, because of my low earnings I don't pay a lot of tax however I do pay class 2 and 4 NIC.

I've been at my current courier company for 3 years, previously I was barely making 15K so at the moment I'm with a good courier company doing
decent work and decent money. I don't pay the bills at home so most of what I earn is mine and for the past 3 years I'm saved a hell of a lot of cash.

I earn around £16,000 part time in hospitality. Husband earns £50,000 but almost has a military pension (he’s 36). We paid off our Morgage in January. I used to earn 70/80k running a business with my mum, she passed away and I didn’t carry on. Some days regret not, but her death hit me very hard and I decided to have a complete change of pace in life. She died at 67 of a heart attack, she took on the worlds stress & I didn’t want that for me.
Anyway, when we are able to conceive, I plan to be a Sahm, and enjoy it.

I'm a manager in the NHS and on band 8a so earn about £46k. Hubby works in retail and earns about half of what I earn but he has more savings than me and is miles better with money than I am! I'm 37

I'm 32 and I used to be a nurse and was earning around 24k/year working full time plus nights, weekends and some bank shifts. Currently, I teach online (part-time), have a little online shop and have a couple more passive income streams. I normally get around 3.5k/month (only started 10 months ago hence mentioning monthly income and not yearly). It's really interesting to see how much people make in different areas.

I live in the US - 29 yrs old I work in global logistics and I make $55k USD, husband is same age, government, $80k USD with opportunities to grow. What sucks is that we don’t have proper maternity leave here (only 6-12 weeks unpaid, dependent on if you actually qualify for it).

A bit shocked, sad & disappointed reading the salaries of the NHS workers on here, my mom is a nurse here in the US and she makes 90k+ USD. Am I missing something?
Edited to add maybe because of the different healthcare systems but still, you guys should be getting paid so much more!!

Your not registered then? Registered working the full shift pattern (about 30% extra over the year) would take you up to about £27k first year qualified plus more with bank shifts or was this a few years ago?

I retired (ill health) top end band 7 ward manager but was working shifts so pulling gross about £60k. Wife retired top end band 8 (not back working a band 7 because of C19 in acute mental health) and was on about £60k too. I've got a 20 year army pension and 21 year NHS and the wife got 40 year NHS so we clear about £3.7k a month which is really pretty good plus we have a modest property rental business we built up over the years so our retirement was bloody wonderful until C19 turned up and we can't spend time at our rather nice holiday home on Gran Canaria..........your sincerely Mr Pissedoff Withlife.
