Okay so this video from 3 years back popped up into my recommendations on YT. And oh my god...

look at the comments underneath! People are genuinely concerned about the fact Holly just doesn’t (and still doesn’t) cook with oil because it’s not a ‘health food’. If that isn’t the textbook definition of how not to recover from an eating disorder then I don’t know what is.

she also responds extremely defensively to the comments. If that’s how she responds to people when they question her on her actions/beliefs, or if someone else’s beliefs don’t align with hers, then no wonder she didn’t get into medicine!

She hasn’t changed her meal repertoire since around her second year of uni. It’s always been smoothies, smoothie BOWLS, and boiled veg with some beans & maybe a nut butter. She barely snacks- and if she does it’s on something like a plum. She barely even makes that ‘nice-cream’ (blended frozen bananas) anymore, although maybe that’s for the best because too many bananas can wreak havoc on your bowel movements 😫

I honestly think the best thing she could do is become a registered nutritionist. After her masters this is something that she could easily move into. But first she'd have to admit that her eating habits are in no way healthy, which is unlikely to happen
I actually think it’s possibly one of the worst things Holly could do.... at least with her current mindset.

Surely studying nutrition would mean taking courses which require you to get training outside the vegan diet (I’m presuming here idk much about it all) and I can’t see Holly being a well rounded nutritionist, purely for the fact that I can just see her preaching about veganism to anyone she comes into contact with.

I just think that in order to be well rounded in nutrition she’d need to understand that veganism isn’t ‘the only way’.... she comes across that way heavily in her videos. People don’t want someone who just preaches to them about why their life choices aren’t the ‘right ones’. She needs waaaay more maturity overall.

Holly goes out to eat and still chooses practically plain veggies over something more adventurous😫

Also I can't believe she had over 600 applicants for her tutoring! She is going to have to have an absolutely horrendous job going through them all manually, I'm sure places that have that many applicants automate a large part of the hiring process. Wonder if she'll get her fam reading x applications per day. I really worry that she dove head first into this project with little forethought
I don’t think she actually realised half of what she gets herself into. Either she’s clueless and didn’t even think about what could happen, or she’s scared of not having anything to do and wants to keep busy. This seems like the perfect thing for Holly to do to keep herself more isolated in her bedroom, and more of an excuse for her to keep stressing herself out than anything else.

Oh, also, Holly if you do read this.... just having fruit and NOTHING else apart from some seeds until ‘lunch’ (which you have at around 3 despite waking up at 5am) IS NOT HEALTHY. You’re doing a lot of intensive exercise throughout the day, plus work. Please just give out the right impression to your audience! Don’t let them think that eating half a melon and drinking a smallish smoothie for 12 hours is normal! ITS NOT!!!!

She doesn't (she doesn't even watch youtube all that often). I remember when she was at Cambridge she put up a video called "why I don't watch TV or read books" where she essentially said she was proud of this fact. Becuase of the backlash she took it down less than a day later if I remember correctly.

She must think watching TV is a waste of time. I used to think that about video games, until my boyfriend pointed out video games have stories just like books and TV shows, so why judge them to be a waste of time? A lot of the media I consume is so I can keep up with conversations at work! Imagine how dull a conversation with her must be, she doesn't even keep up with the news
TV shows and films are wonderful escapism and also help us understand things; I would have thought Holly would enjoy them in order to keep her mind busy as she doesn’t seem to like being alone with her thoughts. Unless it’s to be “not like other girls”. It’s sad really because if she wants a romantic relationship in the future she’s going to find it very hard to find someone who would match her restrictive diet, and who doesn’t want to ever watch anything, and only go for runs. I wish her well but she really needs to wake up and see how she is restricting herself. It seems so strange to upload to YouTube but not watch anything else by other creators.

I wondered if it was one of her real life people she spoke to who spoke some sense to her and pointed out that doing a nutrition masters when you have a past history of disordered eating maybe isn't smart

I watched her trip to Australia, but I was amazed when she ended up in hospital for dehydration as she didn’t realise you can’t just endlessly drink water to avoid dehydration. And she wants to study nutrition at masters, but seems to eat the most lacking food, she’s vegan but seems to just eat fruit and not a great deal else :/ I just found it all a bit bizarre

People have commented on the similarities between Holly & Ruby, now Holly has a sprained ankle exactly like Ruby did!!
It’s not surprising; both certainly have obsessive tendencies, a kind of addiction to being busy and seem socially juvenile at times. Neither have ever done an ‘having an utterly unproductive day in my life’ video but hell will freeze over before that happens, they probably wouldn’t know even what to do with themselves.

That’s what my biggest issue with the studytuber thing in general for me – they aren’t good influences on young girls, especially ones that feel conscious about their bodies and eating habits. There needs to be a better balance between studying/working, socialising and just doing normal things and having fun. There are a few lesser knowns out there that have a way better balance than Holly (and aren't still suffering from an ED) who can never let herself relax.

I wouldn’t be surprised if ruby actually got inspiration from holly and so suddenly decided to take up exercise and be more restrictive with food. Kind of funny/sad how even after an injury instead of actually assessing it and realising ‘hey, maybe I’ve been overdoing it and should just rest for a little bit’ nope, neither can help themselves.

I’m part of the studygram community and let me tell you i have seen several premed/bio students end up in a naturopath “school” after a medschool rejection. Most of them are also vegans and religious.
Holly reminds me so much of these brainwashed people, she just checks boxes at this point.

Gee in that vid Shen sounds like a Holistic “doctor” in the making

Apparently fat-soluble vitamins are not a thing for holly 🤷🏻‍♀️

If she's going to take another year off she should definitely start looking for internships or work experiences to boost her new applications. Also, she got a 85% on her dissertation...why not trying to re-write it as a research paper? She wants to become a PhD graduate doesn't she? Why not start publishing and doing some lab work experience? As someone mentioned before, Cambridge graduates usually have great CV's, not just great grades as she does.

Okay so Holly’s last Instagram caption was just 🙄🙄

She starts by disclaiming that she’s not preaching by posting the caption she did. Ridiculous! Her username is VEGANhollyg, and she then goes on the textbook definition of a preachy rant about veganism. Just because you put a disclaimer there doesn’t mean it’s not preachy.

Then, she goes onto use the quote about the Oxen, and how people forget the Oxen eats grass. You simply cannot compare the human digestive system to that of multi-compartment stomached animals. It defeats the whole purpose of the quote. Yes, you can interpret the quote to mean something, but at its basic level, the quote makes no sense at all.

And finally, she addresses the whole ‘veganism is restrictive’ line by saying she tried a load of stuff while being vegan, therefore it’s not restrictive. I mean, come on??!?? In no way is Holly trying mushrooms a valid example of how her diet isn’t restrictive. Vegan diets don’t have to be restrictive, but hers is. She’s not adventurous with food, is in no way a foodie, and on top of being restrictive, her meals are so repetitive. She can’t give us that crap.

Holly being out of touch with the people again. Veganism is cheap for you Holly because you still eat a restrictive diet, and are probably deficient in fats and protien. I'm not saying you can't eat a healthy vegan diet on a budget, but I wouldn't trust her evaluation of an affordable diet

Okay I screenshot it to save people looking though the comments

Yeah sorry Holly people do have channels focused around one (interesting) thing, but they also have a good personality to go with it!

Also saw she's asking for prank suggestions? Please no, I can't think of anything more cringe
"yes i vlog a lot BUT it's diverse: chats & eat with me, chats, eating..." LMAOOOOOO HOW IS THAT DIVERSE

EDIT:
Christ she is so agressive! She's blown up at people in the comments before too I remember. I hate that influencers (especially StudyTubers) label anything that isn't blind praise as "hate" and go off on one.
THIS! @sugafairyy literally started her message with "i mean no hate" and ended it with a heart, it was just a kind suggestion! why does holly take it so aggressively? this reminds me of that screenshot in which she was writing on her journal that her parents mean no harm, but she takes their help the wrong way... everytime anyone suggests something new or questions her life style, she gets very defensive!
holly, listen to others, accept suggestions, learn from your mistakes, don't be so stubborn!

I get she went to an All girls school so minimal contact with males their, surely she had youngish male teachers or TA's though, plus any extra curricular. I'm genuinely amazed it took her 22 years to talk to a person of the opposite sex, most teenagers would of had a part time job with guys, lived with guys in halls, had guy friends on their course and in societies etc. What about the trade men who would come round to your house to do jobs, Matt's friends, her dads friends and surely Emily has had boyfriends in the past. I cannot understand how sheltered Holly is
I went to a small all-girls school so had a pretty sheltered upbringing in that regard but that changed somewhat once I went to uni lol...but I'm baffled as to how she could have had such limited contact with the opposite sex at university even just platonically. Fair enough if she's not into dating but I do find it odd that men are basically a novelty to her at 22 years old.

she probably only wants to go to what she considers prestige Unis in posh privileged areas, i doubt you get her applying to a Uni in a deprived poor Northen area
She definitely has a case of 'head up her own bottom' which tragically affects a large percentage of the Studytube community

Just watched her latest video... I can never get over how clinical and empty her house looks. Almost looks like it's just been burgled!

I find it hard to listen to Holly much these days with the fake Australian twang to her accent.

I hate how Holly acts like UCL took FOREVER to get back to her and how she put SO much effort into her applications. She literally started applying for masters like a few months ago, and applied for this MSc Cancer at the last minute.
I came here to say this! She's acting so entitled, complaining about UCL not getting back to her when she applied SO late that she thought the applications could have closed. She's ridiculous.

R.E the not sweating after exercise thing i wonder if there is a link between delayed puberty/lack of periods as dont most females, males as well start sweating during exercise at puberty, Holly has never mentioned periods and physically looks like a pre-teen who hasnt gone through puberty, although she loves to talk about how hairy she is so maybe not
It's likely to do with her history of eating disorders. They usually cause people to stop menstruating, affects hormone levels (which would stop her body changing etc.), and can cause lanugo (fine hairs on the skin) to grow more readily. Apparently sweating is also linked to puberty, so if her body hasn't properly gone through it yet, then it's understandable that she doesn't sweat much/at all - although it's not anything to boast about (which is how she talks about it).
