Just catching up on this thread. Are you from MK? If it's the same one, I was really young when it happened but as a teenager worked in a restaurant and the guy that turned out to be the killer worked in the kitchen when I was a waitress there. And girls actually complained about him being a creep!

Reminds me of when Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman were missing, and the media/news always paid more attention to Holly, as Jessica's family were more working class.
Is this not because Holly’s family were more open to the media/news, whereas Jessica’s were much more private and decided not to comment as much? I specifically remember once the bodies had been found and sadly confirmed to be the girls, that Jessica’s family released a statement saying something like they no longer wished to comment publicly about the case, and that they wished to grieve in private.

Sorry, I think I got it confused with something I read about the comparison of the Madeleine McCann and Shannon Matthews searches years ago.

I have been reading this thread for a while, and I had totally forgotten that I went to school with a girl who was murdered in the Isle of Man! I'm not from there originally, but I lived there for a year or so when I was 12/13. I remember Samantha being a bit wild, but I got on well with her and she made me laugh. It's so sad and tragic, she was only 16. Not sure how to link articles sorry, but her name was Samantha Barton, so if you google her name along with IOM, the story should come up.

Just remembered someone (I didn't personally know him, I heard it from a friend) that asked out one of his colleagues out for a drink after she had quit her job at a small accountancy firm. She was moving to New York as she had been offered a job at a bank in the World Trade Center. 6 months later she was killed on September 11th, 2001. She was only in her early 30s.

My uncle got caught up in a shooting at work. He was an attorney for a well known firm in SA. A disgruntled ex-worker came in with gun and started shooting. My uncle and his secretary barricaded in his office but they both still got shot. My uncle survived unfortunately his secretary and several other people died.

A family member was killed with a shotgun by her Husband in their home. He then shot himself.
He was well known in the area so had a big funeral.
It was a joint funeral for the both of them

Was this in Bournemouth? A girl that worked at the same place as me (different department) got killed in the very same way.

What has been most shocking for me about this thread is in how many of the male on female crimes are so similar in nature. Its something I always knew happened but seeing all these stories at the same time just makes it hit home. So awful

That is so sad.

I lived in a house where the previous tenant had killed himself and the vibe was horrible. A month or so down the line I found out why it felt soul sapping and why it was sat empty for a year, no local person wanting it and it made sense, the previous tenant was a raging alcoholic, ended up being a hermit in the back bedroom for a long while while drinking herself to death. Unable to cope with his mothers death, weeks later, her adult son hung himself on the stairs.

Speaking of which, several years after I moved out of that house of horrors, the sister of the lad who killed himself (different mums) was found dead one morning. She had gone to bed with her boyfriend and simply didnt wake up. I remember alot of fingers being pointed at the boyfriend at the time as they were misusing prescription drugs.

OK I don't know anyone who was murdered thankfully but I've an interesting story from my town. So years ago a woman was murdered in her home, a violent stabbing and her poor mother who lived in a house beside it found her body. The entire town suspected the husband but the DNA found didn't match and they had no evidence.
So a few years ago totally unrelated, a young woman was found unconscious in another county. She was badly bruised on her face and had no recollection of what had happened. It was thought she had been attacked so they found out the bus she had been on and they got DNA from all the people who travelled on the same bus as her. Anyway it turned out that she had actually had a seisure and collapsed and hadn't been attacked but when the dna was being tested one of the samples was flagged from a crime from from 15 years previous. It turns out that a lecturer from a college the girl goes to, who travels to his job everyday on the bus, was the guy who murdered the woman in her home. He was only a teen/early 20s at the time and a friend of the husband had transferred a few thousand euro to him. He was arrested and charged and the husbands friend too but still no sign of the husband being done for it yet. The property the house was on was worth a lot of money as the ESB wanted to buy it but the wife wouldn't sell it.
