Looool is it just me or do all those insta stories just scream “I’ve known my instagram followers were mugs since the start”

I rushed an ebook in 24 hours just to get money etc
Don’t wait until your idea is perfect just get it out there??

THIS IS SHIT ADVICE. Most people have a bad experience with a brand and are put off, will leave terrible reviews and business will fail. Grace can keep bringing out shit because people are obsessed with her 🤢 so they overlook how bad things are because they still want to support her. Normal small businesses DO NOT have this luxury.

her route to ceo is so unique and unattainable, I wish she would stop giving business lectures because whenever she does it’s so obvious she has no idea what reality is.

Also if she’s so determined to be a business influencer she really needs to produce higher quality content. The only tangible thing grace ever says is fucking to do lists. Needs to take a leaf out of Patricia bright who is actually intelligent, non judgemental, has self awareness and gives people real tips on starting a business, being smart with your money etc

Veganism is a form of privilege so for once I actually agree with them there. But given that they built their entire brand on veganism etc they should have included vegetarian options rather than going straight to meat. I think it’s a desperate attempt to get more people to buy their app at the expense of their morals and values as a business.

clearly grace should have actually gone to business school because her company has strayed so far from its values and purpose that they’re all just a mess. But anyway, all this shows is how she’s not actually disrupting the industry as she’s needing to backtrack a lot to remain somewhat competitive
I agree with this too, about veganism being a form of privilege, but I actually hate how they've used it to make themselves look good when their "founder" built her brand enforcing veganism.

This is a great, important discussion to have, but in short veganism is a form of classist and racial privilege. Many examples, firstly whilst beans, oats, veggies etc. are cheaper than actual meat, processed food which are not vegan may be cheaper than those things. "Cheap" in there accounts for the real issue of the privilege of time i.e. people in lower socio-economic working classes may not have time or the resources to cook so it is easier for them to rely on processed, non-vegan, ready made foods (however this is just one part of research I've read, I need to see if someone's done a study to compare food prices and these kinds of costs to show if a vegan lifestyle can fit a larger range of livelihoods!). Food inequalities and accessibility also differ between different countries like in the US where there is accessibility to fast food, food deserts like someone else pointed out above. The ability to make preferences for food based on ethics as opposed to survival is privilege. Being vegan in certain Asian countries can be quite hard because of the lack of alternatives. The racist issue is many people who are extreme vegans say anyone consuming meat are horrible people who want to hurt animals and contribute to mass environmental issues in the world, whilst overlooking the fact that black and brown indigenous people have a very unique, sustainable, respectful relationship with meat (as part of their relationship with nature) and one they depend on so it is horrible and flat out wrong to say those communities are horrible. They live very agrarian lives and are definitely not contributing to any atmospheric transforming levels of pollution.

However, there is a point being that Shreddy def did not have these issues in mind where they were talking about privilege because their white feminism can't see past their strive to billionaire status.

Find it so funny how both Grace and Zoella have book deals with penguin under Gleam and Zoella would just post time lapses of her writing her book and baking with chirpy music vs grace who is acting like she’s writing the 99 Theses by Martin Luther and booking massages after a one day work week because writing about herself is so hard whilst constantly seeking validation

It’s very sketchy when companies ask job candidates to perform tasks (e.g. designing a 6 month marketing strategy) which under normal circumstances would be paid for free. It’s absolutely reasonable to have small tasks as part of your interview process, but when the task is substantial enough that there may be an incentive for the company to use it without even hiring you, that’s an issue. I’m sure TALA would assure everyone they’re ethical and would never do that, but not requiring these excessive pre-interview tasks would be the most ethical option here.

It’s also a sign of what’s to come with the company: if they have no problem burdening a candidate with a 40h task with no pay, I wouldn’t anticipate a healthy 9-5 work dynamic... something tells me their work WhatsApp group is pinging at all hours and you’d always be expected to be on call.

what the actual fuck is this

getting serious “i want to be a good billionaire” vibes from this. yes! manifest more money! exploit more humans! yes grez! as long as you’re rich it’s cool!
Her priorities are gross. Considering the financial ruin people are facing due to the pandemic, she could be a little less open about her obsession with amassing excess wealth.
It’s not as if she’s philanthropic with her cash either.
It’s okay though because she never treats herself to anything .

Some books about sustainability might have been more appropriate, but we know it’s all performative. It’s always been about the money for her, she literally does not give a shit.

Not sticking up for Grace here but speaking as someone who has similar... quirks, such as a texture issue, I'd hate to read a thread or a post on social media where complete and utter strangers who only really know what's shared online speculating about being autistic because there's a slight overlap of traits.. I would find it quite offensive, because nobody really knows, and it's not fair to say she has this because of x, y, z reasons. We don't know. We're not professionals, and we can't formally diagnose her or even begin to try to. And Grace probably doesn't know either. Even if she did know, it's not really anyone else's business and why would it even matter anyway? Unless people are going to try to use that against her...
but why would you find being described as autistic offensive? it is a condition like any other medical one, would you find it offensive if someone speculated she had chickenpox? i think this says more about your attitude towards being autistic than anything else tbh. noone has tried to formally diagnose her, people who have the same symptoms have pointed them out. I cannot weigh in on this as the only autistic people i know well are male (my partner and his son) but this quite aggressive criticism of a valid viewpoint is bizarre

What's the name of the EA? Wouldn't mind seeing her linkedin

"Only a few more weeks until you finish the manuscript then we can send you away on a well deserved break to recharge" 😂 How many holidays has she been on since the pandemic started? 2 or 3?

Sorry but the "we intend of" is really annoying me.

It should be either "we intend to" or "we plan on".

Got that off my chest! 😅

Oh god, Grace is absolutely killing it today with stories tattle will hate 😂 her new linked in bio one and the one "maybe don't do this"
Her story about her LinkedIn profile - I agree that you should sell yourself, but who the hell writes their LinkedIn profile in third person? I hope no one takes it as advice because writing your CV/LinkedIn profile in third person is a great way to sound egotistical and impersonal.

(it was just mentioned in the last thread) but if ANY job made me do a FIVE hour meeting on a Friday, in fact on any day I would have to quit what could you possibly need to talk about for FIVE hours (one of the arguments for working from home is that face to face meetings are unproductive you can have useful and valuable discussions without having to sit around a table for 2 hours listening to 2 people talk) for someone so productive she seems to like to waste other people's time

I was thinking back to the first video I watched from Grace and it was a review of Kayla Itsines's fitness guide. It was a very negative review, but it was honest. Of course it has been put on private now, but she was criticising how the guides were predominantly low bodyweight high intensity workouts vs heavy lifting... which is literally what Shreddy is all about. It's interesting that she was more than happy to critique another influencer - even use it as clickbait - but now that she is the subject of that criticism she just cannot take it.

how does she have to ask people where love island is on? I swear she has a huge tv in her living room? surely she must have noticed it's on ITV?
Life's hard you know when you gotta get up early to do hip thrusts before you start your industry disrupting, boss babe 4-5 hour work days before hanging out with Mon and the girls the day before your flight to Mykonos you just don't have time to find where love island is on

What was she actually trying to achieve by sharing her daily schedule to 1 mil people?? Most of which are either going to be a) out of work so quite happy to swap with her or b) still employed and managing much busier schedules which don’t allow them to do personal things in the middle of the day so also very happy to swap??? Why is the productivity kween expert author whinging about her day of sitting in on meetings watching other people do work????

She seems relentless in having to prove to other people that she’s busy and important instead of just getting on with it like a busy and important person would. She is so detached from reality, everything she posts is just making it worse for herself. She is committed to misunderstanding her audience.

Excuse me while I rant about this - someone tweeted what looks like a newsletter from TALA and I have a few thoughts. Greenwashing is a pet topic of mine so it’s frustrating to see companies make such an half-arsed effort to win sustainability points.

This kind of activism so lazy. I mean it’s not even activism - it’s just a random collection of facts (well, not sure if they’re even facts as they aren’t cited - great research!). It’s classic corporate activism to lecture people about how they need to act more sustainably, without reflecting on the actions of the company itself and how they are trying to reduce their own impact. Like what’s the point of mentioning the CO2 emissions of transport without reflecting on their own transport emissions, which must be pretty high as all their factories are based overseas?

I’m just struggling to see what the purpose of this e-mail is, or how it is relevant to their customer base. People who buy from TALA are probably not the same people who are chucking their disposable masks on the street. TALA customers are not personally burning fossil fuels. What would actually be interesting and of worth would be a newsletter where they document their carbon emissions and what they’ve done to offset that; explaining exactly how and where their fabrics are recycled; giving the tours of their factories that they’re always promising. The reason they don’t do any of these things is because I think TALA is devolved into so many different factories/companies that I don’t think their employees actually have the answers to those questions.

It’s just quite obvious that they don’t have anyone on board who has specific experience in sustainability. You don’t have to be a specialist in sustainable fashion to start an eco friendly brand, but when you’re at the point of having multiple factories and making millions in sales, you need to be able to be more transparent about how and where you are making your clothes. The wishy-washy facts on the #itscooltobekind page just don't cut it. Brands like People Tree release annual social reviews where they are very clear in the exact number of factories they use, where they're based, and insight into their working conditions. Ensuring ethical practices and sustainability right down the supply chain is fucking difficult, and at the moment it seems like TALA is relying solely on certifications to cover their backs which isn't enough. You need to be independently auditing these places yourself because who the hell knows what your factory in Turkey or Hong Kong is actually like since you've never even been there.

Don’t know if anyone caught this comment thread, but it’s so true! Especially the second comment, they’re a multimillion pound business, this shouldn’t be happening!

Teething problems? It’s a multi million pound business run by another multi million pound business collaborating with another multi million pound business. Their problems on depop have nothing to do with being ‘new’, it’s a clear lack of organisation and poor management of external relationships. TALA just do whatever they want and hope they get away with it because people are dumb enough to continue supporting them for some reason

Super random but I've been lurking here for a few weeks now because unfortunately I only recently realized how annoying and shady Grace really is... I have been following her since her oxford days and I really enjoyed her content back then however, she became so boring when she started shoving her "girl boss" attitude down everyone's throats.
I remember feeling super upset because she is the "CEO of two businesses" and is just a little older than me which obviously made me feel like an absolute loser.
So thank you guys for exposing her for the countless shitty things she does and showing me and others that she is just an average human too. I can't believe I was looking up to her once lmao.

They possibly still have and use those products? And you’re out here laughing basically saying that it was shit stuff like wow. Kick in the teeth much.
And then the next bit where she says she wrote a book just to make some quick cash its like yeah grace, all your products are made just to make some quick cash lmao
