not Grace trying to flex that her ‘competitive salary’ team are working when they should be off sick????

‘out of pure kindness and love for the brand’ - so you mean you consistently rely on the ‘goodwill’ of your employees to get work done rather than employing enough people, prioritising workload properly and compensating employees? do they even provide sick pay? maybe Grace could’ve helped with the launch instead of dicking about with her 800 word Instagram schedules?? nobody’s going to die if TALA delay their 40th identical launch of the year for a day or so.

i use accessibility software to help me proofread, because it’s called a reasonable adjustment and I am legally entitled to reasonable adjustments at work. TALA must be an HR nightmare

So her employees are working whilst clearly quite unwell is that what she is saying?

It just irks me with all the excuses you are a brand, people have expectations. Just pure excuses if you don’t have the resources to launch so many products then slow down and stop doing so many releases until you can keep up?

It’s also just a load of bollocks bc no comms team are sitting there writing the captions and creating graphics on the day of a launch. Unless they’re stupid and don’t know schedulers exist, or have been so ridiculously rushed and overstretched before that they’ve not had a moment to write, proof and schedule what they’re putting out in advance.

That was one thing that really annoyed me in her stories a couples of days ago:

If you can’t hire fast enough to get the resource you need, you pause, consider pinch points and reprioritise workload. If you actually care about your team and have any emotional intelligence or knowledge about how to run an organisation, you don’t just keep spreading stuff about and hoping people don’t burn out. There is plenty of stuff they don’t need to be doing, those planners for a start, nothing is a life or death situation, and they’re beholden to precisely no one. Even most investors will understand the business sense of a reset if it means success and bigger returns in the longer run.

Why she acting like posting on instagram is hard and time consuming? I’m sorry but as far as I can see from my experience of posting online, it takes not even five minutes to check something, especially if you want to make your content as accessible as possible! All she should have said was an apology and explained her team is reduced right now due to sickness but to go off on someone asking for the bare minimum from a company is ridiculous- check your attitude grace.

If my boss knew I was working the day after being in the HOSPITAL she'd rightly order me to log off and not come back to work til I'm better. Doesn't matter if I told her I'm 'passionate' and 'love the company', she'd be like that's great but your health is the priority.

Not all bosses are like that, but if Grace wants to pretend that she’s a cool compassionate boss, that’s what what good bosses do. Good bosses don't proudly shout about their employees working while sick - it's shameful. Employees will often overwork themselves, so it's your responsibility to order them not to work if you're concerned for their welfare, even if they say they want to work.

I'm really not surprised though. It's classic startup culture - here's your two "duvet days" a year, but god forbid you take actual sick leave after being in the hospital.

Grace's response is absolutely horrific and goes to show how little 'respect' she has for her customers and fans and knows that she could shit in an environmentally friendly bag and sell it for £79.99 + VAT and it would still sell out. Needs absolutely no quality, class, ability or sense and is currently getting by on her fanbase which she uses and abuses at every opportunity. The time will run out eventually and there will be a fall.

A normal response: "Hey, thank you for the feedback, we always do our best to make sure our posts are inclusive and as accurate as possible though sometimes mistakes can happen. We appreciate your comment and will work on it going forward"

no but have you guys actually turned off the sound and only read the caption? it‘s an auto caption and makes NO sense like the comment said. this didn’t happen bc of one dyslexic person, it happened bc they couldn’t be bothered to actually type it up. how embarrassing to respond to a very valid comment like that lmao

Has anyone seen TALA use MS Office? It seems like they just use Google products...MS Office's proofreading tools are way better than Google's. Grace seems to use GMail for everything. Maybe I'm underinformed/unfairly cynical, but if Grace won't bother buying MS Office for her team, I can hardly see her buying specialist software for her dyslexic employees...

To be fair Google is fairly stock standard across the marketing industry as it's much easier to work collaboratively in real-time compared to MS Office. Though I'm sure there are online proofreading tools/additions to Google that can be used...

I cannot believe she doesn't see how bad this makes her look on so many levels. First of all how needlessly aggressive it is, but then how it just states how little she values her employees that they are working while sick

Also if it’s a scripted video, it would take two seconds to copy and paste the captioning over

Hopefully she also had the consent of the person to literally let everyone know they have dyslexia. Since it's a small company, this person could be easily identified so it doesn't seem to really be very compliant with data protection

w
shes so out of her depth it’s unreal. She makes out that she’s this business woman when in reality she doesn’t have a clue.
