Really nerdy but im a graphic designer and so this is what i look out for everyday but the shreddy bus and branding in general really pisses me off and aside from personal taste, the colours fail accessibility tests.. this is really basic stuff, so much for an inclusive kween

Oh my gosh it’s like reading myself writing! None of my friends can understand why I can’t watch movies!!

I was also just googling about hypersensitivity in adhd and I’m just so convinced I’ve found the answer to so many years of suffering with huge huge fear of rejection / criticism (I get physical pain) / not being liked and what I felt to be social anxiety yet couldn’t put my finger on because I have always been the loud, fun one!!

Also it’s just so lovely to have discovered this thread full of wonderful people - even if it ends up that I don’t have it, it’s comforting in a way to understand that others feel this way too.
Yes, I've heard the rejection sensitivity thing before too and I definitely experience that. I basically don't even like asking anyone to hang out in case they say no. My nightmare is organising my birthday party and people not coming 😂 so I just don't celebrate my birthday. I'm also super sensitive to people criticising me in any way. As a child it presented in a way that if someone told me off for something I'd be suffering thinking about it for weeks!!

Crazy to hear others have similar experiences!!!!

I have no background in graphic design but the branding is really off putting to me. My eyesight isn’t that bad but everything blurs together and the baby yellow and pink look amateurish and dated

I agree, and just the name in general "shreddy" and content geared towards losing weight and growing a bum makes it seem so immature, especially compared to new apps like Beyond which are trying to move away from the aesthetics of fitness

Haha yes that's so true. For the longest time ADHD wasn't even on my radar because I didn't realise how it can manifest with the inattentive type. I actually felt incredibly sluggish and lethargic with 24/7 brain fog. I always wondered how other people could iust tick things off a to do list because I had no energy and motivation.
Oh my gosh I’m exactly the same. Sometimes I forget to eat or do normal daily tasks

This whole ADHD discussion is so cathartic! I have terrible hypersensitivity, it hurts me when I get rejected and I usually will struggle to stop myself having an emotional outburst. It makes me a bit sad that it was never picked up on when I was a child because it really explains why I struggled so much during school (I’m 24 now) despite getting good grades. I also have multiple conditions associated with ADHD such as depression, OCD and an eating disorder.

The film thing is really interesting to me, I haven’t been able to watch a film in years yet I can watch multiple episodes of 20 minute shows such as The Office. It‘s also impossible for me to read a book despite wanting to.

Sorry for the ramble but this thread has really made me feel so much more normal, I’ve never met anyone else that struggles in the same way!

Anything with pink and yellow together reminds me of an infected boil with pus coming out 🤢

Exactly! I read the portfolio of the designer who did the app as it was posted here I think a thread or two ago and I thought it was telling how he essentially said he had to work around the branding - can imagine the pain of a brief like that falling on my desk and having to accommodate some bizarre personal preference from the ceo despite me and my team being the communication specialists 🤦‍♀️🙄

I wear makeup etc., but I often think of this quote when I think about TALA and Shreddy - replace 'silky skin' with 'the ideal body' and you're there (other than [at least explicitly] the bit about boys, to give Grace a scrap of leeway), especially thinking about the types of workouts & exercise they encourage

maybe I’m sensitive but it comes off so condescending and like she’s looking down from her high CEO horse when she posts tit like this

Btw I suffered through the podcast she did that came out today (Secret Leaders) - nothing really new, just the usual stuff we've come to expect from her.
  • Makes her favourite claim that Oxford were watching her every move and had a vendetta against boss babe CEOs: "any suspicion that I wasn’t doing anything up to standard would have resulted in some sort of action which I wouldn’t have liked." She's so dramatic, can promise you they were aware and did not care.
  • The hosts ask her about her biggest tip for productivity. They also ask her to be succinct (presumably because of her rambling before), and of course she rambles on anyway for 5 minutes about her number one productivity tip: getting an Executive Assistant! She then says later that she isn't saying everyone should get an EA because that's obviously ridiculous and not possible for everyone. But still says that she only started balancing her time/setting boundaries as soon as she got the EA. So somehow she is writing a book detailing her personal tips on how to be productive in a healthy way, meanwhile admitting these habits only started when her EA started holding her hand. I'm starting to think the EA should be writing this book, not Grace.
  • Finds it hard to distinguish between trolling and critique, to no one's surprise.
  • Talks about when she posted a recap of her amazing life since university and took it down after people said it was insensitive. She agrees it was insensitive, but then goes on to say how she thinks business owners are critiqued more for going on holidays when they are women. No Grace, people critiqued you for your holidays because you went during a pandemic and behaved like an anti-masker covidiot.
  • References the white feminist book Lean In. Says she doesn't agree with everything in the book but uses it to back up her point about rich women being treated differently to rich men. So many women of colour have written thorough critiques about how harmful that book is and she needs to stop promoting it.
Really late to the party, but I listened to it yesterday and had so much second hand embarassment for her, I almost had to stop a few times. She came off as SO narcissistic, which I guess shouldnt be surprising lol. Literally the podcast is 40mins long and I swear the host got in what, like 5 questions? She would ramble on so much in her answers, and end up talking about things totally unrelated to the question, and would talk so fast, it left zero chance for the host to get a word in or to turn it into more of a conversation. He even asked her twice to answer succinctly because he had many other questions lmao, like c'mon Grace how did you not get the hint?

Also she kept repeating that she had a million followers on IG, and that she was CEO of two companies, which is suuuper unusual (she even said something like "Tala and Shreddy are separate companies, but they're essentially subsidiaries of the same thing... The thing being me *laughs*" which came off super cringe ??). Also plugged the "writing 10,000 words per week at Oxford" thing🙄. Lol. I was a little surprised, because I do find she normally presents herself pretty well in external interviews... whereas this was the barely-coherent ramblings of a privileged narcissist lol

View attachment 417442View attachment 417443I’m so glad someone else talking about her incoherent writing style!!
When your writing is that bad that "editing" means cutting out half of the words you've written 💀

Glad to see ubiquitously, interconnectivity, and infinitely got the cut. I can't believe she managed to use those three words in a single sentence. Also, never forget the time she retweeted this from Patricia - zero self awareness.

who is this, I love her already
I really really hate how she uses sentences with two apostrophes in one after the other after the other. The pace of her writing is shocking, I'm surprised nobody told her during editing to use some shorter ones to break it up. If she tried to read that aloud to herself it would not sound good.

Someone should recommend her the Harvard Guide to Better Business Writing as her next book !😂 It actually helped me a lot at work.
