One of my work colleagues has married a woman from the Philippines. He thought he was buying a live in cook/cleaner/dutiful wife and she's everything but (which I admire her for)! He admitted on a night out once that he spent well over £75k of life savings by the time he'd been out there a few times to meet, marry and bring her here. She sends all of her wages back to her family so they exist on his wages. Her English is still very poor even though she's been here for 10 years, so she's hard to understand and he has to attend the Doctors/Dentist/Hairdresser/school meetings with her. Drives us mad with his constant leave requests.
Good for her, tbh! Someone who essentially 'buys' a person deserves all they get.

Sigh!

The awful deaths of the sisters on Brighton Beach is heartbreaking and tragic but there's a GoFundMe and it's already raised 18k for a "loving and dignified farewell"...

It's just automatic at this point, I suppose it's the new normal.

And look, fundraising for a nice funeral? Okay, I can grasp that. You do not need to gather so much money you could have a Kardashian worthy send off, though.

Why does it always have to be the most massive funeral ever? That's the bit I struggle with.

In their defence I would imagine 3 funerals are going to be expensive (even a shared one for 3 people). I rarely defend GFM but suspending judgement on this one when I see if it stops at a sensible amount for 3 funerals.

That's true, I stupidly hadn't considered the three deceased people aspect of it.

Though I'd expect 18k would cover it reasonably well for even three? If the fund doesn't close relatively soon, we will know.

Over 24k now and still open. People have been extremely kind with their donations and it needs to close now.

Wonder what his debt figure is? Only working half the year right through into his 40’s 😳 the locks would be changed on return to my house 😂

Hmm so without saying it, he has also said that he is away from his kids 5 months in the year.....the kids who are as he said, also autistic. Leading us to believe they are under the care of his wife who he said has autism, adhd and bppd. Those are a struggle on their own and yet he also leaves 2 autistic kids for her to look after as well.
He doesn't seem like a good parent. I'd say "hope he is a better musician", but he obviously isn't since he is in dept and not famous cos like, never heard of them!
Wouldn't be surprised if the gigs he is referring to are in a pub and only reason they're "sold out" is cos it's a pub.

Can't believe this one has hit target tbh:

Yeah right lol. So he left his kids, for half of the year, with a wife with multiple mental health conditions? Pull the other one ! I actually cannot believe people donate to things like this, unless they're fans ? So the wife will get full disability benefits for her,and yes,of course both children are autistic 🙄,so another 2 lots of DLA on top...nah,not buying it. How would she be well enough to be a sole carer of 2 Autistic Children ? So potentially there's carers allowance floating around here too.

Thing is, nothing will change if people just stump the money up like they do. Bet he was on a moped with no helmet.

It should be a legal requirement to have insurance if you're travelling anywhere overseas.

I agree that insurance should be a legal requirement, but the problem is most people will always go for the cheapest possible, not read the T&Cs for any exclusions and not fully declare existing health conditions (if applicable) and GoFundMe will keep popping up saying how unfair the insurance companies are.

Insurance companies are wicks, but do your due diligence.
