My friend and myself have been re watching series 1 alongside the new series. I have to say that aside from a couple of episodes I prefer series 1 as there was less panto aspect to it.

I should add they said they were opening the carpark at 7am but we got there at 6.45 and it was already open and filling up, we had got a taxi because I just knew we'd have parking arse ache so factor that in as well if you're coming from a distance

Yes we said that about him asking her if she'd baked for him.
It was also the day they filmed the kids gauntlet.
You jogged my memory about Athena- I dont think they've mentioned her for weeks. Fury wasnt competing that day either but came out at the end with her shoulder strapped up
I don't think Bionic appeared either so it will be interesting to see the next 2 QFs to see what happened to them.

I’m an episode behind, but that Heat 5 female eliminator was SO BAD. Falling from the hand ladder twice and then that traveller? Embarrassing. And those Duels were also bizarre in the number of disqualifications.
It was a terrible episode, no one really deserved to go to the Quarters from Men or Women

I’m going on the 24th may - seeing Nitro and Dynamite. The live tour was awesome and I’d love to go again too! Developed a bit of a crush on Giant so I’d now rather I was seeing him and Fury…

Is anyone going to the Gladiators experience in Birmingham? I looked to go when Nitro and Dynamite were there but for 1 adult, 1 child and 1 spectator it was going to be £205! I would rather put that towards the live tour again.
I am keeping everything crossed for a live tour. It was released April last year so fingers crossed!!!

We suspected we would be on screen as we were sitting directly in the eyeline of a cameraman who was filming the audience the whole time🫣

We thought they'd slotted the Legend bit in as he was there but only at the beginning when they introduced the gladiators before filming started...I remember being gutted he wasn't going to appear🤣 they filmed a bit explaining Athena was injured too, so I'd be interested to see where they slot that in because it wasn't in this episode.

I also remember Helena fluffing her interview with Bradley over something to do with baking a cake and having to reshoot it... that was used in the interview in the heat, not the QF.

Also, I'm pretty sure it was the last QF to be filmed but the first to be shown on TV.

I loved the production side of it just as much as show itself!

I am enjoying this reboot but like everyone else says it does feel a bit too WWW. The beauty of the original gladiators is that they were actually good. I don’t know if that’s just because these days fitness is much more popular than it was in the 90s so everyone and their dog is a cross fitter or gym owner. But yeah they need to get those gladiators training. Back in the day you just knew it was game over when hunter was on the wall or jet/lightning on hang tough. The gauntlet this time round feels so easy - I’m sure not many made it through in the OG one (I mean how could you with rhino, warrior 😂). So I don’t know if they need to tweak the rules/make sections a bit bigger. It almost feels as though the gladiators can’t do anything.
Totally agree with the awful Apollo and sabre interaction - it isn’t needed.

I agree.

I don't know whether it's my age or the fact I've watched loads of Drag Race, but I do think the scripted elements and some of the riggory are just more noticeable and quite blatant in 2026.

The rule change for the men's Wall in the finale last year was to benefit Joe and make sure he had a comfortable enough lead to win as his story was narratively satisfying than what Mus had to offer. Electro losing to Aneila in the finale on Unleash when she'd won the previous four times. I am also not entirely convinced the Gladiators - the male ones anyway - put in 100% during certain games. I found it interesting that they managed to let Fin through the Gauntlet in the heats of the first series but seemed to up the ante considerably with Ash (the only openly gay male contestant ever) and prevented him from getting through.

The series is still highly enjoyable but I do find some of the scripted moments a bit too...obvious and a bit cringe.
What was the rule change?

I definitely think the Glads are told to go easy on certain events to keep the playing field level between contenders.

I did get tickets, not great seats as three times the tickets I was picking got taken before I got to checkout. But happy to have got them

Talking of IG accounts, has anyone else seen Dynamite's launch video of her singing career? Omg, it is sooo bad - cheap cheesy video, generic song and her voice is ok but absolutely nothing special 🤷‍♀️
