I think it was the perfect ending, not the one I wanted necessarily, but the one that needed to happen. I like the idea that Alison and Mike went back to visit and the plague ghosts got a happy ending!

I enjoyed it and shed a wee tear 😢 but like someone else said, wherever Alison goes she sees dead people. But I appreciate that they wanted it to end… I’ve been watching the US version and it’s grown on me

I thought the last episode was very disappointing.

It made no sense for Alison and Mike to move away when she can see ghosts everywhere. The storyline was rather poor and I guess that's why the series has ended because they were out of ideas 😪

I don't think there was a "right" ending really.

If they stayed, then nothing has changed in 5 series and it isn't really an ending at all.

If Mike can see ghosts it is too convenient and cliche and kinda of gets rid of half the joke.

If Alison died, leaves Mike and the baby alone.

If they left, they moved on, Alison probably can learn to ignore other ghosts now she knows what is going on and there isn't mutual attachment, but they come back and visit, but she can still see ghosts elsewhere.

There is issues with all the ending options, nothing was "right".

Jim Howick replying to a comment about Alison seeing Ghosts everywhere (he's right - they finally found a new house with no ghosts in the first series but wanted to go back to Button House)

Even though they were going back on what happened at the end of S5, I thought it was really well done - because everything changed once the baby arrived and they all needed to adapt

Side note: still laughing at 'good fishy milk'

Oh I'm gutted it's all over 😭

Have to say though it did need a one hour proper send off ..... It all felt a bit rushed sadly.

My biggest issue was the amount of screen time given to a random not very likeable character when we had so many of our favourites to say goodbye to (no offense to the actor playing Mike's mum of course)

The tone also felt a little off -
seeing Alison run down and drained, I would of loved to have seen her thriving on her A game, happy and confident with the Ghosts giving her laughs and challenges for old times sake , they could of thrown in at least one shock 'sucking off' because why not last ep, go wild.

The episode where Robin had a premonition of death for the ghosts would of been perfect for the end i think, the mystery, the drama, the worry then the joy and comedy of the outcome but ultimately Alison, Mike and the ghosts all happy and all still together in the end would of made our Christmas tbh.

I'm glad they didn't get sucked off.... I got a bit scared when the priest showed up. I thought them going back every year was nice, but TBH I dont think we would have been happy with any ending as we just didnt want it to stop.

I do love this troop of actors and I cant wait to see what they do next (I did see an advert for Mathew Baynton playing Bottom in A Midsummer Nights Dream recently)

It’s a shame Katy Wix couldn’t stay until the end. It was only 7 more episodes and she’d have been really funny with the baby.

I'm so excited for Matt in Midsummer! I live in Stratford so fingers crossed I can still get tickets but if not I'm 100% camping outside stage door (failing that bumping into him in town)

Gutted it's over.

I hated and loved the ending. It was a beautiful ending but it's heartbreaking to think they didn't see eachother everyday but the fact they went back every year had me bawling.

As someone else said, I don't think we'd have been happy with any ending because we don't want to say goodbye but as endings go it was pretty decent.

But the ghosts that Alison sees everywhere aren’t enmeshed in her family situation in the same way that the Button House ghosts are.

They didn’t suggest she leave in order to never see a ghost again, they suggested she leave because she & Mike needed to raise their family without constant input from a collection of over-involved ‘aunties and uncles’.

I thought it was the best possible ending. I don’t know how have it could have ended that would have been equally as ‘final’ without being tragic in some way.

I completely get the logic behind the ending, don’t get me wrong, but I can’t logic myself into feeling moved by the ending. I just felt deflated. I was absolutely ready to give them my tears and heartache, but they didn’t manage to earn them.

I thought it was a really good ending too, and I loved the plague ghosts getting something nice after hundreds of years stuck in the dark cellar 😂

That's how I felt - unmoved. Alison wasn't herself in this episode and Mike's mother was a dull pain the a. It just wasn't funny or touching like previous Xmas episodes have been 😐

Yes, exactly this! I didn't feel like there was enough genuine interaction between Alison and the ghosts during the episode to warrant tears at the ending.

I can't think of a better upbringing for a child than growing up in a massive stately home with a bunch of friendly ghosts that they could potentially interact with
