My son and I have just watched the first 3 episodes of the US version. We weren't keen on episode one but by the end of episode 3 we thought it was ok and will watch the rest. Nothing will beat the original Ghosts

They are filming season 3 apparently, I can’t wait. We’ve watched them all a few times and there’s always bits you miss.
So good.

Just been watching a couple of the US episodes on iPlayer ... absolutely dire! As others have said where is the subtlety? Everything in the plot is delivered like a sledgehammer! And the replacement characters are just awful! Including the two "livings"!

Anyone know how well it's gone down in the US? The Office US was similarly dire in the first season but massively improved after that.

Back to the UK series. I've always wondered, given they can't touch anything (well except for Julian's magic finger) and can walk through walls/doors. How come they don't just keep falling through the floorboards and how come they frequently sit on chairs :D. In fact in one of the Series 4 episodes I noticed Julian sit down on a sofa and his weight caused someone that was already on the sofa to sink down a touch as well ;). Plot hole 🤣🤣

I'm falling down a rabbit hole and Googling the significance of the Captain's medals 🤦 One is the Defence Medal
which seems to imply he may not have seen military action: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defence_Medal_(United_Kingdom).

---

Argh, just Googled the France and Germany Star which was awarded to those who served in France/Germany June 1944 to mid 1945. Which makes interesting reading. And doesn't help answer how he ended up at Button House.

I did wonder if the Ghosts at Button House were those who died in tragic, emotional circumstances through no fault of their own and before they were meant to die. And, due to this, are more likely to remain as ghosts.

Groundskeeper - bled to death in animal trap
Kitty - suspected poisoning
Robin - killed by a wooly mammoth
Pat - "accidentally" shot through the neck by an arrow
Annie - choking to death on a bread roll
Mary - accused of being a witch to account for agricultural failings
Plague villagers - the village who came back with the plague from the nearest big town
Julian - shagging around (he's the mould that doesn't quite fit my theory)
Andrew - coaxed into a duel by a friend after his lover's family fortune
Fanny - shoved out a window after finding her husband shagging another man
Beheaded man (sorry half a bottle of prosecco in right now 🤣) - accidental beheading as he was about to take the flack for his wife's treason.

Please tell me this makes sense, I've spent ever so long typing it out 🤣

We ended up binging it all a few weekends back and just loved it. Very British and we loved Dead Pixels so as Charlotte Ritchie is also called Alison in Ghosts, we like to imagine it's a sequel series where she's escaped the nerds 🤣

I suppose I found Pat's death quite dark and tragic yet still humorous. They're obviously good at combining tragedy and comedy so I will trust them!

Yeah I'm very curious about Kitty as she's the only one who's death we know nothing about. I just assumed Robin died naturally cos cavemen died young and that the Captain died in the war. But yeah now I think about it he has no visible injuries so I think that's probably very likely that he had an un-heroic death and is embarrassed about it. I hope they do flashback episodes for all of them, even for the deaths that have been explained like Fanny's.
The captain can't have died in the war, he had to have died on the grounds of button house. I like the theory that he discovered the young sergeant he liked got killed on Africa and died of heartbreak. Would be very in keeping with his demeanour of stuff upper lip but actually squishy Teddy inside.

Just thought of something sad. When you think about all the time periods the ghosts are from, just think how long the caveman was alone for. Nobody to talk to.

My son and I are still working our way through the US version. We are enjoying it but for different reasons as to why we love the British one.

It is just brilliant isn't it @Aussie.
I have watched the whole series now. We find out the Captains name and a bit more of his back story 😥. We also find out what happened to Kitty. 🙁.

I am going to miss this so much when it finishes at Christmas 😭
