I absolutely love this lot. After reading the posts on here, I am really wanting to watch Yonderland. OH and me tried to find it today but had no luck finding it. The second and third series and the Christmas special were on sale on the usual websites (Amazon, Ebay, HMV) for around £6.99 each series. That is no problem, ....but every website we checked for the first series was about £150 for series 1 . Why is it so expensive? We can't justify paying that so we feel we are missing out on something there . Is it that good?

All 3 series are included on Virgin TV on demand stuff. I've not watched it but am tempted to do so now

I expect that for Mary the comedy will be about what exactly made people think she was a witch. Witch burnings can be light-hearted (e.g. Good Omens with Witchfinder Thou-Shalt-Not-Commit-Adultery Pulsifer).

I could see Kitty's story being more sad, though, and I'm very curious about Robin and the Captain. I like the theory going around that Robin got struck by lightning. I've seen lots of people worry that the circumstances surrounding the Captain's death might be very sad, but I quite like the idea that he had a very ordinary death and just finds it a bit embarrassing as he would have liked to go down in a blaze of glory.

I want to find out how the captain died. All the others have been explained,
Robin = electrocuted,
the plague pit people = self explanatory,
humphrey = unfortunate beheading,
Mary = burned at the stake,
Mary's friend = choked
Kitty = poisoned / abused by her "sister"
Thomas = shot in a duel
Lady button = pushed out a window
Captain = ????
Pat = shot in the neck
Julian = heart attack doing the naughty
What happened to the captain, I need to know!!!

I wondered for a while if the Captain was either suicide or a "broken heart" after his friend left. Captain himself never appears to have been deployed on the battlefield which suggests he may have had a weak heart or poor health (as well as being part of a social class which made it easier to be given a training role on medical grounds).

Plus he can't have left the grounds to die in battle, otherwise he wouldn't be there now.

If I remember correctly, some of his medals indicate he has been in battle. He might have gone back to Button House after the fighting and died when he heard his friend had been killed.

Just watched the last episode of series 4. This programme keeps getting better and better. It is amazing how many storylines they manage to cram into 30 minutes.
I especially loved seeing more of Robin and his back story

From the last episode it looks like the main cast all double up as the plague people.

They do. You can pick out who's who, some very obvious.
Love it, love it, love it, too.
I want the couple to have a baby who can see the ghosts and to also see how they react with the baby.
Maybe difficult to do on a 'technical' level (in terms of getting the baby's reactions' but not at all impossible for this team. They are so incredibly talented.
I creased up when Pat was having his talk with Mary about holidays, going from telling her how wonderful they were into having a full time rant about holiday nightmares.
Mary's subtle but brilliant reactions when he was waffling on about sunburn (which he was totally oblivious to) were mint..

ETA: For the most part, Robin is my favourite ghost, series after series but I love them all.

I thought Friday's episide (Pineapple Day) was the best yet this series. Some lovely writing and performances.
Going to really miss it when it's finished!

Loved it. I listened to the podcast yesterday when walking the dog, whoever on here mentioned it was right, they just muck about. Would love to know more about the characters and writing process.

while I love the show I think it would need to add more for any future series. Like can someone else’s see the ghosts as well? Even if for just one episode. And a new ghost in the house would be good. I know it’s a sitcom and so not much is going to change.

I just noticed and have watched 3 or 4 episodes. Don't love it. It's definitely not as bad as I was expecting though. It's barely funny.

Watching the first episode. It's painful. It's not good.

@kev1974 I know they've given it a second series and there was a xmas special this year, I think the general feeling among people who have seen both is that the UK one is much better

it annoyed me how they revealed how the ghosts died very quickly and that they seem to have much more money to do the place up/open the B&B with immediately.

I know Mathew Baynton has a cameo next series though, and the UK writers are involved in it generally

I loved this!!! Mary and Julian were my favourites, wasn’t keen on kitty and the cave man at first but they definitely grew on me. I only watched it because it had a few cast members (Mike and Mary) from Stath let’s flats. If you haven’t seen that yet it’s a much watch.
If you really enjoyed this I thoroughly recommend what we do in the shadows.

So I've been thinking of potential storylines they may do. On the podcast there has been talk will Alison & Mike have babies & will the baby see the Ghosts. I think if they did have a baby it would be really good if Alison sees the Ghosts interacting with the baby & the baby reacts with a giggle. I've put a lot of thought into this imaginary storyline

I’ve imagined that when they decide to end it that either Mike will die and then he and Alison can still be together and he can finally meet the ghosts and fight Thomas, or Alison dies and Mike can finally see a ghost. Or even it’s the future and they are both haunting the house when new people move in.

It's really irritating me how some outlets are reporting that its been 'axed' when the creators literally put out a statement saying they came to the decision themselves that the fifth season would be the last

Presumably an attempt to bash the BBC I'm gonna assume. Try and make it look like the BBC is canceling a good show.

Quite honestly the best comedy on BBC in a long time. And I've started my 6yo watching Horrible Histories as written by a lot of the same people so he can "learn" while I giggle.

I'm obsessed with a lot of Alison's wardrobe too lol
