I’m also boycotting the body shop
And bought my daughter and her friends some Harry Potter books.
The Body Shops campaign is disgusting.
If you want a good read I recommend the Cormoran Strike series by Robert Galbraith aka JK. One of my favourite book series.

I am also considering unfriending anyone I know in real life on SM if they share any of that extreme trans rhetoric content. I can't believe how naive people are being and mostly women.

the democrats are brainwashed.
I think it’s the same as the left over here. Despite being a minority, the extremists shout the loudest and somehow manage to pull influence and convince us that this hideous woke apocalypse is the intention of all those with left leaning politics. bleeping momentum got their claws into the Labour campaign and the left lost spectacularly to Boris Johnson, a useless Spitting Image puppet of a man. So convinced were they of their RIGHT-ON-ness that they couldn’t see they were wanking into an echo chamber and alienating the electorate. Then followed the debacle of the new leadership with none of the female candidates prepared to actually stand up for their own sex. Spineless weasels.

The right have the same issues. The rhetoric around far-right beliefs and the idea that all right wing voters are elitist, racist, disablist rum who don’t care about children/the sick/poor/elderly. Obviously it isn’t true but it suits the narrative of ‘Good vs Evil’. There can be no nuance in politics.

I’m sorry for my sweariness. I’m exceptionally angry about this stuff.

I think "wanking into an echo chamber" is my new favourite phrase 😂

What have the Body Shop been doing now? I saw them grandstanding on Twitter with some sort of tote bag on display... have they said or done something else?

That’s androgyny. Or... it used to be until it was considered not cool or special enough.

What bugs me about non-binary females is the way they describe themselves: that they want to be viewed as a person first and foremost, that they want to be free of the oppressions and gender stereotypes heaped upon women. That they don’t FEEL like women (insert massive eye roll here). I saw a video on my Twitter feed - might have been PinkNews or something 🤢 - saying ALL of that and I nearly threw my phone out the window.

Because if that is what it means to be non-binary, we’re all non-binary, surely? Hooray!

But it’s not just that. I always detect a huge dose of internalised misogyny and contempt for (what they see as) regular/basic women who must LOVE being objectified and oppressed, cat-called and paid less. Like we are happy with it. But not the NB females - they’re better than that.

Basically, it’s like the “not like the other girls” memes on a massive scale.
So, non-binary = unshaven (probably sweaty) armpits, hairy legs, unflattering clothes, zero sexual allure and generally looking like a cave woman. Something to really aspire to then .... 🤣🤣🤣🤣

This. I'm still a bit peeved tbh that my straight male classmates from uni unfriended me because of one single status about JKR. It was the first and only status I ever made about the topic and it simply said I supported her. Apparently that warrants writing off an entire person who probably shares 99% of the same views with you on other things. I always thought they were alright guys but they had no problem silencing a woman over something that affects her but not them. One even had the cheek to drop a comment and unfriend me so I couldn't even response to his comment. fool.

This is what makes me think we are actually in the majority. The people trashing JKR are either extreme TRAs or people who actually haven't thought about these issues at all and just hear that the trans side is supposedly the "woke" side so they just following along blindly bleating like sheep.

Edit: Just followed Blair White after she was mentioned here, she's amazing! Has an actual rational head on her shoulders 🙌
That's the problem - too many people are sheep just blindly following the flock. I was brought up to research things before forming an opinion so I'm pretty well informed on a lot of things. I never cease to be amazed by how many people say "oh I've never really thought about it" if I challenge their hard and fast opinions on something with an alternative view. Unbelievable!

Some fun facts.

This is in Scotland.
Glasgow library banning feminist organisation events that discuss women’s sex-based rights.
Edinburgh grape Crisis Centre changed bathrooms to unisex.
Labour govt supporting that babies should be born without assigned sex.
Civil service avoiding using the word women when referring to “menstruating.”

Some fun facts.

The Scottish govt also are trying to pass self ID - someone could claim they're the opposite sex without any medical/psychological assessment.

My transphobe comment was towards the comments I saw saying trans women aren’t women and the people bringing up extremely rare occurrences in order to trash them. To me that is transphobia. I don’t throw the word around lightly. But I believe they are women and have a right to be identified as such. It takes nothing from me. I used to see trans people
I feel like I’m the only person on this thread who agrees with your views. If I had a child and they were trans, I would fully support them in doing whatever they needed to do to be happy.

I watched a documentary once about trans children and a mother describing how she caught her 6 year old contemplating cutting his pen off as his dysphoria was that severe. She said that she would rather let hlive as a girl than to for her to kill herself.

Also I just don’t understand this whole idea of womanhood being threatened by the existence of trans women. Why do people always need to assume a minority is taking something away from you if they want to live their lives? It’s bad enough seeing “all lives matter” in response to BLM.

Im not calling anyone a TERF, I’m just seeing a lot of ignorant comments - that if you are born a man you are man and you will never be a woman. It’s so easy to speak this way when you will never experience what life is like for these people.
I don’t agree with their views largely. Mainly because I think they have put them across in a very petulant and immature way. Discussing “fragile femininity” and stating outright that
People should not have children is outrageous.

I believe most people (myself included) would support their child being trans. However, perhaps as parents they/we would wish said child (and other family members) to undergo therapy and explore all avenues (could this be a coping mechanisms for something else? Like abuse? Sexual orientation confusion? Bullying? Etc)
Those issues need to be explored and addressed fully before punting kids on hormonal blockers. Why is anyone debating this? I’m NOT saying kids cannot be trans or should suffer, absolutely not. But gender dysphoria diagnosis needs to rule out other things first to ensure they are truly ready to start blockers or indeed hormonal transition. 🤷🏻‍

Let me say this for folk in the back... THAT IS NOT TRANSPHOBIA.

That is PARENTING.

Ah thank you for posting some examples of the type of person society (trans and bio) should be wary and fearful of... predators!

Sadly, a lot of people (indeed on this thread) refer to you/us as. TERF or transphobic for referencing a “small number of cases” and would like us to not highlight these beasts as it casts the trans community in bad light.

let me be clear that some
Of those people (Jessica Yaniv) ARE NOT TRANS. He is a predator beast with an obsession in underage girls and tampons.

We need the wider trans community to be calling these people out big time. And making it clear they they do NOT rep trans people.

I truly believe most folk don’t have an issue with trans people at all. It’s this rush to bring in hasty legislation to bow to woke af culture that people fear. Why? Because that legislation allows these types of animals to abuse it, align themselves with trans and access vulnerable members of society for criminal gain.

If you believe this is an acceptable level of collateral damage for the greater good then have a f*cking word with yourself.

Neither me or the other poster said we would give hormones to a child - that isn’t even legal or possible to do in this country. Talking therapies and assessments would be part of treating any gender dysphoria before even thinking about any treatment (which would begin once they are older and is a very lengthy, difficult process on the nhs).

We were simply saying if a person cannot accept a child who is genuinely trans or feel like they couldn’t be “on board” with it/find it odd then we think that’s really sad.

Hi so hormone therapy is legal in the states from what I understand. Besides that I think most people here would try and accept it but find it a bit difficult also because it seems like it would come from a place of self hatred/hating themselves/their body in a way. I know that I'd feel sad that my child is uncomfortable with their body so much that they wish to medically change it so much that it could also potentially reduce their lifespan/cause them serious health problems in the future (I'm getting this information from older trans people on twitter who are saying this).

You might have been simply saying that but the other poster said women who feel like that are monsters and shouldn't have kids. Similarly, the poster who said she wouldn't be on board with it didn't say she would disown or denounce a child for being trans. She said she would love them still.

It's perfectly normal to love your child but not be on board with something or find it odd. I don't think my mother approves of every life decision I make (she certainly would find posting on a forum with strangers odd). If I became a man tomorrow she would definitely not be "on board" with it but she's not a monster.

Parents are human too and though you will unconditionally love your child, that does not mean you will never get frustrated, confused, be bewildered by their life choices.

This isn't directed at you by the way but saying that women who feel like that are monsters and shouldn't have kids under any circumstances is an extremely immature world view.

I would feel sad for my child if they were trans because their life would be more difficult than if they were not but I would 100% be on board with it if (after in-depth therapies and assessments) they wanted to transition to live a happy life, I wouldn’t find it odd or weird. And that transition would entirely depend on what they felt comfortable with and once all risks had been weighed up.

Like with the rest of the LGBT community, I believe that is how people are born and they can’t help it so if I had a genuinely trans child I’d support them in and way possible.

As I said above, I believe this is how people are born - it is not their choice to be trans. I’m sure the majority of trans people given the choice would never have chosen this life for themselves for how difficult it can be and the abuse they have to endure. You could be confused because, if you haven’t experienced dysphoria yourself it might be difficult to understand but I think saying you are not “on board with it” suggests you wouldn’t support your child.

I don't know how many more times this can be said on the thread- gender dysphoria is a genuine condition (though rare). Someone who has it should be supported as much as possible (as with any illness/ condition). The problem is, the new trans umbrella can now mean pretty much anything. Men in a dress/ cross dressers can call themselves trans women.

In previous posts I’ve agreed that can be problematic because of these male predators but I think policing this is a complex issue where there is no clear “right” answer
