See I get that but the more I look into it to see different people's perspectives and experiences the more I have doubts/questions for example if I could be assured my child was 100% trans and understood the life altering decison I'd be on board even though I'd still be sad, for the reason I previously mentioned. However when I see someone explain on reddit that they're a feminine Gay man and that they wanted to be trans because of abuse inflicted on them by men, relatability to women and I quote "encouraged in therapy to transition". I have serious questions about the TRA movement and how extreme it's gotten. Not to mention the other reasons that have been mentioned on here, twitter, reddit and other forumsI would feel sad for my child if they were trans because their life would be more difficult than if they were not but I would 100% be on board with it if (after in-depth therapies and assessments) they wanted to transition to live a happy life, I wouldn’t find it odd or weird. And that transition would entirely depend on what they felt comfortable with and once all risks had been weighed up.
Like with the rest of the LGBT community, I believe that is how people are born and they can’t help it so if I had a genuinely trans child I’d support them in and way possible.
As I said above, I believe this is how people are born - it is not their choice to be trans. I’m sure the majority of trans people given the choice would never have chosen this life for themselves for how difficult it can be and the abuse they have to endure. You could be confused because, if you haven’t experienced dysphoria yourself it might be difficult to understand but I think saying you are not “on board with it” suggests you wouldn’t support your child.
Like Emilia Duscado(getting the last name wrong) is one transwomen who's identity I doubt based on actions. How can this person be a woman if they would remove the sex parity law in NYC political positions? a law that's been around for over 100 years I believe. Someone who's american would know more about this, but how can you affirm you're a woman when you advocated and removed a law that assured women equal participation in politics ? Make it make sense.
I used to think "live and let live" they identify as women but are biologically males, eh they're not hurting anyone why do I get to tell them how to be comfortable and live their lives. But now it's gotten out of control and there are too many things that don't add up and are crazy.
There's a reason why there's a growing opposition to this amongst people who previously had no issue with it. I think anyone who's blindly following this like the nutjobs on twitter needs to ask themselves what it is.
when I was growing up men in drag and transvestites were still understood as men who like to fluctuate/expirement with gender roles and now most are being called women?? make it make sense. GD is a real thing but now every dude who sometimes like to wear panties calls himself a woman. Oh and the testimonies of some who "want to transition but don't want to lose male privelege/dont want to go from a hot guy to an weird girl" make no sense. Yes you want to be attractive I get that but if you deeply identify as a women and are uncomfortable in your male body should the risk of oppression and being weird really be a possible detractor from you transitioning and living your most authentic life?I don't know how many more times this can be said on the thread- gender dysphoria is a genuine condition (though rare). Someone who has it should be supported as much as possible (as with any illness/ condition). The problem is, the new trans umbrella can now mean pretty much anything. Men in a dress/ cross dressers can call themselves trans women.
