I just hate the fact we have to even ask for people’s pronouns! I have breasts, quite a feminine face, am I not clearly a “she” anymore? I will not start conversations telling people this, it almost becomes robotic in a sense

Just saw a very aggravating article in Jezebel calling JK misogynist and purposefully misgendering her as ‘he’ to make some sort of woke point. Turns out the author is a trans woman.

@PoleStar I worked in a big company where the head of equality and diversity had a totally obvious woman’s name, let’s say, Louise. She had ‘she/her’ next to it in brackets at the end of every email. I’m sorry, but WHO reads ‘Louise’ and thinks, oh I WISH they would clarify what sex they are! Even if a name could be either, like Sam, who cares?! Why is your email going to be so focussed on the stereotypes of gender that you need to be aware of their sex in the first place? Would your email be different if the person was a man or a woman?
There are lots of examples of women with typically ‘masculine’ names who have been assumed to be a man and treated one way, then as soon as they’re found to actually be a woman, treated differently (worse!) Surely it would make more sense that we DON’T bring in any extra awareness to sex of the person you’re emailing in case it also brings with it a biased attitude?

Yeah, I hate that. There are women I know in real life who are not trans and have "she/her" in their profile etc and I am like WHY.

They’ve got a few threads on the JK thing on Lipstickalley and they are going OFF in support of her. Seeing all these little pockets of women across the internet speak against this madness is somewhat comforting. This comment in particular summed it up perfectly for me.

I think it says it all that it's always a focus on women, women need a new name, women need to share spaces, women need to give up sport etc etc.
Nothing can ever be a women's issue - you talk about domestic violence or eating disorders for example and you immediately get jumped on with "women can be abusive too" "men suffer eating disorders too", but when it comes to suicide awareness no one points out that women commit suicide too.
Similarly when it comes to international women's day there's a heavy emphasis on transwomen, there's next to no transmen emphasis on international men's day.
It's male privilege to believe biological sex "doesn't exist" or doesn't matter.
Of course there are genuinely transphobic people but for myself and many other feminists this isn't about genuine transpeople, who I agree should be free to live their lives; this is about creating legal loopholes for opportunistic men wanting to take advantage of women.

Doesn't make sense if it wasn't real then why would you want to transition in the first place? -this is why I'm confused, if I'm not understanding this correctly someone feel free to explain it to me
I think maybe they just want women to not acknowledge biological sex because it puts a spotlight on how they themselves aren’t real women at all. Biological differences between men and women exist whether they like it or not. They want us to accept they are women and that’s that whilst also trying to force women into a subcategory by trying to make ‘cis’ become a thing. It really does seem like the end goal for some of these people is to take the word ‘woman’ away from well, real women.
Instead of working and campaigning to create their own safe spaces like women once had to (no one did it for us), it’s easier to take what already exists. But to do that successfully all women need to be silenced and submissive. Thankfully we are not.

Women have been fighting for their rights for years so frankly it is insulting to be put into a subcategory (cis women) and it is not a phrase I will EVER apply to myself. I also will never be the "she/her" explainer...i have a female face and body so take a wild guess at my pronouns.
Honestly, I understand there are attacks on trans people but I think many MTF trans saying they're treated badly because they're trans are actually just encountering the sexism women have had to battle for YEARS. Welcome to what it's like being a woman.

Off topic from recent conversation - but this is a great video at explaining the gender non-conforming vs trans and the damage it can do to assume someone who doesn't conform is trans. I mean to post it earlier when we were on the topic - but I couldn't remember his username. My son watches his videos and I find them quite informative and they help me understand a lot of topics.

100%! It's annoying that the minority of trans activists/trans people that have these controversial views are the ones who speak loudest. I think the majority have the same view as he does.
I feel bad for them being shouted over by the extreme trans activists.
you're probably right and see that's one of my thoughts on this that if you're a bit of a tomboy as a girl you're called trans by some for example.. like what? but if you protest things like that you get attacked by others.
